Replacement for Mining Drill / Batpack?

I am going through pickaxes at a fast rate. What are people using to replace the mining drill / batpack combo?

Modular Powersuits has an amazing glove (http://wiki.technicpack.net/Power_Fist); once equipped with a power pickaxe it slices through everything like butter (well, almost). It's not quite a mining drill, but it's fast. Of course, you need to power the fist, etc.

Thank you, I was leaning toward that. Whats the best way to charge up the Power Suit? I used to use the Lapatron Charging Pad or a Charging Bench. I don't see those available now.

For charging Power Suit armor and the Power Fist, you're going to want to make an Energetic Infuser.

I heard some form of power tools are going to be added in Thermal Expansion 3.1.

Best way is to balance the power consumption against power regeneration you get from solar Generator on helmet and Kinetic Generator on the legs. A balanced suit never have to be recharged.

Considering a power suit can hold easily 10 million units of energy I really don't see a reason to bother with generators :|

Personally I play a fair amount and have to recharge it like once every 2 weeks...

Because of this thread I decided to give MPS a shot, and I am in love! Something else to keep in mind is that you can carry a full REC and use its charge as a backup. I keep one in my backpack just in case I forget to charge my tool, since it'll only deplete when it's in your regular inventory.

The modular power-suit tool is ugly. I refuse to use it.

I do hope Dwwojcik is correct about power tools coming to thermal expansion.

If they add buildcraft tools we would have nice early/mid game power tools.
