awsomeaassasin Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 So, after numerous bug fixes and different problems with my custom pack, I decided to finish it once and for all. I checked all of the mod in the file and archived it. After the link was set up I decided to test it. It successfully downloaded the files but when it started unzipping files it gave this error: Error unzipping a file for the following pack: Ultimate Adventure Craft IllegalArgumentException while parsing next element. Please consult the modpack author. (me) In case you would like to evaluate the modpack yourself here are some links: Modpack Adress: http://www.technicpack.net/api/modpack/ultimate-adventure-craft Modpack Page Adress: Link (Currently Hidden) Please try to help!
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted March 25, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted March 25, 2014 So, it looks like you are trying to make a 1.6.4 pack (albeit with some outdated mods), but are using version 7.8.0.696 of Forge which is for 1.5.2 (and even that is way old for 1.5.2). What is your goal here?
awsomeaassasin Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Ok, so I replaced the modpack.jar with the 1.6.4 version and got the exact same error. Could there be another problem?
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted March 25, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted March 25, 2014 You found an old version of Forge somewhere. Get the latest version for 1.6.4 from their site. You have an extraneous "Ruins_1.6.4.zip" file in the root of your archive. The platform really doesn't like extraneous files scattered around and this could cause problems. Remove it. You have old versions of many mods (Galacticraft, Mekanism, Thaumcraft, Waila, etc.) which have known bugs/crashes/problems. Updated to the latest recommended or working versions (sometimes this is a "dev" build). You have an incomplete installation of Galacticraft. You are missing Galacticraft Planets. Get this when you get your updated version of Galacticraft. It isn't strictly required, but it provides additional content (Mars) which is quite nice. You do not have ForgeMultipart installed. While this isn't strictly required it does provide microblocks with the ability to cover cables and of course gives you lots of decorative options. You are not including any config files in your pack. This is always a bad idea even if your mods don't default to configs that do not have item/block/entity/biome ID conflicts. All that being said, using my own BareBonesPack (empty Forge modpack anyone can use to start a pack, only has Forge) I was able to copy over just the mods (without that extraneous file in the root of your archive) and it worked fine. awsomeaassasin 1
awsomeaassasin Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Thanks for the help. Still, can you explain the concept of putting in config files? The only instances I have seen config files is when I went into my .minecraft folder when I was testing the pack on forge. P.S: I've tried to download the latest forge version off of the site, but all the downloads for 1.6.4 forge give me a .jar file. I use Win-rar, so I'm not sure how to archive these.
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted March 27, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted March 27, 2014 Forge: 99.99% of the time all you need to do is download the Forge universal binary (.jar file) and rename it to "modpack.jar". You don't need to mess with it. Configs: You need to be testing your pack locally before you try pushing it up to the platform. As I mentioned, I highly recommend you use something like my BareBonesPack to have a blank pack to start from. Add in your mods (and other supporting files if you have them) and when you start the pack you will get config files in the config folder. These are what you need to fine tune before including them in your final pack archive which you would then use in your own pack. The BareBonesPack can also be handy when it comes time to update your pack so you can "mess around" in a different area than your main pack folder. awsomeaassasin 1
awsomeaassasin Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 This sounds like a good idea. How do you access the BareBonesPack?

awsomeaassasin Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 So how do you put the mods in the pack? Where exactly in the files?
awsomeaassasin Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) I tried to download BareBones and it crashed me: ( Please submit this report to https://github.com/TechnicPack/TechnicLauncher/issues ) Launcher Build: 431 Selected Pack: null Stack Trace: Exception: NullPointerException Message: null Trace: net.technicpack.launchercore.install.ModpackInstaller.installPack(ModpackInstaller.java:70) org.spoutcraft.launcher.InstallThread.run(InstallThread.java:65) System Information: Operating System: Windows 7 Operating System Version: 6.1 Operating System Architecture: amd64 Java version: 1.7.0_45 64 bit Total Memory: 128 MB Max Memory: 885 MB Memory Free: 69 MB CPU Cores: 4 No idea what to do. Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted March 28, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 When using the BareBonesPack, one must select the version of Forge in the pack settings before launching for the first time.
awsomeaassasin Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Hmmm... Where would that be exactly?
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted March 28, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Each pack has a small gear symbol at the bottom left. That is the settings icon. Click that and select your Forge version.
awsomeaassasin Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Ok, so I selected my forge version and it successfully launched, and it was only forge, which was to be expected. Now what do I do?
awsomeaassasin Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 I put the mods in the folder, then I try to start the pack. It loads and everything, but it just closes and opens again as if the client never starts. Weird, because before my modpack got the unzipping error, this is what happened.
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 3, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Not sure what you are needing at this point. I am able to add your pack to my launcher and it starts up in SSP just fine.
awsomeaassasin Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 It just gives me a parsing error and an IllegalArgumentException.
awsomeaassasin Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 Console: [b#439] InstalledPack{info=PlatformPackInfo{name='ultimate-adventure-craft', displayName='Ultimate Adventure Craft', url='https://dl.dropbox.com/s/lfakktnmi2drrah/UltimateAdventureCraft1.0.zip' icon=null, logo=net.technicpack.launchercore.restful.Resource@46d4914b, background=net.technicpack.launchercore.restful.Resource@2d8ef741, minecraft='1.6.4', forge='null', version='1.0', solder='', forceDir=false}, name='ultimate-adventure-craft', platform=true, build='recommended', directory='%MODPACKS%ultimate-adventure-craft'}
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 3, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 That is not an error message. I add your pack URL to my launcher and it starts right up. You must have something else going on.
