I also see that you did not take the warning to heart. you also seem to think you are supposed to backseat moderate, which you aren't. do you see the little "staff" logo under my name? or the "admin" logos under sct, genpage, canvox, etc? that means you get to tell people whattodoandmeanit. you aren't the hero this forum needs, nor the one it deserves.

assuming you are running a more recent pack, like tekkit or hexxit, type /tps into the chat box in game and hit enter. it should show you how many milliseconds an average tick is taking. anything over 50ms means the game is lagging. let's do an example for science then, shall we? let's assume you're running lean and mean with your modpack, your ticks per second is a solid 20 and the actual time needed to complete a tick is 15ms.

since each second has 20 ticks, and each hour has 3600 seconds, each hour has 72,000 ticks. that means for 8 hours of simulation you need to run 576,000 ticks.

if each tick actually takes 15ms to run, you will need 8,640,000ms to simulate 8 hours. let's turn that into a more reasonable number, shall we? that's 8,640 seconds or 144 minutes. 2 hours and 24 minutes. that is the "instant" you would need in a conservative case. that is why it doesn't work that way and won't.

technically, yes it is.  before you flip out some more over some dude bloviating on the internet, let me remind you of a few things:
 
1) people are entitled to their opinions.  even ones that disgust you personally, even ones that are in favor of illegal activites like assaulting anyone or throwing people in jail for saying things other people really, really don't like.
2) there's no actual assurance that the links were actually the same person and not just someone else with the same name.  you are inclined to believe it's the same guy because you already want to hate him
3) how does venomous hatred solve anything again?  isn't that what you're trying to be against?  why are you the one spewing it?

Now this is just silly shit.  This is a discussion board, you posted an opinion, people who disagree with that opinion will make posts disagreeing with it, and people who agree will make posts agreeing with it, and that's how this shit all works.  Now, you posted "I don't like the way Technic made Thing" on the official Technic boards- there are going to be more people disagreeing than agreeing with you.  Certainly, I'm gonna come in here and tell you I think you're wrong, that everything went into the pack the way it did for a reason and I'm going to tell you what those reasons were.  If you want to define that as kool-aid drinking, that's your prerogative I guess (but it's dumb), but you don't get to demand that only posts in support can post in here- that's not how message boards work.  Hell, that's now how LIFE works.   The issue isn't that we need to go back and re-read your OP, the issue is that you need to uncurl yourself from the fetal position and respond to some portion of the conversation that's occurred since the OP, in some manner, instead of just writing it off as "kool-aid".  
 
At the very least you need to ask yourself exactly what you want from this conversation, because at this moment, it seems what you wanted was a hugbox, and that reflects very poorly on your character.

the problem with optifine is that it's very hit or miss depending on your system setup.  some configurations see huge FPS gains, some see massive drops.  because it's such a crapshoot in terms of benefits, it isn't included by default since removing it is far more difficult than installing it is (assuming 1.5.x versions that go in the jar)
