Question

I am unable to use the launcher due to reasons beyond my control, and I am wondering where to get the files to put into the jar and such. I want to get all the mods and stuff because plain industrial craft and build craft gets boring.

Having to use hacked clients to play without a buying the game is actually completely within your control.

You're not even the 20th person to ask/beg/con/demand a non-launcher technic pack. The answer is, has always been, and will always be a resounding No!

I am not using a hacked client. If you really must know, our computer has the freakiest anti-virus software to ever walk the face of this earth, and my parents won't let me remove it. I have to have a password to even get in and change the settings, and I can't allow the launcher to run.

It's norton, but like I said, something has been done to it so now it's password protected. I think it might have AVG and mcafee as well

Wait, what? Norton AND Avg AND Mcafee? No wonder you can't run the launcher... Go talk to your parents, before I go mad!

If you cannot use the launcher then your only option is to download all of the mods, install them manually and then setup the config files yourself to get them up and running.

MCnostaliga is a good way to revert your minecraft to an earlier version as technic uses the 1.1 version right now.

Best of luck.

Better, but still a rather vague answer.

Norton has a file exclusion list you can add the launcher to. If you can't make the case that your $30 game is nigh worthless without the exclusion, then too bad.

You aren't sure if you also have AVG and McAfee? Rather suspicious, seeing as you claim to have all three of the antivirus products that are often reviled on this board.

If you do infact have them, explain to your parents that three competing products will interfere with each other, and infact protects you less than a single product would. Not to mention three products constantly scanning everything is a sure way to destroy your harddrive.

Though no matter what, the technic guys aren't about to reverse their stance and add a lot of extra work for themselves just to satisfy a single player, legit account or not.

honestly, if this kid's parents are actually dumb enough to put 3 antivirus programs on their PC, I doubt any amount of explanation would change things. that of course assumes that everything he's said is true.

basically OP, if you're being honest you are screwed and if you're lying you're simply stupid. nobody here can help with either of those problems.

Sorry about previous replies. I was at my grandmas house on my 3DS. Our computer is set up so I have a non administrative account, and we have Mcafee, Norton, and AVG. It's a pain in the butt. It auto-deletes the file when I try to open it. What should I do?

Like I said before, three competing products will interfere with each other and provide less protection than a single one will. Plus scanning the same file three times creates 3x the wear and tear on the harddrive.

If you can't convince them from those facts alone, then sorry, you're screwed.

:( will individual install work?

In theory, yes, if you installed everything in the same order as the technic crew, and used the same IDs, everything would work, mostly.

Is there a how-to for that?

Nope. There's not enough demand for it, most of us use the launcher. You should work on your parents and convince them to stop using multiple bad antivirus programs. One good one will do much more for them.

Good lord. The three worst antivirus programs, all of which cost recurring money, and all three are on your computer? Your parents are literally throwing their money away and your computer is going to die. It's just a matter of time, but the whole thing will die.

Well, there's a AVG free...

Microsoft Security Essentials is pretty good for Windows-based OSes. PandaCloud is also quite good, though not together, since their def files will have a war. I use Linux for work, which doesn't require any automated virus software :).
