It isn't compatible with ModLoader either.

You can add it back, but I'm not sure how well it works. As for mods that replace the functionality lost without IC2, take a look at this.

You can update MFFS on your own, yes, but only up to the latest version of 1.4.7 (lite) or 1.2.5 (classic). IC2 isn't included because it's pretty much a dead mod at this point (i.e. has been dead for a while now) and the team had the opportunity to remove it. So they did.

Classic/Lite aren't updated anymore and the newer packs don't contain IndustrialCraft 2.

Why do you need an AFK machine for Tekkit? The only reason that comes to mind is keeping chunks loaded for machines, but wouldn't it be easier just to use a chunk loading block?

There are still lots of classic/lite servers. As for getting used to IndustrialCraft, it's not hard to transition from it to other mods. Many of the basic principles are the same, you just have to know what to use instead of what.

IndustrialCraft was removed because it was a dying/dead mod and the team had an opportunity to remove it. Besides, pretty much everything useful in IC2 is done by another thing in Tekkit, so it really was getting redundant.

Well, yes, but I'm referring to the "current" packs (The ones that would have IC2 being Tekkit Main and Big Dig).

It's been a while since I've seen one of these guys pop up. I do have to question what anti-technic malicious code would even do in IC2, since it's not in the packs anymore.

Yeah, that's not the right thing. At all. The file you download should just be the launcher. There's no installer, no setup, no sponsored downloads, etc. You're sure you downloaded it from the right place? You should have downloaded it from this page, from one of the buttons that look like this:

There's no installer, you just download the launcher and run it. Perhaps you accidentally downloaded something else?
