  1. Are you putting a battery there, or trying to put something else there (coal?). They are electric machines, and if you do not have external power connected (zap arrow lit up red in gui), the bottom left slot is for a battery (not sure if an energy crystal would work). The 4 slots on far right are for upgrade options (overdrive, transformer upgrade, etc.)
  2. Title: Water Strainer texture incorrect after reconnecting to server Version: 3.1.2 OS: 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 Linux Java Version: openjdk-6 Description of Problem: If you set up a water strainer cluster (25 strainers total - 3 feeding Energy Link to pump) and initially power it to start, the water filters are initially all green. But if you disconnect and reconnect, they are all red even though they are still producing power. The tekkit wiki on water strainers mentions such a texture glitch, but apparently it has not been fixed yet. EXAMPLE: Temporarily disconnected Luminators from far transformer and that MFSU is fully charged. Ran Mass Fabricator from near MFSU. Far cluster of 22 units are producing 44 EU/t where cursor is at glass cable connecting them even though all water filters on both clusters appear to be red. Also if I stop the Mass Fabricator, the near MFSU charges at 88 EU/t from both clusters even though all water filters on both are red. The only way to tell they are active (other than EU meter) is that water blocks are still being grabbed from infinite water pools under them. Not sure how to embed an image in bug forum. Far cluster is producing 44 EU/t at cursor even though they are all red Error Messages: None Error Log: None
  3. If something wants a constant redstone signal to deactivate it, use stick switch or redstone torch. Or if you want to deactivate something that needs redstone to operate, use a stick switch to turn it on when you want to. I have had unattended fuel combustion engines blow up when I thought they had sufficient water cooling. As far as OP, just avoid creative mode or giving yourself free stuff. Someone changed my mode to creative on one server (and gave me access to /mode), but since tekkit is still 1.2.5 I could not get at my current inventory for panels for a frame door, so I changed myself back to survival. If you have EE you can do most anything you could in creative, and more eventually. Although, I did have to place some interdiction torches because creepers were bothering me when I was trying to build a demo of a frame door for someone else trying to figure it out.
  4. Make sure that the drop down logo in upper left of launcher shows Tekkit and not Technic. Are you trying to connect to open tekkit servers? If it is a whitelisted server or based on permissions you may have to contact someone related to the server before you will be allowed to connect to it.
  5. At the receiving end, try teleport pipe, wood pipe, stone pipe, then quarry (all conductive pipes). Maybe with wood pipe and no other pipe the power does not know which way to go. If each end does not show another pipe connected after setting both frequencies, you might be too far away (I believe there is a 150 block limit, or at least that has been my experience, even when using teleport tethers). Also make sure you do not have a pipe in your hand when accessing teleport pipe gui (your client will crash).
  6. Hopefully with that much RAM you have 64-bit Windows. But did you manually install 64-bit Java (usually not installed by default due to default 32-bit Internet Explorer). You didn't mention if client or server is crashing. But 64-bit Java should definitely help if trying to run both on same PC. The only time I have had tekkit client crash is if I try to open a teleport pipe gui when I have a pipe in my hand, or if I try to craft certain things that are banned (and I do not really know what is banned on that server, since it is a small server I joined to help someone with conductive pipes and Energy Link). I run minecraft or tekkit in 64-bit Linux because it annoyed me when Windows Updates suddenly jerked me out without warning rebooting.
  7. It looks like you are using 32-bit Java. By default only 32-bit Java is installed due to default 32-bit Internet Explorer. Assuming that your Windows really is 64-bit, you would likely benefit from manually installing 64-bit Java. That resolved this issue for another recent poster.
  8. Read the wiki about Teleport Tether, World Anchor, and Dimensional Anchor. Those can keep certain chunks loaded when you are absent.
  9. +1 for "residence". Users can set up multiple residences and tp between them. And flags can be set true or false to allow specific or all users to do certain things, or not. For example, by default "flow" is false, but if you want a fountain or infinite water source you can set "waterflow" true, which since "flow" is false, lava will still not flow (unless you set "flow" or "lavaflow" true). And with firespread false by default, if someone tries to grief you with lava it will remain 1 lava block without flowing and will not burn up your residence.
  10. 64-bit Java is NOT installed by default due to default Internet Explorer being 32-bit even in 64-bit Windows. So 64-bit Java has to be manually installed (32-bit Java does not really need to be uninstalled).
  11. Glass cable loses 1 EU/40 ft, and windmills output various EU/t depending upon wind. That may often drop to 0 EU in 30-35 blocks. Try putting a bat box near the 4 windmills, and then run glass cable down from there to another batbox (or MFEU or MFSU). The batbox up there will send it down in 32 EU/t increments as it accumulates from the windmills, so the 1 EU loss will just drop that to 31 and you will get most of the power that the windmills collect. http://thetekkit.wikia.com/wiki/Glass_Fibre_Cable
  12. In the first login screen of the technic launcher, does the logo in upper left say Technic or Tekkit? The logo is a drop down list and should be set to Tekkit. Also on a 3.1.2 server the radio button for "Always use recommended builds" should work at this time for 3.1.2|1.2.5. "Always use development builds" also worked for me on 3.1.2 server, but existing waypoints disappeared when switching back and forth between recommended and development builds. So for now I leave it on recommended.
  13. Does that teleport pipe gui show 2 pipes connected (or even 1, anything other than 0)? And are teleport pipes on receiving end set to Receive: true? On receiving end, try conductive wood, then conductive stone (somewhere I read that was required), then any conductive pipe. When I tried to go from power teleport pipe to wood right to gold, I don't think it worked. How far away are the receiving teleport pipes. I think there is 150 block (meter) range limit (in my experience) and the chunks need to be loaded on both ends. Look up "Teleport Tether" and put one of those near each end or to keep a chunk loaded for whatever else needs to operate. I have not tried long distance power yet, but I was able to pump refined fuel 300 meters by putting a relay station in the middle with teleport pipe into a single tank, and then wood out of tank (w/redstone engine) to another teleport pipe (no engine needed for power transmission). I had teleport tethers at all 3 locations (source, relay, end) and used wireless remote to start the flow when I was at the relay station. PS: You do not even need the generator there. Just put the solar array against a side of the MFSU, glass cable from dot side of MFSU to energy converter, then wood conductive pipe to power teleport pipe. Then you could charge the MFSU at 512 EU/t instead of greatly reduced, plus losses, through energy converter and generator. PPS: Just tried it with solar charged MFSU to energy converter with just wood conductive pipe from that to teleport pipe, then teleport pipe, wood and then stone conductive pipe to quarry, and it works (waypoint is at power source ~130 meters away). I put a water source in the dig just in case it hits lava. Note that like your image, there is not blue line in the wood pipe connected from energy converter, but it does pass power through to directly connected teleport pipe as evidenced by it coming out this end.
  14. Not sure where I saw that, but I think there is a 150 block limit, because if I go past that I get 0 connected pipes, even when using teleport tethers. I was able to pump over 300 meters by doing Tank > wireless receiver to redstone engine on wood pipe > 20+ meters gold pipe > teleport pipe (under 150 meters to) teleport pipe > cobble pipe> single tank > redstone engine wood pipe > teleport pipe (under 150 meters to) teleport pipe > cobble pipe > tanks. All pipes waterproof, and teleport tether at each location (3 total). Outet side of intermediate station (and its destination) have to be different frequency that source to intermediate station inlet. Receive should "only" be true for pipes that are to receive from a remote teleport pipe. What I need to try next is whether I can go almost 700 meters at once with intermediate teleport stations less than 150 meters apart. Wireless transmitters (not teleport pipe) supposedly has unlimited range if the receiver chunk is loaded, which with a toggle latch, could start pumps remotely. I found a gusher with huge oil bubble and refined over 250 tanks of fuel, but it is far away from my main base. And don't hold a pipe in your hand when accessing the teleport pipe gui (your client will crash).
  15. I am using 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 with openjdk-6 and have no problems running any version of minecraft (including snapshots of upcoming versions), and technic launcher works fine for tekkit 3.1.2. I have been using openjdk-6 to run minecraft successfully since minecraft 1.8 beta (in Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.10). Since there is a sticky movement key problem with default lwjgl 2.4.2, I have always used lwjgl 2.6 for minecraft. I tried setting latestLWJGL: true in .techniclauncher/launcher.properties for tekkit, but for some reason that has reverted to false. Oh well, at least I know that if a key sticks, I have to press the key in the direction I am moving to clear it (not the opposite direction). For desktop or unity launcher, you need to either need to launch a script in a terminal, or wrap a command line and parameters in single quotes launched by a shell (like sh -c 'java -Xmx2G -Xms1G -cp ~/MC-client/minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame'). But because the technic launcher backgrounds itself, I have not gotten a launcher to work for it, so I open a terminal and launch it with a script. Not sure why people say you need real Java (which requires proper installation and is no longer in repositories), when openjdk-6 has always worked fine for me (haven't tried openjdk-7).
  16. That is not uncommon at all since way back in minecraft beta. The nether portal was the nearest suitable place in the nether for your overland portal, and the overland portal that led to was the nearest suitable overland portal to the nether portal. If you want to go to your overland portal from the nether, figure out overland portal X and Z coordinates, divide those by 8 and put a nether portal there. That is what I did when I got lost in the nether in one game and it worked. I have not paid attention to how much the Y coordinate matters. But at least for X and Z, 1 nether block (1 meter) equals 8 overland blocks or meters.
  17. It is not always so bad when a bubble generates at a chunk corner. The bubble in the image below (just over half drained at the time) originally had a huge geyser at the corner where the glass block is. But a quarry I started digging too close, broke into the edge of the bubble, so I moved the pump near where I took the snapshot from. The skeleton must have popped out of what was then still in under oil cave on that side. I eventually had to put a pump back in the corner to drain the bottom of the bubble. Altogether, it netted over 250 "tanks" of refined fuel (7 x 32 tank towers + 28 tanks in a tower to fuel engines). If it had been a complete bubble it may have been around 1000 tanks. Not sure what to do with even 250 tanks of fuel. I learned that if you run combustion engines unattended (leave server), they can make a huge crater, even when properly cooled to never overheat (2 pumps with 4 redstone engines each in corners of 3x3 infinite pools cooling 4 fueled combustion engines running generator to charge MFSU set with redstone inverters to turn off engines when full ). All that was left when I returned was the MFSU next to a big hole in the ground.
  18. Note that default Java in 64-bit Win7 is 32-bit (which would be limited to around 3 GB max) due to default 32-bit Internet Explorer. So make sure that you actually (manually) installed 64-bit Java or that add/remove programs shows it 64-bit Java installed. Or try giving tekkit no more than 2 GB and see if it still happens. "Out of memory" can mean that you are trying to give it too much memory that it cannot access (especially if OS or Java is 32-bit).
  19. Tekkit 3.1.2 SMP client: 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 Linux using openjdk-6 I have not seen any mention of this anywhere, but when I have the Void Ring in an Alchemy Bag [i forget if it also works in personal inventory or just active inventory (bottom line)], but when it sucks things into the Alchemy Bag, those thing often multiply, including things you could craft, but cannot make with transmutation tablet (ie, things with no EMC). Not that I am complaining, since it has replicated free HV solar arrays, MFSU's, engines, refinerys, energy converters, pumps, quarrys, pipe, cable, etc. But since this is not mentioned in any wiki, I was just wondering if this is a feature of the void ring, or a bug. So when I break or disable something with a wrench, I just stand back and let the void ring do its thing, and often end up with more of those items than I had. PS: Zemerick, I do not have any added mods. It does not always happen, and probably only does when it gets sucked into the alchemy bag with the void ring, not when sucked into your personal inventory.
  20. This started happening for me in tekkit 3.1.2 SMP (64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 Linux client openjdk-6) sometime Saturday during the minecraft authentication server glitch. I don't have that problem with existing item, waterproof, or power teleport pipes, but when I freshly place a power or waterproof pipe and try to access the gui to set frequency, I get the dirt screen, then white screen, and it hangs (haven't tried new item ones yet). I am not op. I have been playing for long hours trying to learn everything and this never happened before later in the day Saturday. Maybe I'll try dumping everything in a chest and see if it still happens without anything else in my personal inventory. I don't have charged armor, just red gem helmet and chestplate and black matter greaves and boots [since red and gravity greaves have wrong skin (socks instead of pants), and hurricane boots do nothing]. I do have a Swiftwolf's ring. PS: I figured out my problem. I overlooked that the wiki says (without a pipe in your hand). Since I noticed that, I have not had any other issues accessing the gui of teleport pipes.
  21. Your post title is misleading, because you do not get electricity from "pumps" (pumps pump liquids). But you should be able to pipe electricity from conductive wood pipe at tip of engines, and then any conductive pipe from there. However, if you want to convert it to IC2 power, you need a generator. The HV generator in my case was overkill, because 4 fuel engines apparently only convert to around 46-48 EU/t. So I could feed a lot more engines into that generator. This shows 4 combustion engines running on refined fuel (added with buckets). Power meter reading was at glass fiber cable. I am using torch on side of block to turn the engines on, and MFSU is set to emit when full to turn the engines off. Tekkit 3.1.2 SMP, client: 64-bit Ubuntu Linux using openjdk-6 Now that I showed you on the server how to make electric pipes work with engines, something to note about your refineries blowing up is that maybe it is NOT someone griefing you. I guess it is true never to leave engines unattended while running (leaving the server or going far enough away that chunk unloads). When I went back to the server where I took the above snapshot, apparently the engines had blown up leaving a huge crater. 4 combustion engines, the generator, 4 redstone engines and 2 pumps evaporated, along with a number of tanks at the bottom of a tower of refined fuel nearby. All that was left was the MFSU, and water flowing into a big hole.
  22. How many engines of what type were you using, and what kind of conductive pipes? I know that 2 engines running refined fuel worked for me. But I am using gold conductive pipe other than 1 piece of wood conductive pipe at engine
  23. I had that trouble last night trying to run a quarry SMP, could not get any blue line or quarry to start from energy converter connected to a charged MFS that I had previously to power refinery and pump at another location and 2 refineries at this location. I thought maybe you had to put the energy link directly on the quarry, because I had seen a video of a quarry powered directly with steam engines mounted on it, but that did not work. I guess I had forgotten that someone mentioned that you need to use conductive wood pipe at the energy converter outlet and then stone (not cobblestone) conductive pipe to the quarry. It did NOT work when I used wood and then gold conductive pipe. Actually you do not even need a transformer, you can connect MFS outlet directly to energy converter with glass cable. That and solar arrays make a good portable quarry with enough reserve to get through the night and rainy/snowy weather once charged. So it works MFSU > Energy Link > wood conductive pipe > stone conductive pipe > Quarry PS: Once you have the wood and stone conductive pipe, you can extend it with gold conductive pipe. Once I had one quarry running, I extended the power with gold pipe to a 2nd next to it.
  24. The gravity greaves still have the wrong skin, like red matter greaves, in that they appear to be boot liners or socks instead of pants or leggings. In other words, your legs are bare and any other boots you put on go over the greaves boot liners. But for some reason I cannot even craft hurricane boots. Red matter boots, fully charged Klein Star Omega, and 2 Swiftwolf's Rending Gale rings per http://equivalentexchange.wikispaces.com/Gem+Armor does not craft anything (remains blank on right). So I wear abyss helmet and infernal armor chestplate, with black matter greaves and boots. With Swiftwolf's ring I can still fly, not take fall damage, and turn on a hostile mob force field around me, not to mention lightning bolting mobs when raining/snowing.
  25. Where did you make your overworld portal, near the surface or deep underground? I ended up in a cave like that the first time I went to the nether in minecraft beta. Not sure if you just need to dig horizontal or generally upwards. But have some dirt ready in case you hit lava.
