ok, so i got technic for mac, all i did was run the jar file, and it came up to the launcher. it takes forever (10-15 minutes) to load any of the packs, all i've gotten to play was the crafting dead because i went afk on the launcher for 10 minutes, and by the time i got back, it only just started the actual game. any help?!?!?!

Not too unusual, depending on your internet connection. The first time you run a pack is the time when the launcher downloads it, and large packs can be several hundred MiB in size. Start time should be considerably faster the second time you start a pack.

Technic =/= Tekkit.

Launcher problems go in the tracker. This area is for discussing the Tekkit modpack. Any Tekkit modpack problems go in the tracker as well, not here.

Custom modpacks, the ones you get from the Platform and add to the launcher, are supported by the custom pack creator through the discussion tab of the platform page.
