Get in line;) Hey relter, I am no one important or official. But a free bit advice for you. If your serious about applying then I suggest you read the very first post of this thread made the owner, KS7. In particular the bit about applying for whitelist. Once you've read that you may want to edit your application. That's Just my opinion and a bit of friendly advice.

Have you tried connecting to server ? I may be very wrong but seem to recall seeing you name come up in chat when KS7 was adding people via mobile console about 2 days ago. If I'm wrong I apologise. Only posting for your convenience as KS7 can be at times very busy irl. ie: holding down a job, studying, and looking after us lot as well.

Some of us are carrying on as usual. But I think one or 2 are doing other things until the decision about a new map is reached. Also this weekend the new mod pack was released and some people may be trying that out in single player. I spent a few hours on it yesterday. Truth is though, I can't play single player for long. It gets dull, even with RC steam engines and extra biomesXL Extra note: although no official announcement ha been made. I would like to urge a hold on any map decision for a while as the likelihood of a tekkit update soon is quite possible. There are rumours that a beta version is in testing. And now that FTB modpack has all the latest mods working with 1.4 in SMP (exception of RP) it shows that it is now possible. RP is very near (we are talking days rather than months) and my gut feeling is tekkit are waiting for RP and possibly TC3 and will then update to the latest mods and mc 1.4 MC 1.4 btw looks pretty good landscape and visually speaking.

out of curiosity, is it possible that yourself or an op are able to use WE to make a schematic of my house ? (in the event of a new map) I would like to copy it over to single player test world of tekkit. Just not sure If that is doable or not as I have only ever used WE schematic files in SSP. Or, in the event of a new map make the old one available for download ? Again I'm not sure if that works or not when using tekkit in SSP mode. I do know it won't work in Technic that's for sure. But would be kinda nice if we could have the old world and all it's creations as a single player tekkit world.

And do we have another new map in a months time when we encounter the same issues ? I think we are focusing on an area that will give short term relief for little long term gain. I will obviously repsect the wishes of the majority and or KS's decision. And I won't throw my toys out the pram. I will keep on playing and build again. But one thing I do ask, please don't let this hang over the server for weeks. It's things like this that kill a community as one by one people drift off not wanting to build in uncertainty. I prefer certain doom rather than endless uncertainty.

We seem to have a culture of keep blaming mods or items for the behaviour of individuals. That's why I am so in favour of action logging. If someone blasts a hole through the side of a mountain for no reason other than their pea sized brain told them to do so, then the person needs to banned. Not the tool that they used to carry out that particular moronic action. As for resetting map. It's only been a month or so that we have all been on it. I have plans... A lot of people play this game with the long haul in mind. It will be months yet before I even finish whats on my list now. And as for lag etc. A new map may indeed give us a server as smooth as silk. But 1 month after that we will still reach the same position. So I would hate to see a new map. I would hate to see any items banned. I would however be very much in favour of new player restrictions for say 3 weeks. By that time we know whether they can be trusted with such items and whether they will use them wisely or go nuts. Edit: also before people get into a state. This is a discussion.. KS has not said anywhere he plans to remove EE. The only times he ever mentioned it was possible restrictions down to MKI and mining with DC. So in fact so far he has not even hinted of banning any items outright. Second edit: As for EE3 and when it will be ready who knows. All I can say is apart from EE3 and RP all the major mods in tekkit are already up to date and mod packs are waiting on EE3 and RP. I can see a mod pack / tekkit update that uses the latest MC build and all the mods we love in the quite near future . For that I would be happy with a new start.

I tend to watch a lot of vids where mod developers play /beta test together on a single smp server. (i guess this gives them the best testing ground) I do this because I am interested in how mods develop etc. Anyway before I start projectile vomiting more text I just wanted to leave a paragraph written by Phanimar himself regarding EE3. Hope this may be of help. EE2 is gone as far as development goes. EE3 is meant to be a clean break. They are very aware of the unintended effects EE2 had on other mods. .............................................................. Quote..... I haven't compiled a final list of what is in EE3 yet for the public, but here is the short list of what is in/out; Red Matter has been removed Collectors have been removed Condensers have been removed The Destruction Catalyst/Hyperkinetic Lens have been removed The EMC system will remain, but it will be changed to accomodate new and more interesting mechanics There will be a method to move EMC around in "wires" More configuration options will be available to both players and server admins EE3 will feature an API, which is not complete at this time A transmutation system similiar to the Transmutation Tablet will exist, but is not ready to be disclosed at this time End Quote... As I said. If EE3 is in tekkit when the time comes, it will be a very different thing from what we are discussing. Just thought it was worth putting out there before the discussion went any further :)

When I saw that post I thought to myself, I hope he's prepared for the angry mob that will assemble with torches and pitchforks for even suggesting such a thing. It's as if a thousand players all cried out in horror and were then suddenly silenced. I agree with most of what you say for the reasons you gave. But I am always against banning items. Maybe MkI stuff for new players until they have reached a point. I don't know. Also if you ban collectors they just make blaze rod farms or similar. As for trans tables. Well you may as well remove EE all together. (that's a different argument though) Anyway my main reason for posting is if / when we reach a point of starting over chances are EE will not resemble what it is now. Pahimar has spent most of his time balancing the mod that he himself admits is horribly flawed. For example: In EE3 the philosophers stone will be quite hard to get. And there will be 2 versions. 1 extremely hard to get and expensive and another that takes damage and does not give 100% results every time. Also there are hundreds of posts all over the forums about EE and the effect it has on players and they never end well. It's also a pointless venture as the people who will defend it wont be around by that time. Hell, those people likely as not are bored already in less than a month of play and don't log on anyway. So little chance they will be around by then. I did chuckle though at the last post who's defence was, it would take a very long time to get red matter armour. That's kinda what the op is aiming for. TL DR... By the time this comes around the mod EE may not be in the Tekkit pack as we know it. The EE hardcore players will be playing a different game anyway. And finally there may be no tekkit at all with the changes to forge / bukkit and releases of new mod packs. All in all to little solid info about what the game will look like then to come to any conclusion.

If your able to take advice given in genuine good will, move on... Retain some dignity, and above all be honest in your applications to other servers. Most will turn you down flat. But some will respect honesty and be willing to give you a chance. When you are found out the time for honesty has already passed. And that opportunity is gone and can't be recovered It's better to learn these things on the net rather than real life where mistakes can ruin your life. You asked how long you have to do right before you are forgiven. It's not about forgiveness, it's trust. People will forgive, but trust is unlikely because for that to happen people have to make themselves vulnerable from abuse of that trust. In other words. Your asking a hell of a lot from people who owe you nothing. But it's not us you need to convince anyway. I wish you well and good luck. But I truly think you just need to put this one down to experience.

Wind mill not generating power
V00doocat replied to theduke9999's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
I take it when you say there is no power you are taking an EU reading from the cable ? If not, then a pic of your input to batbox / mfe / machine might shed some light on this as well. -
Sorry if you felt under the spotlight. I wasn't singling you out. Like I said there was a factory completed at the same time. 2 pages back in this thread most people are saying they would prefer restrictions, the removal of items, anything rather than downtime. No ones build on it's own is an issue but it all adds up. And the server problems have not gone away. The only reason I suggested a player number cap on the use of the farm is the shear amount of redstone, pistons, mobs and item drops. Not sure if flowing water adds load or not. So sorry if you felt singled out. Everyone is responsible during these times to keep the load on the server below its freak out point until the issues are resolved. New players are arriving every day so if we don't do something the downtime will only get worse untill the issues are identified. It's the reason I suggested a short term install of a diagnostic plugin that shows when and where the cpu and ram are being used. But anyway we had several pages of "what is the problem, and imo this n that should be done" So maybe we just leave to the admin team to get on with it. I know they are working on it amongst other things. Also it's dead easy for tensions to rise and people to misinterpret what others are saying when we start trying to work out why the crash happened. Yes, I realise I started it and did just that. I may go and knee myself in the groin for that.

It may be that at the moment with the problems the server has it just can't handle that many mob's + items (pearls) during busy times at the weekend when there is an overworld load as well. There was quite a few people online most of whom were in the overworld. And myself and Arach were in the end shortly before the server crashed. (I believe Arach was still there laying a few blocks when it died) Can't recall who but the nether was also being used and loaded. Someone in chat also reported the completion of their factory at the same time as this. So I think it is likely a load issue rather than anything badly built. (weekend player numbers) garrett was online keeping an eye on how many entities the world had at the time as well, so he may be able to remember just how much load the server was under regarding entities. A shame to say but we might just have to refrain from using it when the online player count gets too busy until the server problems are ironed out.

Wind mill not generating power
V00doocat replied to theduke9999's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Keep in mind the height at which the windmill is placed has an effect on it's output. And if the cable is over 39 blocks long with no transformer or type of storage unit splitting that cable into shorter lengths you will be loosing EU that way too. But as Silent said. A screenshot would be most helpful in pinpointing your problem. A couple from various angles would be cool. -
The self entitlement is strong in this thread. Nothing stopping people making, and updating their own mod packs. But I suspect a rage quit would take about five minutes, when everyone asks why you haven't updated the mods you have no control over. (directed mainly at op)

I know nothing about coding. And I really do mean nothing. But could it be a limited number of trees to a certain area ? That might explain why peoples trees grew when one was cut down. Is there some way Eloraams code could limit the number of trees in an area so in generation they don't go mad by a simple count ? If there was an occasional sweep of the area that did a count of trees and only allowed growth if the number was less than x. is that even possible ? Unlikely still I agree. Edit: or would they still need the metadata you spoke of to achieve that count ?
-
Well even if i get one to grow the info wont be of any use as I cut one down the other day to make room for a building project. So if mine did sprout up it would only be circumstantial information. But I will follow this with interest as I like those trees. However gavjenks makes a compelling case.
