Salkras Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I am aware that the Technic Pack uses some sort of "mod" to downgrade the minecraft.jar and then launches as the downgraded version, so does anyone have any knowledge on how to do this yet?
Blodskaal Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I was wondering how to do this too. I did put all the vanilla minecraft 1.4.7 files in the bin folders, including libs, version and md5 information, but it still downloads the new one. (Why is there no option to not upgrade as in the vanilla launcher?) I did replace the minecraft.jar 1.5.0 file in the temp folder when downloading with the 1.4.7 jar, but that didn't work either. I'll try some more things.
Salkras Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 We cant really do much, after all we may do it but its not that good for the players having to do it themselves. We could put the 1.4.7.jar files in the modpack.jar but thats breaking Mojang copyright
Salkras Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 It did just occur to me that the launcher page has the option for "What version of MC is this?" so maybe the team will eventually do something with that to do auto downgrades
Blodskaal Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I tried to replace the 1.4.7 version file with the 1.5.0 one. Alas the launcher isn't tricked and still tries to download it. Does anyone know whether there's a way to make the launcher realise that it already has the correct minecraft files?
Blodskaal Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Of course breaking the copyright is out of the question. The point is that I have the files, but I want the launcher to realise that. I wondered if there was a way to do this without reprogramming/modding the launcher.
theprolo Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I'm pretty sure there's an option in the modpack settings on the platform which allows you to select the Minecraft version.
Salkras Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 There is but as of now it only tells people what version its made for, it doesnt actually do any downgrading or anything
Cheremenin Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 To be honest It's my first ever experience with PLATFORM (not just old plain launcher with no multi-modpack functions), and it just had to happen in such a good time of 1.5 release, meaning i can't try out the things until it updates ;_;
freakachu Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 just dropping by to remind people to please, never include the minecraft.jar file, no matter what version, in your platform modpacks. the launcher ignores it as you've discovered and it is copyright infringement to do so.
Forum Administrators sct Posted March 13, 2013 Forum Administrators Posted March 13, 2013 When new Minecraft versions release we have to make adjustments to accommodate that. This is why there were issues this morning. It is all resolved now. Downgrading happens automatically and you don't have to do anything on your part.
Teraku Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 It's resolved? That's great news! Guess I no longer have to distribute my own binary difference patchers to friends anymore.
its_a_builder Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Go to settings (the one under the modpack selection) Then click reset modpack or something
