WorstMinecrafterEver9 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Hello, I am planning on building a custom laptop for gaming and I was wondering if anyone wanted to help me out with ordering parts and all that hub bub. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. I will have a max spending limit of 1000 or so.

Honestly you can't even "build" a laptop, they have a far greater lack of standardization of parts, unlike desktops. Besides as dwwojcik said desktops are far superior.
WorstMinecrafterEver9 Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 The problem is that i do not currently have an area where I can set up a desktop and a laptop is currently 50x's more convenient.
miniboxer Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 You can't have laptop, gaming, and under 1000$ unless if "is bad at" prefaces the gaming part. Build a desktop, I can guarantee you can find a case that will fit how much room you have.
Lethosos Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I hear there are microcases out there smaller than a shoebox. You'll have to figure out cooling on your own, though.
WorstMinecrafterEver9 Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 I have a couple old clip on fans that worked fairly well for the last laptop that I had.
Liszt's Right Hand Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Well, it kind of depends on whether your old laptop was a doddery Windows Vista with just enough RAM to run PowerPoint, or a power-consuming monster that could run anything on ultra with no problems what so ever. Because at the end of the day, if your going to get a high-spec custom built laptop with a $1000 budget. Then a few old 'clip-on fans' would be great if you were deciding to keep it intact for less than 5 minutes . Unfortunately there isn't lots in the way of accessibility when it comes to building laptops. Not to mention. as soon as you get even close to what a gaming Desktop PC can do with a $1000 budget, your probably looking at twice the price! I built my PC with way over £1000 budget and it still doesn't come out to be a flawless when it comes to games (don't get me wrong, it's still bloody amazing!). So with that in mind, I would first advise you to get a Gaming PC and not a Gaming Laptop just for the fact you would get far more value for money over there . It would also depend on what games your playing, if your just playing minecraft and other low intensive games then ignore everything I just said, however when someone says 'gaming laptops/PCs', it usually means optimized for everything you can possibly throw at it. Finally, I wish you all the best with your hunt for the right Gaming PC/Gaming Laptop. It took me nearly 4-5 months before I was completely happy with what I wanted so the moral of the story is, if you find an absolute jaw-dropper of a deal. Chances are, there's gonna be a better one right next to it .

dwwojcik Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Can you take a Desktop with you to Grandma's house? Didn't think so. Spend time with your grandmother instead of playing video games?
MCMaster87 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Why don't you get a Asus Republic Of Gamers Laptop
Flying_Flames_13 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Spend time with your grandmother instead of playing video games? Well yeah, but what about when she's tired.
dwwojcik Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Well yeah, but what about when she's tired. Call it a day and head home?
