There is a folder inside your "world" folder (whatever it is named in your server.properties file) called "DIM-1". This is the Nether. I you simply stop the server and remove the entire "DIM-1" folder it will be regenerated when you restart the server.

Came here to say this. Most of the transport stuff (energy, liquid, items) from Thermal Expansion is superior to the BC stuff in nearly every way, especially in SMP.

Using MJ to power a sorting system.

Nope. Make a BC Autarchic Gate and all your problems are solved. Doesn't even take up more block space. -
Updating my Quarry. Where to begin?

You can use BC gates to monitor engines in order to control them better. The conversions you are looking for are Power Crystal's PowerConverters mod. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1629898-147-powercrystals-mods-mfr-23-powerconverters-netherores-and-more/#pc -
There are items that nearly always get banned because: 1) There are some things with which it is nearly impossible to prevent griefing. 2) There are some things that even with good intentions can inadvertently crash a server (Looking at you here CC) 3) There are some things which absolutely do not scale and even a few people using them can overload a server (Looking at you here MystCraft)

One can also take your playername.dat file, edit it and change the "Dimension" property to 0 (zero).

Updating my Quarry. Where to begin?
plowmanplow replied to blsmith2112's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
Here to put my vote on power conversion from IC2 (or stored BC in energy cells) and teleported to the quarry with Energy Tesseracts (you might want to change the Thermal Expansion server config to set the Tesseracts to 10% down from 25% because 25% loss is just ludicrous). Keep in mind that a quarry requires just north of 48 MJ/t (that's nearly 128 EU/t) to operate at full speed. -
Being a MC, Tekkit server owner, along with hosting traditional internet bases services for decades I can assure you that Allykay is probably busting a hump trying to get things back up and running. The frustration that breeds when "things don't go right" can be almost sickening and completely out of proportion to the importance of whichever service you are trying to reestablish. Patience. (And yes, I want to see it back up too. I'm this close to having my "everything" factory operation)

3 MFEs = 24 Refined Iron, 24 Rubber, 3 gold, 96 redstone, and 12 diamonds Yeah, if you lost the mats that went into those that would suck, but even in a roll-back everything including what you had should roll back too so if you had the materials you should just have to re-craft and that's not too painful.
-
I'm sure every effort will be made to maintain a stateful backup of the world and move it to the new host. However, the last crash will likely result in a short rollback and there isn't much that can be done about that (I believe it was mentioned that there may have been some ramdisk action going on so you only get the last backup, not the "current world" if it crashes hard). You may have to re-do a few things, but it should only be a few minutes as it seemed the server was backing up very frequently.

Just check out the Thermal Expansion Wiki. Pretty straight forward. (although the 25% energy tesseract loss is a bit steep in my opinion and setting it to 10% seems more balanced to me)

1) Iron pipes are used to set the direction of flow/items. They are not intended to be used for linear transportation. 2) If one must use BC pipes, using gold versions on linear runs is nearly always the better choice. 3) If one must use BC pipes, using Autarchic Gates will make your life so much easier. 4) Here's the kicker. In Tekkit Lite, it is nearly always a better choice to use liquiducts and tesseracts from Thermal Expansion rather than pipes. (This also actually applies to MJ power transmission as well by using redstone conduits) 5) You don't really "need" iron pipes underneath. The liquid will find a way out, especially if it is linear. You might use iron pipes where two "sets" join together, but that is it. However, all of the connection/loop issues go away if one uses liquiducts. Just my two cents. Good luck!

I should try messing with Logistics Pipes. I guess the appeal of the AE stuff was that if you have all the resources in your storage it can crank out a HV solar in a couple minutes :)

check your NetherOres.cfg file and make sure you don't have entries stating that MaxY and MinY are both 128. You'll get no ores if they are.

Look into Applied Energistics. You can automate everything with enough planning.

Hmm. I would go with a MineFactoryReloaded solution. For instance, you can put a system together with these components: Sewer Composter Fertilizer Planter Harvester And those 5 things will generate 100 rubber/minute with rubber tree saplings. The amount of planks you could get with regular trees would be staggering.

This is only my experience, but I don't know if RP2 was really designed to do anything but work with itself very well. Hell, the omni-wrench works on everything BUT RP2. Plus, you can run dozens of RP2 logic machines off of a few thermopiles or less than a dozen solar cells so it's not like you need much power for that.

Tekkit Lite 0.6.0. = No Nether Ores?
plowmanplow replied to Michael Slade's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
Setting up any server that is using someone else's mod pack is bound to be a moving target. It is something that you really only have to do once though. Upgrades are typically pretty straight forward. This particular problem was a trivial fix (simply remove the MinY lines in the config before starting and they'll be replaced with the correct values) that would be caught with a simple config diff. You are doing config diffs during an upgrade process, yes? You are going through every line of every config to see what they are doing before an initial server install, yes? If you answered "no" to either of those questions then one you are missing an important step in the process. I don't say this to demean your efforts in any way. Attention to the details of a server you want other people to enjoy is critical to its success. Half an hour reviewing configs of a new server or 10 minutes doing config diffs is a small price to pay for smooth operation down the road. -
Hello,
I would be interested in joining your server. I host a few servers of my own (from Tekkit Classic, to Lite, and Vanilla) for friends/family, but it is sometimes nice to both see what direction others go with it, and to sometimes not be the person at the admin wheel all the time, heh. If you want to see any of my servers before making a decision just let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Plowman

Was going to suggest just that. Make a custom pack. When you are deviating from the standard build and have to change something server side it can be a real pain to update all the clients. A custom pack makes it trivial. Plus, if you do a custom pack you can replace 0.6.1's CC with their latest version which includes wired modem traffic which is quite cool. On the side of a personal suggestion: Some of the mods which Tekkit Lite has that aren't included with Tekkit Classic add some remarkable improvements to mechanics without being overpowered. Thermal Expansion adds conduits and liquiducts which are more expensive but better than BC pipes in nearly every way. Factorization adds almost nothing you can't do better with other mods (so would get almost no use by practical players), but its Wrath Lamp is something that vanilla MC and all mod packs should have had years ago. And Applied Energistics? Wow, mind blowing. As for MystCraft, I'm assuming you put the 0.10.x+ version in your server and not the older one? If you put in the older version then you may struggle with using your ages on the new one. The whole system changed so much that the move can mess some things up (I know a lot of my Descriptive Books got wonky). Of course, if you do a custom pack there is nothing preventing you from just using the old version. The new version, which is still very much a work in progress, hasn't "added" anything yes, just massively changed how everything is written. Just my two cents. Good luck!
