  1. Curse did contact Kaker, he turned them down. It was mentioned already on a few posts in this thread, including one on this page.

    Yes, I know that. I was just saying that before the fact that they did contact Kaker came to light, I wondered why they didn't do that first. And now we know the truth.

  2. One night off and this shit happens. I did wonder how come Curse didn't contact Kaker first if they wanted a huge userbase, because surely Technic has a wider audience than FTB does.

    I was wondering this as well. I figured that maybe they viewed the Technic pack as too much of a rouge/unofficial force to be worked with, but I'm interested to see that this was not the case.

  3. Or how about moving the ads to the bottom of the page into a box that is clearly labeled something along the lines of:

    "ADVERTISEMENTS - These pay for Technic so you don't have to!"

    Or just plain labeling the ads. That's what makes them confusing to most people in the first place.

    (If that doesn't violate any terms of service or anything, of course.)

  4. That's a great thought, and one we hadn't considered at all. But honestly, I'm not sure we'd be able to find it again. He was exploring the Twilight alone and was underground at the time. Would just deleting the Twilight and allowing the game to regenerate it possibly work? Or is there any way to just disable the mod that created the mob? I was surprised by the fact that there was a WIP on the live servers, I have never encountered that before and now would like to never encounter it again.

    If the server's logs are intact from when whoever killed the glitch-mob was trying to re-login, you should be able to get the coordinates from those. You could then give us the crash report, or if you're feeling lucky, take the server offline and have the owner investigate the area directly using an external editing tool on the world files.

    Assuming that isn't an option, if I understand how minecraft stores mobs correctly, re-genning the Twilight Forest should work if it is indeed that weird mob causing the problem. I kinda doubt that it is, but it could be worth a shot.

    (Oh, and you shouldn't sign your posts. There's a rule against it here. Best to edit it out quickly.)

  5. I tried Planetside. Minimum settings killed my computer.

    That said, they did apparently optimize the game not long ago - perhaps I could run it now.

    Depends on how badly it killed your computer before. Apparently, those with >2 cores see the most benefit.

  6. I came to that conclusion as a 10-year old. I thought to myself one time in the car on the way home...

    :P

    That reminds me of another interesting problem. Consciousness continuity. As in, all of those "live forever" concepts people have come up with like brain scanning/uploading, etc. don't really work, because even if the copy is an exact molecular copy of you, (including the "soul" or whatever), it's still not *you*. Your consciousness is physically tied to *you*.

  7. Nah, I'm leaning towards something more military. Like a flash animation where you have to turn a key, then pull a lever that releases a hatch above a giant flashing red button. Klaxons should go off when you download it, along with a "Warning. Nuclear launch imminent" automated voice.

  8. With an iron pipe you need something like this:

      R

     -+-

      W

    R = redstone signal

    W = wooden pipe (input)

    - = any pipe (output)

    + = iron pipe

    With a redstone control module you need something like this:

    R

    X+-

     |

    R = redstone signal

    X = pipe with redstone control module

    + = pipe

    | = pipe (output)

    - = pipe (input)

    Yeah. I was doing it wrong. Very wrong. *facepalm* Don't ask.

    Yours works on non-iron pipes though.

  9. In Buildcraft you can do something similar using an iron pipe.

    I know, but it was always a pain to set up and took up valuable room in my cramped machine rooms. This is much nicer.

    I should reiterate that I don't think this is a good power transfer system. But if someone wants to do it (maybe they don't have space for a cable) then they can. You could fabricate lava, fill it into buckets and send the buckets down a pipe into a combustion engine, if you wanted, but nobody does that.

    Eh, to each his own I suppose. I don't know, I've never gotten to try it, so it might be a terrible idea that just sounds cool to me. You're the developer though, I'm just here to give ideas because you said you wanted them.

  10. Sorry for being so vague, I'll try to answer whatever questions you may have. He IS connected to my network and the ip-address in the server.properties is set to the hamachi IP. However, if you have a dynamic IP, how does that confuse hamachi? Isn't that what hamachi is for? (putting it simply) I thought it was to connect through hamachi so you don't have to worry about stuff like that?

    I'm.... actually not too sure about the specifics. I haven't used hamachi in over a year. I just know that every time my router was rebooted, it got a new ip, and my old hamachi connections stopped working, (They looked like they would work, and you could chat with them, but they didn't really work for what I was doing), so I had to re-do them all by making a new hamachi network. I'd try that before anything else.

  11. He's using hamachi, and he's connected to your hamachi network... right? (Your description is kind of vauge)

    Failing that, If your router has a dynamic IP/your IP changes when you reset it like mine does, that can cause all sorts of funkyness with Hamachi. You'll likely have to each create a new network and rejoin together.

    Other than that, is your minecraft server set to use your hamachi IP?
