bmendez0415 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Is there any way to get past an MFFS? Someone on the server I play on decided to put a huge spherical force field with a zapper upgrade around his whole base which happens to be very close to mine. The force field comes dangerously close to the exit of my house and if anyone entering isnt careful they will get zapped to death. I there any way to get past one of these and deactivate them?

No, you'll have to talk things over with him so he can give you a security card allowing you safe contact with the forcefield. If he doesn't want, you could make another forcefield, even bigger and dangerous, so HE would get... hurt.

Dodge34 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I see a MFFS war coming soon if there's no ways for server OPs to bypass or restrict the use of that thing (maybe using towny or any bukkit plugin like Izone or Residence) it could get dangerous, griefers could have a load of fun with that. It would be sad to see that go away cause it looks awesome but if nothing can bypass and restrict the zone of a MFFS for the regular players I feel this mod will get deleted from my server before even starting to use it.

A server i played on did that with energy condensers. That way they can still have it but an admin has to regulate it.

I'm actually thinking of replacing Factions with MFFS on my server. You can just blow up another faction with a mining laser in explosive mode or nukes so it doesn't really do anything. MFFS is effective against both of those, 100% as far as my tests go.
joe5 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 as far as i know the id cards only work on the current version (with the smp focus) and not the spin of that tekkit uses which is much more ssp focused have they switched to the dark thunder version? also, their are some ways into a mffs forcefield assuming that he has not taken the adequat precautions and you are an op (or they are okay with this). i have spent a fair number of hours testing mffs for my own server so if you still need some help with this problem feel free to ask
bmendez0415 Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 What ways are there to get in? You said there were ways but didn't mention any. If it helps, he already dug every block that his MFFS would be blocked by, so his MFFS wraps completely around his house area.
djdisturbed Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 there are no ways to get in, the security card thing works only on ThunderDark's newer version, Immibis does not have a way to get past the mffs, and when someone asked him to put in a way to get past the shield he said no, and to be more careful next time and dont die inside of the mffs b/c there is no way to shut it off once you are outside the area. BUT you could just remove the mod from the mods folder and take it out of the server, that should shut it down, but not sure if that will mess the server up or not b/c you have those blocked being used on the map

Semisubzero Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I have the exact opposite problem! On my server, players are able to tunnel under my mffs because it doesn't refresh quick enough to regenerate down there. Is there a way to increase the refresh time? I found an option in the config for refresh time but I can't find any documentation on it on which direction that number should go (up or down)
VideoBoy Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 A less drastic solution would be to have the admin use MCedit to remove the force field block and the force fields themselves. If you're gonna cheat, just /tppos inside. I have the exact opposite problem! On my server, players are able to tunnel under my mffs because it doesn't refresh quick enough to regenerate down there. Is there a way to increase the refresh time? I found an option in the config for refresh time but I can't find any documentation on it on which direction that number should go (up or down) I bet the number should be lower (faster refresh) but that'll probably lag your server up. Just don't turn it off in the first place. The way I'm setting up my new base is using teleporters to go in and out. :P
Semisubzero Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Thats what I thought, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference when I changed the rate from 100 to 2000. Also, I have a wireless reciever hooked up to a remote so I can remotely disable it to get through without needing to waste EU. It also reduces the chances of someone finding my teleporter :P
bmendez0415 Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 You could break every block it would go through so it completely surrounds your area.
Semisubzero Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 oh god, that would look so ugly and take a ton of work since we've maxed out the projector to cover it all :P
VideoBoy Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 You could break every block it would go through so it completely surrounds your area. Or install a zapper upgrade... XD
Semisubzero Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Doesn't the zapper only zap if you touch it? You can dig underneath without touching it.
VideoBoy Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Doesn't the zapper only zap if you touch it? You can dig underneath without touching it. Hmm... True. I just realized that the base I'm currently designing will have the same problem as yours... time to redesign... thanks bro. ;_;
Semisubzero Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Check to make sure it isn't just my server thats being slow first :P
VideoBoy Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Check to make sure it isn't just my server thats being slow first The single player server I'm designing in on is a pretty fast computer. Forcefield appears like twice as fast as my public server and I could still get through with a jetpack... XD
IceCream Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Video, Can i have the IP of your server so i can play? ;]
bmendez0415 Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 oh god, that would look so ugly and take a ton of work since we've maxed out the projector to cover it all I mean, forcefields really cant get much uglier and the empty spaces at the bottom of the forcefield are hardly noticable so that's your best bet.
Xylord Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I mean, forcefields really cant get much uglier and the empty spaces at the bottom of the forcefield are hardly noticable so that's your best bet. Well, to be honest, I find that a spherical force field bubble surrounding a nice base actually looks pretty good.
Semisubzero Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I used the camo upgrade with a glass pane so its invisible
gavjenks Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I have no idea what the recipe is for it, but the block breaker upgrade makes it so that your force field automatically breaks every block it goes through. It works fine on creative mode when I magic one into existence. Not a lot of work at all - does it for you.
