Please clue me in as to what I'm doing wrong
weirleader replied to Grantypoo's topic in Tekkit Discussion
ah, right -- forgot about the insertion pipe since I've still not gotten around to using them (and now that I'm using AE they've not been necessary). -

Yep, Applied Energistics (http://wiki.technicpack.net/Applied_Energistics) is a great way to go, though resource-intensive to start out. The only way I know of to currently handle item overflow is to have a loop in your pipe so items that can't drop into the Pulverizer go around and make another pass. Using an Iron Pipe let's it be a one-way loop. But that's not a great solution for huge quantities (like from a Quarry). If you decide to go the AE route, these video tutorials are very useful (although they're not Tekkit-specific). -
if it's running, even upside down, I think you must've installed it right. did you try running it in full-screen mode? That seemed to help some people.
-
just to be clear, what versions do you now have installed? You might try the various fixes mentioned here (apparently they had to roll back the 'fix').
-
heh, yeah, I'd heard that the railgun generates a lot of heat. Good job, Prototype, on figuring out the shift-click; I've gotten so used to it that I forgot it wasn't obvious on first use.
-
yeah, living with it makes the most sense to me. I never have tried a minium stone in a crafting recipe -- guess you just volunteered yourself to be the guinea pig!
-
or, if you really want to, you could set up level emitters to dump excess ingots into Deep Storage when they go over 2000. :-) That's a bit insane, but you'll have your perfect monitors!
-
I think it's a coincidence -- cannons sound like they have separate troubles. But the power suit should work. I'm thinking Prototype might have the answer... did you charge your batteries?
-
Are you saying, for example, that you don't want 2005 Iron Ingots? I know if you have your level emitter sent to drop in single items you'll get closer to that specific amount, but I don't know of any way around that slight slightly fuzzy moving target effect. The way AE works, it's not like they take up a lot of extra space... but maybe you're just detail-oriented? I've used level emitters to keep a certain level of Glass or Quartz Dusts in my system, but I just ignore that the numbers aren't 'perfect'.
-
did you post the screenshots? I know your conduits work, but I'm still suspecting something minor that's affecting the setup. And, out of curiosity, do you have an ME Crafting Monitor on your system? It'd be interesting to see if it somehow thought there were more items requested (e.g., you have it craft 1 but the monitor shows 10). you're not using any level emitters and Export Buses for the Cell Frames, are you? (I know you said Interface, but just trying to think of what could be causing this; an Export Bus set to export a stack instead of a single item has definitely tripped me up before) and, of course, it might just be a glitch/bug Hey Prototype, the subnetwork is a workaround for exact production of items. If I were to use a Storage Bus in my main network, it would keep the Magma Crucible full of Redstone at all times and I'd never be able to put in any Glowstone or Ender Pearls. So then you have a setup like Dewfire, where he has dedicated a Magma Crucible to Redstone. It's not bad, because by the time an ME Network is up and running you'll usually have plenty of resources to build multiple processing machines. Another option people go for (which I used before subnetworks) is to have an ME Interface drop recipe items into a chest, then pump them into a pipe network for distribution (because, for example, Energy Conduit requires materials to be dropped into two different machines and the current setup doesn't allow for this specifically). A subnetwork is just an ME Network with differently-colored ME Cable so it won't connect to an existing ME Network. In later versions of Applied Energistics, there are ways to share power between the two networks and ways to more elegantly set up ME Interface connections; but at the moment I just send recipe ingredients via Tesseract and then rather than Import/Export, the trick is to just 'Store' items into machines. So they get dropped in and processed... then pulled back into the main network via an ME Import Bus as complete products.

I need some help setting up a Tekkit server on my computer
weirleader replied to Warpflare's topic in Tekkit Discussion
does it tell you any more info about the ID mismatch (like which ID it's for)? -
I'll see if I can find somebody with Mac experience who might be able to figure this out.
-
How did you discover the lasers were consuming power? Were you just doing some random checking? Or did something tip you off? I'm always interested in the ways people are monitoring their systems.
-
are you using any kind of plugins? maybe something that adjusts permissions?
-
did you ever solve the issue? I now used up two rockets and it's still not there...
-
So... I created a space station and managed to return to the Overworld. On my next trip up to expand it, I quickly checked my Backpack to make sure I had some resources and the right-click for the backpack popped me out of the rocket. Oh well, I built another and went back to space, but...! When I get to the space station, the rocket doesn't appear -- it's just gone. Am I possibly forgetting an important step? I only went to space once before so I don't remember how it looked when I arrived, but I think the rocket was just sitting there waiting for me. I did establish a Dimensional Door there, so i can get to the space station; I just don't like that I've now lost three rockets and can't figure out why (plus, a rocket to the space station is so much more fun than a quick dimensional door!).

huh, didn't realize you could filter NEI by mod -- thanks!
-
let me get this straight -- you got malware somehow during the install process, and that means the site is 'riddled with malware'? Maybe I speak a different language than you, but 'riddled' implies a great quantity and I didn't get the impression you'd tried this on numerous occasions with numerous computers. We have a solid community here and an active message board; if there were truly a problem, many of us would be experiencing the same issue. So call it what it is... you had a bad experience. And we're not even sure why.
-
great -- thanks for clearing that up. Now, for future reference, how would I figure that out (if I come across other similar situations)? Do you just have to check out config files to see what item IDs have been used?
-
oh, right! I read about them but haven't seen them before!

Tekkit server / client / mod version mismatch!
weirleader replied to ben ogg's topic in Tekkit Discussion
well I agree that it's all a mystery to me, but that's why I stick to supported packs, like Tekkit. I don't have the energy or inclination to try to customize things. If you haven't seen this, you might want to give it a look. -
I love your use of conveyors! Do you have some sort of Demon pigs or something, because some look different than what I've seen.
-
Now that I finally have some time to contribute to the Wiki again, I noticed that I have two items listed in NEI as "Insertion Transport Pipe" (IDs 5807, and 8888), and two listed as "Redstone Transport Pipe" (IDs 5811 and 8889). The recipes are somewhat different and they are certainly not interchangeable in recipes. What's the story? I'm gathering that the 8888/8889 items are possibly vestigial, but would like to be sure before adding entries into the Wiki. Thanks!

Tekkit server / client / mod version mismatch!
weirleader replied to ben ogg's topic in Tekkit Discussion
are you hosting a server on your own machine? When you run the technic launcher, it will install the client files; but to run a server, you need to extract the files from here. You run it by running launch.bat (on Windows systems). this, quite frankly, makes me wonder if you're even running the TechnicLauncher; because the current recommended build of the launcher is 1.06 (which IS based on MC 1.5.2, but isn't usually described in that manner). so are you attempting to add the 'industrial mod' into the Tekkit pack? or are you just copy/paste-ing into your mod folder? -
okay, here's my best shot at this -- if it works, it's totally thanks to CanVox and Google (see: http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/hexxit-quits-itself-after-installation.49323/) if it's the same situation, you can't run Java 7 on a Mac with the default LWJGL -- you need to either downgrade to Java 6 OR manually upgrade your install's LWJGL to 2.9 (can't give you any direction there, as I know less than nothing about Macs). If that does solve your problem, you should definitely post back so others can benefit from it. And if not, perhaps CanVox can bust out some more awesome tech help.
