It's possible that Technic is using your integrated graphics instead of your video card.

In usual, at least 2GB is needed to work properly. To have plenty of margin I play with 4, but that's not recommended if you have less than 8GB of RAM.

First, this is probably because you don't have the same Tekkit version as the server. Ask your admin what's his version, and get the same one. Second, this is a necro, which is forbidden by the rules.

Okay, the server is done for. All the bases were nuked, and we'll reset. Awesome nuked my base without any reason, and against the rules, thus, he is un-whitelisted. Bwillb nuked warptech, but there are doubts as to his guiltiness, so he'll have a chance. And once we decided the server was to be reset, we nuked the shit out of the world until the server crashed.
