  1. In response to Arden. Nether Portals act that way. When entering the nether the game looks for an existing portal with in 128 blocks. If one already exists it sends you there rather than making a new one. However when leaving the nether the game looks for an existing portal within 1028 blocks on the over-world.That means if there are other portals with a 1028 square blocks it can send you to the wrong place. I would destroy all other over-world portals within 1028 square blocks. Perhaps even further out because if it connected you to a already existing portal in the nether, it already moved you some. If it has and you don't want that, I would break the in nether ortal and then kill myself. Then when you enter again from the over-world, since no in nether portal exists it will create another in the location that is tied to your over-world portal location, instead of moving you some. When there are no other portals enter your portal and exit again and they should connect properly. After that if you build another in nether portal within 128 of the first it should send you to your over-world portal. More than that 128 in nether blocks and you will always end up somewhere different. I hope that helps. There is really good help on the functions of nether portals on the vanilla minecraft wiki.
  2. It seems like the issue of mobs dieing from crowding is a newer problem. In games past I could cram like 100 mobs together in the same spot so they were over-lapping, but I have not been able to recently. It seems like now mobs now bounce off each other rather than getting smushed into the same spot like they used to.. It has definitely hurt the efficiency of my mob grinders.
  3. The best way I have found to get mob essences is to use a XP extractor and a bucket. I simply drain my exp into tanks whenever I have some. I also find that killing a few spiders from a auto spawn-er and then using an XP extractor yields far more mob essence than it consumes.
  4. When I started the new tekkit I had the same problem with red-stone engines. I was going to just have a ton of them under my lab hooked up to pipes, but red-stone engines can no longer power pipes. After that I did switch to steam engines and now I have a pretty sustainable set up now. I use and MFR harvester sapling farm. I have several vanilla furnaces and insertion pipes set up to automatically cook wood blocks over wood blocks from the harvester and then from there I just pipe the charcoal passed my steam-engines continuously in a loop. Very little upkeep. I only use bio-fuel when I am running quarries.
  5. I notice that this is not where bug reports go, but I seem to not to be able to ask about my problem there, insufficient authority. None of the posts there that I saw refer to this issue. It seems that it takes too long to chop wood with an iron axe. It is taking about 10 seconds a block. I know it was not that slow before. I think this is a change since I switched to 1.1.8 I can confirm that it still only takes about one second to break a wood block with an iron axe in vanilla mine-craft so I think this may be a bug.
  6. I have been looking for a large liquid storage solution that is better than a cluster of buildcraft tanks. I love this design. Thank you for the idea Montego!
  7. More Pistons mod could be helpful to those that like to build machines with red-stone and pistons. ( I'm not the only one, I swear.) Also the gravity piston from that mod allows blocks to be transported without changing them to their item form. Can also transport mobs/players. I also feel the mod-pack could some kind of large liquid tank to compliment the small buildcraft ones. Something like Xycraft. Bibliocraft, with its great ability to display items could compliment the trade booth in helping people set up a store or market type build. Factorization has some elements that would be redundant but at least both the barrel and packager could allow some new ways for people to do things. Just some thoughts...
  8. I see. You should defiantly be careful since you are running a custom mod-pack. My response did not consider that possibility as this is the Tekkit forum and unless otherwise noted people assume that questions here are about the Tekkit pack, not custom ones. I have some slight awareness of how this mod-pack is progressing, stuff like which bugs exist in which version, but when you get into custom modding you get to a place where I simply have too little knowledge to offer anything solidly helpful. I did hear somebody say that they had to delete Mystcraft to get mo creatures working in the latest version of Tekkit. Not certain about that. Def seems like a poor trade to me though.
  9. I would not want to make a suit of armor that breaks the game like that. I thought modular power-suits was supposed to be less OP than quantum armor. So it takes tons of diamonds to make power armor as strong as iron armor, making it useless in the early game, and once you have lots of diamonds it makes you a god... hmm, your not making me like this mod any better. To me OP mods defeat the purpose of playing.
  10. More generators is something I can agree too. I think for the sake of compatibility and stability you can't have every mod in a pack, you have to make choices between them. Mo creatures just does not fit with the technology/automation theme of tekkit. In the past I have suggested XYcraft as a good addition. I would also like tinkerers construct but they have the world gen balanced so beautifully now I can appreciate why they would not want to add more. I consider it a big improvement over old tekkit where there was almost as much ore and minerals as stone. Almost. What is really missing from the new tekkit? IMHO one important thing. The Coal block from 1.6. I have so much coal. :(
  11. I am not a fan of this mod. Does anyone else feel this way? Or are you a big fan for a reason I am not considering? Everything is so expensive to instal in the suit. I built a set and it sits in a chest in my lab because I am afraid to lose the dozens of diamonds it took to make a decent suit of armor that is not weaker than plain vanilla iron armor. Perhaps I am missing something? If only the upgrades installed into the power-suit tinker table instead of into the suit itself. That way if you die you would not potentially lose tons of diamond and only have to make the suit itself again. As of now I can't imagine I will ever use the suit much, unless somehow I end up with a stock pile of diamonds or I just decide to start spawning stuff in.
  12. They are only bugged in the recommended build. I had the exact same problem recently. When I switched to the latest build they worked just fine. Actually tekkit as a whole has run much better for me since then. You can change to the latest build on the launcher screen, just back up your world.
  13. I would recommend you dive into the new tekkit by first watching you-tube mod spotlights for some of the major mods. I would recommend watching spotlights for Buildcraft, Thermal Expansion, and Mine Factory Reloaded. In that order. I know direwolf20 has some very good you-tube mod spotlights for Mine Factory Reloaded and Thermal Expansion, not sure about Build-craft.
  14. You can do it vanilla just not in the space of one block. D R-> D D <-R D T D = redstone dust R = repeater, ->, <- = directional indicators for repeaters. T = the spot where you put down a redstone torch for only one split second. You can change the length of the timer by adjusting the settings on the repeaters or by expanding the design.
  15. Well challenges is a better word. I still think its best to worry about your own gaming experience. I never spawned anything for years when I first started playing minecraft. Then something happened, I got less interested in video games. I spend less time playing them and I get bored sooner if something is too difficult or too grindy. Should I not play them at all if I don't want to play as a person seeking the greatest challenge? So now if I fall down my own quarry I may very well go into creative and fly down and get my stuff. SO what? How does that effect your enjoyment? It does not. Lets say for example I cheat myself a stack of diamonds, I would never, but lets just say. If you are not going to cheat by coming into my house and taking my diamonds how would it even affect your game-play? It would not, but it may very well make minecraft into an enjoyable experience for somebody who is simply not going to spend the time mining. If I build a fortress in survival and my friend across the way builds a much better fortress in creative, why should I care? I enjoy survival building while the other person may not. I'm being petty if I care about that. I find cheating to be an inapplicable word to a game with no clear goals other than to have fun.
  16. Are those gates in your design? Not sure what purpose they serve in that spot. DO you still have the same problem if you try waterproof emerald pipes with no gates?
  17. I'm not sure the suggestions here would make a game better at all. Minecraft is as much a toy as a game. There is no wrong way to play with a toy so long as you have fun. Little Jonny has a toy truck. It is his favorite. He plays with it all the time by pretending it is a rocket-ship. DO you A; let him have fun? B; smack him in the hand and tell him its a truck not a rocket ship?
  18. I have been able to craft them. It is not a bug but an update of the mystcraft version. You now need to create an inkwell. The inkwell makes linking panels as well as allowing the special books that you used to have to have a link modifier to make. Then you just combine a linking panel with a piece of leather to make an unbound linking book. Hold an unbound linking book in your hand and right click to make a linking book for the place you are standing.
  19. Wow, thanks for the clear and detailed breakdown. I think I can manage that now. Can I just mine for uranium in a new mystcraft age once I do that or must I start a new game?
  20. UUUUhhhhh...... SO if I wait a few months or a couple versions Uranium will be made part of the standard config???
  21. Changing the config files is a bit too technical for me. If I wait will it eventually spawn in new chunks when they update the pack?
  22. I have not been able to find any uranium in my single player game. I am playing the latest build now but I did generate the world using the recommended build. Is uranium new? Can I find it by going to new chunks?
  23. That depends what you mean be efficient. My way may take up more space but it would take far fewer materials to create and less expertise than a rednet controller.
  24. I have mostly played minecraft without mods so here is how I would do it. I would set up a circuit of red-stone repeaters in a way that it takes 2 minutes and 30 seconds for a signal to come back around. Just put a red-stone torch down for a half a seconded to put a pulse into the red-stone loop. At the start of the circuit branch it off to activate a T-flipflop. Then at the point that the signal reaches after 30 seconds I would have it split again and deactivate the T-flip-flop so it is turned off again. 2:00 minutes later when the signal finishes the repeater loop it will turn the signal back on.
  25. Now that seems to be the case.. I swear I was having a problem before. Well thanks for the input. I will certainly assist the wiki now.
