An error when connecting to tekkit servers
Mooseman9 replied to Kirbyy's question in Technic Launcher
This post does not belong here. This is for the Technic Launcher, once you get into Technic or Tekkit, you shouldn't post here. -
When I try to open a server something wierd happens...does any one know why
Mooseman9 replied to Nate Brock's question in Technic Launcher
This is not the right section to post this in. Follow the rules, and your time here will be enjoyable. -
I downloaded the windows launcher for technic
Mooseman9 replied to Austinx55's question in Technic Launcher
Don't bump your posts, you're not more important than everybody else. -
Delete the entire Technic Launcher and the files and redownload. If you're still getting the error, can you tell me if you did anything to the folders?

Small Scale Recruitment Thread
Mooseman9 replied to The Merchant of Menace's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Hey, I would like to play with you. I consider myself a good builder and I am experienced with all the mods in the Tekkit Pack. Your server sounds delightful and it sounds good to play on with another person. Please consider me. Thanks. -
Make sure your Java is 64-bit, if your computer is. Once that is done, make sure you only have one installation of Java on your computer.
-
I'll sum up the whole argument for you. If thou does not enjoy the usage of the mod Equivalent Exchange, then thou shalt not play it.

I like your newest release Moogle. I guess I should download them so I can listen to them on my iPod. I think I'll do that later. Anyway, great music Moogle, keep doing what you do. Edit: Down To Earth reminds me of Super Meat Boy. Sounds a lot like some of the tracks in there.

Hmm, looks like ComputerCraft is causing the problem. Try deleting CC. If that doesn't work, or you want to keep CC, delete your technic folder altogether, and backup your saves if you want them. If that STILL doesn't work, delete the launcher and the files and redownload it.

Well, I have to say, great effort on the troll post, but virtual legos are not something to cry over. Please VermillionX, wipe your sweaty tears off the computer and go play some virtual legos with your virtual 'friends.' Be sure to get some sleep soon, you're starting 6th 8th grade tomorrow.

Well, after reading VermillionX's latest post, I have to say I agree. He is obviously just a massive troll, ignoring most points of everyone's arguments. Well, my argument really. Let the thread die, and don't feed the troll any longer.

Hmm.. Might be a problem with the ItemRenderedHD.class. I don't have Balkon's Weapons Mod patched, as I use 64x, so I wouldn't know.

Fine, I'll take the bait. First question, With EE, why mine at all? Mining is the only way of getting the materials necessary for many parts of the game. With EE or without, you still need to make tools to get the ores necessary for many items. Once you have them, then you can start making things from the mods. Once you have EE mining tools like the destruction catalyst, it is an easier way to mine. It's also an easier way to collect items while mining. Ores need to be mined to make things, and if you think EE hinders or impedes mining, you are insane. Second question, With EE, why have a farm? Well, having a farm is an easy to make and use resource of getting wheat for bread. Melons, pumpkins and sugarcane all have their uses, and are good sources of EMC. So for having a farm, you can and should still have one, because it is vital to grow crops for food or other things. You can also cross-breed using IC2, which makes farming all the more fun. With EE, you can make wheat, melons, etc., but it is easier and better to have an actual farm. Third question, With EE, why craft anything? Part of the Minecraft's title is Craft, and it is a vital part of the game. Without it, you wouldn't be able to do anything besides chop wood, or dig dirt with your fists. If you want a detailed explanation of how crafting works, you can check here. You use crafting to make all of the items in the game and the mods. With or without EE, crafting would still be necessary. Yes, you can teach vanilla blocks and tools and some mod items to the transmutation table after you craft them. With this, you can just gather enough EMC to make one. Again, not everything has an EMC value, and not everything is able to be obtained in a transmutation table. And again, crafting is important, so you can take that argument and shove it back into your arse. Fourth question, With EE, why gain levels? Alright then, I'll answer your question with another. With Tekkit, why gain levels? Tools and armors added by mods aren't enchantable. Once you have iron, you effectively move straight to gem tools. These can't be enchanted. When you reach diamonds, you should already have a chainsaw, or a mining drill, both of which can't be enchanted. Your question has no basis, as all tools and armors in Tekkit are not enchantable. Fifth question, With EE, why walk? Well when you start, you have to walk to get around. With IC2, you can fly around, but not like the flying that SWRG gives you. Once you have SWRG, it is still essential to walk around, as flying can often lead to mishaps with lava. Once you have nano, you are essentially invincible to all natural forces. Flying would just be an easier way of moving around, as it is faster than walking on foot, because you can fly over all the hilly terrain. Sure you might not like that SWRG gives creative like flying, but some people like to have the ability to fly and not die, as is the case with buggy jetpacks. The ring also sucks up EMC, so if you don't have a klein star, or coal, or any other type of fuel then you won't be able to use it. I have also noted that the OP seems pissy because they probably went on a PVP server and were killed by someone having some EE tools. They then went on to rage about it and tell you why it should be removed. He then tries to tell you that it infringes on other players, while in reality, forcing other people to not use EE infringes on other people's playstyles. He also calls everyone who disagrees with him an "excitable little kid," as that is probably what killed him on the aforementioned server. Getting rid of EE would not benefit anybody, as you can always remove it if you don't like to use it. Other people like to use the mod, and they have every right to.

Application: Age: 15 IGN: Major_Creepist Mods experienced in: Well, I am experienced in most mods, so I'll tell you the ones I'm not so experienced in. For starters, I know nothing about RP2 computers, or frames. I am a basic programmar for Computercraft, so don't expect me to be writing huge, awesome programs. Forcefield Mod, I know nothing about. There is my application, I know most everything about the mods, except for what is stated above.

The textures are on the website for 128x. I'm not going to link it to you, as I hope you aren't an idiot and can find them yourself.

Oh man, don't get me started on Zoo Tycoon and Roller Coaster Tycoon. I got both expansions for Zoo Tycoon, the water animals and the dinosaurs. I would usually just pluck out a few people from the crowd and toss them in with the lions and dinosaurs. They would chase after them and I enjoyed watching them die. I would pick out the most obnoxious people there, the ones that I thought weren't having a good time. I would say to them "How dare you not like my amazing park! You will make a nice treat." That game kept me entertained for quite a while. Roller Coaster Tycoon was great, I mimicked the best roller coaster from the park that I went to a few days before. It was too intense and nobody would want to ride it. Also, I always played the castle map, it was a pain deleting the walkways to make sure no one got onto the walk across the castle. Anyways I got really cool looking roller coasters going. Then I made one that derailed a few tiles before the entrance/exit. There were usually tons of people there, and I would mow them all down. It was really fun.

Man Pikmin and Pikmin 2 were both great. I also have the Legend of Zelda collectors edition, and now I'm playing OOT again. I forgot how fun the whole Zelda series was. Wind Waker was a unique one for me, I plan to play it after I finish OOT and Majora's Mask. I loved the cartoony style of it all, and although I never finished it, I'm damn well going to try again. OOT Majora's Mask and the Wind Waker were my whole childhood, besides kingdom hearts. All the memories and the times where I'd show my brother how far I had made it and how we would help each other out. We still do though, he's helping me get through OOT.

Slowpoke (Feed the Beast creator) on the Technic pack
Mooseman9 replied to killerx09's topic in The Whale Box
I just needed to post that somewhere and I thought it related to the discussion at hand, but I guess you are right, it does stray too much away from the subject. Also, Jaguar, I really enjoy Railcraft, and I hope you discuss more and get everything sorted out with your mod and the pack. -
Slowpoke (Feed the Beast creator) on the Technic pack
Mooseman9 replied to killerx09's topic in The Whale Box
I know that you can never make everyone happy, as there are always the people who will go out of their way to hate something for the sake of hating it. It's just the sheer idiocy of everyone calling out that Technic is illegal because it doesn't have permissions. I believe that half the people who do call the pack illegal are just jumping on a giant bandwagon that's growing smaller and smaller each day. Most of them probably even torrent things. Is that not an example of hypocrisy? I see where you are coming from, after I heard what happened with Forestry, I was inclined not to use the mod ever again. It is a great mod, and just because the creator is a -snip- doesn't mean that his work is the -snip- -
Slowpoke (Feed the Beast creator) on the Technic pack
Mooseman9 replied to killerx09's topic in The Whale Box
I would like to throw my two cents in to this discussion. I have known that the Technic team have been generally nice people all around ever since I've gotten the pack. I'm glad to see that they are now trying to work with developers for the benefit of the users, and the community itself. However, even if they acquire a full set of permissions from every developer, there will still be people who despise the Technic pack to its very core. These permissions would make most people more attracted towards the pack, and it would also make the devs more trusting, as CovertJaguar has stated. Most of the community would benefit from this, but there are still people who will hiss and spit at the very name of Technic. These people are also why the MCForums are full of flame wars about Technic. Now, I don't give two halves of a rat's ass what happens over there, for the moderation and overall feeling is unjustified and completely hostile. Most devs can be reasonable and will most likely hold a civilized discussion, as is the case here with CovertJaguar. However, with the good also comes the bad. Sir Sengir is a talented developer, but the way he went about things was just plain idiotic. I like to use forestry with Technic, as I feel that it is a good mod, but what happened between the pack and Forestry is exactly the kind of hostility that needs to end. People need to be civil about it, as SS could've asked instead of targeting the user. Flower_Child is perhaps the worst perpetrator of this hostility. He has blatantly gone out of his way to make his mod incompatible with everything, as was stated before, and with his mod came his forums. I don't know if any one of you have looked over there, but it is filled with hate against anything Technic, and hell, even Forge. The very name can get you banned, as is stated in the rules there. The people there have been so filled with hate for everything that isn't BTW. Take this gem for example. If you didn't bother to read it, (you should, it is really filled with prime examples of how a community should not act.) this is a direct quote straight from the post: Or another one for example: As you can see, even the mention of using any mod other than BTW is met with hostility towards them. You would directly betray them if you even thought about using another mod. This is the kind of hostility that I am talking about, the kind that needs to stop. I know that this post is straying away from the main discussion, but I feel that this needed to be brought to the attention of it, as it shows just how far a massive ego can get you. I am sorry Cheap Shot if this post is not what you wanted in the discussion. I just really needed to bring this up and post it somewhere, and I thought this discussion was the perfect place to put it. -
I'm sorry Miniboxer, I forgot in which board the Greylisted servers post said that you were supposed to go to. I was pretty sure it was Open Servers, but I guess I am wrong. I know I should have checked it again just to make sure I was giving him correct information, but my head was not thinking straight at the time. And for some of the threads that I post in, I give correct and accurate advice, so please don't think of me as "Hey look everybody! This guy's a Helen Keller! Just ignore what he says, because they're all stupid!" I really hate people with that attitude. I made two very stupid mistakes on this forum and was right on the edge of getting banned. I'm now trying to get back to not being an idiot and contributing. I know you laugh at the idiots that come on this forum and make shittastic posts, but I'm trying not to be those people. Again, I should've just double-checked, but oh well.
-
Yes, all Greylisted servers go in the Open Servers section. If you take it down then I think it would be open, but if you still have it in place where you have to apply to something before you actually do anything, then I think that is still greylisting.
