I can't help you with your launcher problems, but I can answer your other questions. The space-ship-Tekkit's official name is: Tekkit If that is confusing (but... but... tekkit classic used to be called just tekkit too!) call it Tekkit Main because that is what the folders in the launcher files are called. Yes, you are pretty much the only one that is upset. They did not sacrifice RP2 and IC2 for potatoes and carrots because all four of those things are in Tekkit Lite. You can have all five if you manually add a 1.4.7 version of Galacticraft to Lite. If you would rather do without Vanilla and Mod bugfixes and features that have been implemented since 1.4, go play Tekkit Lite. Why wouldn't you just run the launcher normally? You are probably the only person to ever try and run it with the command line thingie.

Oh. Cool, thanks. Huh, Rei's is being left behind. Psh. Imagine actually having to be there to leave a waypoint. XD What is the best level for strip mining? I prefer that to caving sometimes.
-
WARNING: Don't log out in your ship. It probably won't be there when you come back. BUGZZZZ!
-
Ok.... I guess my problem is that I don't get it. Can it do waypoints? I'll look it up. Edit: No, it can't, but still very very cool! I had no idea you could zoom out and see everywhere you have been... I think it suits the pack very well actually. It just didn't seem as polished as Rei's. Also: In-game CartographerG! Awesome!

Yes, I am absolutely confident that it is safe. After all, that is a link to a forum page where real people say it is unsafe, but luckily there are bots there to tell us that it is safe.
-
Umm yes. Very observant. It has blocks, just like Minecraft, but it's a whole new game.
-
Xp leeching? Meteor armor? O_O I have been hearing random explosions. (Not TNT) What is it? Also, where is Rei's Minimap? I like that one better.

I think the sticking arrows was vanilla a long time ago, but then was taken out and re-implemented by the mod. Then Mojang recently added it back in to vanilla.
-
Still need those configs.... anybody know where I can get them?
-
Really? Slackers. At least there seems to be progress now.

In my opinion Mojang is doing a great job. They have been adding various bits and pieces from different mods to keep vanilla purists happy while behind the scenes they fix bugs and slowly but surely rewrite and/or revise the entire source code to allow for the modding API. I don't think people give them enough credit (some people none) for all the work they have done since 1.2 to make the API possible. Sure, they could release the API now, but when they try and improve things in the next update the API will inevitably break. That's not an API. An API is something that, for example, lets a program compiled on win xp run on my windows 7 computer. That is why forge is not an API. An API would let us run a mod from 1.3 on 1.1 and a mod compiled with 1.0 run on 13w24c. The best forge can do is let us use 1.5.1 mods with 1.5.2 and vice versa. TL;DR Mojang has been working harder on the mod API than it may seem and they have good reason to postpone its release. *Note that I am not a modder, I am a java noob, I am tired as I write this, I am not a Mojang insider, and this statement is based solely on what I have heard/understand and may or may not 100% guaranteed accurate.

Oh. Huh. Just realized how much time was between the first post and the one before mine. Anyway, yeah, went on a public server. First I logged out in my ship and it was deleted, (a common problem) and then the map reset, I started building a ship, and some guy came over and blew it up. I had the idea that maybe any bullets/lasers/missiles should be deleted if they move within a certain radius of the spawn shop or any players/ships nearby. That might help.

I love this game. I didn't know you could pay for it but even in its current state it's worth 3 bucks. I would prefer that the devs (at least for now) followed minecraft's gui more closely, the current one doesn't really suit the low def textures of the rest of the game. Are there any public servers or anything? Generally I prefer to play alone but even Space Pirates are scarce....
-
They don't have spoilers! I learned that the hard way. =P

Sticky mobs? Oh boy. I've played some more, and have come across a few things. Brown bears are cool. Ice caves are cool. Chocobos sound cool. Tinkers construct is really cool. The giant ancient cobble statue complete with 30 block tall cobblestone staff is very cool. I want the iron and lapis blocks that top the staff, but I'm scared he statue is going to spawn a hoard of zombies or reanimate into a giant or something.... I'm paranoid now. I must say Hexxit isn't really my cup of tea, I prefer Tekkit or maybe StarMade, but so far I've been having a lot of fun.
-
When I say major dungeon I mean one of those ruins with skelly spawners in the basement. XD
-
Ok, cool, good tip. I would do more exploring if I wasn't so underequipped to take on the hoards of mobs in the crazy structures! Personally I'd want to obtain a diamond sword and a suit of iron armor before I took on any major dungeons.
-
While I was waiting for my iron to smelt so I could mine the diamond I found by accident I fell into the pit of ghost and was killed by some dude. Hexxit is definitely a very hostile place.
-
Trying Hexxit...... 1. Diamond ore at Y=70. Is this intended? Was something mixed up with Big Dig or something? XD 2. GHOSTS! Are there supposed to be underground villages? I have no clue what this is. I'm gonna go explore some more now..... what crazy stuff from new mods have you guys found? Edit: Aparently they are hostile. X(

Yep, it works, because when I hit a vanilla tree with a vanilla log it exploded like its supposed to.
-
There stll isn't taumcraft!!!!!111!!!!111one Umm, anyway, yes, I agree. Looks cool and I can't wait to try it.
-
Well, I suppose that's a good point about IC2. I guess I'll just have to hope for IC3 XD I tried to add the custom axes, but it just plain didn't work. For example I added the Railcraft Steel axe to the config, loaded up creative mode, hit the bottom log of a vanilla tree- nuthin. I must be doing it wrong.
-
Yes, I know. Like I said I keep up to date, but my cousin for example does not. I prefer Thermal expansion, but he still plays Tekkit Classic. Besides, while the IC2 project is definitely dying and really has no future, I kind like it. <[withheld]> Where is the Quantum armor? <dwwojcik> Umm.... IC2 isn't even in the pack. No public release since 1.4..... <dwwojcik> We use Thermal Expansion now. Where have you been? <[withheld]> Oh boy.
-
Hmm. I've never had that particular issue myself, but maybe you could try changing the settings on the archiving program? Higher quality zips, that kind of stuff. I think there are some tips in this thread: http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/luke%E2%80%99s-hopefully-comprehensive-modpack-making-guide.44197/

Genius.
