The latest launcher build is 383, can you please double-check you have the latest. Your java is outdated, the latest version is java 7 upgrade 51. Uninstall the old one and download the latest. Avira has been reported to block the launcher in the past, but an update should've fixed that. Make sure your avira is up-to date. Try to download a pack from Platform, after that fails post the error log - which can be found on the top right corner Cog-wheel button on the launcher window. JBird you seem content to use Norton and know how to use it, this is the first time I hear Norton would be okay with techniclauncher. I heard somewhere else that Mojang had problems with authentication servers, purely speculation but I would recommend trying the launcher again or wait a few hours/ one day. If the problem persists I'd still point at Norton as the issue.

i7 processor, 500 or 1tera of harddrive with 8gig of RAM coupled with the best graphics card money can buy is all you need for a good gaming tower. RAM is overpriced nowadays and 16gig is a bit overkill even with the highest-demand graphical games out there. And personal opinion: SSD is useless. 1 harddrive is enough I ordered a custom pre-built tower which only cost me 1800+$.

From the very second a user logs in to the launcher a log is created, that log will continue to produce almost unreadable gibberish 'til the point the launcher stops working. How much RAM could you allocate to your launcher, 256MB or 1gig? And how much RAM do you have in your PC?

Something to do with Bookcases from bibliocraft. You need to get MCEdit and move your character further away from them, if that fails then you need to delete any and all bibliocraft bookcases in your characters vicinity. Also your java is using your outdated version Uninstall it, it will revert to the newest you downloaded

I don't know what else to say, maybe restart your PC? You are the second person who comes with the same error - an error without an actual error on the error log - so I don't know what causes this...
