FYI, if people are waiting for a reply in the thread to find out if they have been whitelisted, you will be notified via PM and not by a reply in the thread (as was clearly stated in the main post).

ID = 4096 EMC (half of a diamond), IC = 64 EMC. I figured anything worth less than 64 can be sold in multiples.

So since people have brought it up, for now you'll still be allowed to use RM/ DM as currency for ultra expensive items in shops. I'm trying to see if there's an item that would work well as top tier currency, but I haven't had much luck so far.

All of the activity near the skyscraper has been me. What can I say, I've been bored . I though about putting some sort of express elevator into the skyscraper, but it would have taken up too much space. As far as currency goes, we're using both Industrial Diamonds AND Industrial Credits. The credits will be the low end currency, while the diamonds will be the high end one.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the bank and currency exchange are now finished, so if you own a shop in town, please switch over to the new currencies ASAP. I left signs in shops to remind anyone who doesn't see this post, but hopefully we can all get switched over soon. Also, the skyscraper I was building is now finished, so for those of you that asked about putting offices in it, feel free to reserve a space now!

I was planning on getting a small one for it (<100GB), and Newegg has a bunch on sale right now, so it won't be a very large investment. After experiencing the difference between an SSD and a HDD on my main rig, I feel comfortable getting a cheap one even just for the quick boot/ load times.

I have a 150Mb/s down, 65Mb/s up fibre connection, and I don't plan on starting a server farm. I plan on using it to host my current Tekkit server, in addition to using it as a media server for my home network. I was looking at that processor mainly because of the price and the clock rate, and I figured that if I decide to do anything with it down the road (I.e using it as a HTPC), the integrated GPU will come in handy. I'm probably going to stick with Windows until I'm a little more familiar with Linux, although I may decide to switch over in the future. Also, scratch the RAMdisk question, I'm definitely gonna go with an SSD instead.

So after receiving a bunch of Newegg gift cards for Christmas, I've decided to use part of them to build a new rig for my Tekkit server. Right now I'm looking at one of the new AMD A6 CPUs (A6-5400k, LINK) and a compatible Micro ATX motherboard/ case/ PSU, but I still haven't decided on what I'm doing as far as RAM and storage go. My problem with the RAM and storage is that I can't decide between running a HDD, SSD, or RAMdisk. I figure that if I go with an SSD or HDD, I can get away with using 8GB of RAM, but I'll probably end up going with 16GB if I decide to use a RAMdisk (I have an unused HDD lying around that I plan on using regardless for server backups/ etc). Does anyone have any experience with real world performance differences between the various storage solutions?

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas, and I wanted to let you all know that I'll be on the server a lot over the next 3 days since I managed to get a few days off of work. On a related note, I'll be ordering the parts for the new server tonight, so hopefully they'll be here by Saturday or Sunday. Also, since I've seen a few people looking for work in game, I wanted to let people know that I'm looking for help in rebuilding some of my old buildings and starting a few new ones.

So I just thought I should let you guys know, I took a look at some of the new stuff people have built since the last time I was on for a while, and all I have to say is DAMN. As in DAMN, that stuff is impressive .

I double checked it earlier, you should be able to get on now. Also, since I STILL haven't gotten around to it, if anyone is interested in building a bank for the currency exchange, you can feel free to finish/ tear down the one I started.

I think I already whitelisted you. I'll double check right now, so you should be able to get on momentarily regardless.

Wargarbl is working on some too, I'm not really looking for anything to specific, but it would be nice to have some sort of banner or large image for the main post. I was thinking a few headers for the subsections (I.e applications, rules, etc.) might help to make it look better too. Feel free to use creative liberty though, I'm not even remotely artistically talented myself. There should be some screenshots at the link on the main post, but feel free to take some yourself too. As a side note, if anyone wants to submit screenshots or request some of their creations, feel free to shoot me a PM or post a reply.

I just finished updating the original post on the thread, and I'm in the process of adding some new screenshots as I type this. I'm going to make some time tomorrow night to do some work on the server. ALSO, it's not definite yet, but I MAY be getting a Christmas present for everyone this year. Given that I have a habit of buying myself new parts with all of the Newegg gift cards I inevitably get, I might decide to focus those resources on finally building that new server . ALSO also, the main post looks kind of bland, and my artistic skills are non existent. If someone else has any artistic ability and wouldn't mind creating a main banner and possibly a few headers, it would be VERY much appreciated (and may earn you a special rank once I get the new permissions set up )

I apologize again for the lack of activity/ delays in responses lately, I've had some more personal stuff going on as well as finals. Fortunately, my last final is tomorrow morning, so as soon as I'm done celebrating the end of the semester, I'll put some time aside to get some work done for the server. I'm going to redo the intro post for the server thread as well as add some new screenshots to the gallery. I'll also take a look at the whitelist, so if there's anyone that's still waiting on an application, please shoot me a PM so that I know to take a look at yours specifically. I also want to give a personal thank you to Epyon and Garrett, you guys have done a stellar job keeping things running smoothly while I've been busy, and I really appreciate it .

I apologize for the lack of activity lately on my part, I've had a lot of personal crap going on for the last 2 weeks in addition to classwork/ my job. I'll have some free time tonight when I get home, so I'll go through applications and take a look at the server to see if I can find out where the lag issues are coming from.

I saw everyone get kicked, so that might have been it. I just figured I'd take the oppertunity to do a quick restart of the server box. Should be back up within 5 minutes or so .

I see on your website that your clan is semi PvP oriented. I would be happy to let you bring other people to the server (provided that they apply themselves or that you agree to take full responsibility for them), but I want to remind you that random PvP isn't allowed on the server. If you agree to duke it out with someone else, that's fine, but you're not free to wander around conquering and looting. Also, I AM back from my trip, I just didn't get a chance to post yesterday since I was busy catching up on classwork.

I'm gonna tinker around with 3.1.3 on a copy of the current world when I get home on Sunday night/ Monday after class. If everything works well, I'll probably update the server once the devs push 3.1.3 to recommended.

The currency system is mainly going to be a tool to replace all of the various currencies people are using in their shops. I had been thinking about doing it when people first started setting up shops, but I haven't gotten around to it until now. The comment about being able to exchange them for raw materials in addition to other players' goods is definitely something I'll have to look into though. I originally figured that players would eventually make shops to supply raw materials on their own, but as I said, I'll look into something like that. Sorry about the slow response, the past week has been pretty crazy.

I THINK I added you, but I'll double check just to make sure. I also wanted to let our current players know that tomorrow I will be building a bank in the marketplace to start an in game currency system using in game items. I'll have more details for you tomorrow, but this should eliminate the hassle of having to put change machines in each shop and having to use different items for currency in different shops.
