I'll never understand why people are so desperate to get machines in an adventure/exploration-type of modpack. Old habit? Or is everyone sitting ducks inside their forts and too lazy to go out? I half agree with one user pointing on Mount & Blade, the game had a huge flaw; Cavalry. If the player has a strong, experienced heavy cavalry they will win 90% of all battles. Depending on the battle field, naturally. Good thing that modding communities grow around these games and fix these kinds of issues. Only 2 games I regret are Dead Island and War of Roses. The latter purely because I only have a laptop, but my mind might change when I get a proper tower.

I thought this guy confused modpack and mod, but it seems that crafting dead is actually a single mod. That's really weird, why put a single mod in platform? Why didn't he just highlight it on modders metro like everyone else? I mean, if all he wanted was to be under Technic's protective wing?

What does the actual error window say? Java 6? Uninstall that and get the new java 7 upgrade 51 Uninstall Norton and get a better AV, like MSE or Avast! This is not a launcher version, I think you confused this with Minecraft version. On technicpack.net you go to the tab download and you should see the launcher build 383 download button, that's the correct, and current, version!

If you believe there is something fishy about the launcher then please take a look through the code, the launcher is completely open-source and has been like that since it was made. If there were any users who had gotten their accounts hacked, don't you think there would be reports of that now? This site has been around for 2 years, almost.

Asymons hasn't been onlince since december 12, 2012. If you need help with a launcher problem it would be much smoother to create your own bug thread, this one is dead. Please post the full error log if you do, Asymons is very cryptic by only posting 3 lines, which isn't very helpful...

This is not a computer problem, the problem seems to be a internet port that Technic wants to use is already being used by something else. Are you absolutly sure you don't have any other kinds of program running in the background that requires constant internet connection? Maybe Steam? Or uTorrent? Or iTunes? The error I quoted earlier is a unique one, after googling it I found that the "Windows Sockets" refers to an internet port. So buying a new computer would be pointless Could I also bother to ask you which of my other post-fixes to other users you have tried, so that I wont bother repeating the same thing you already tried?

Allow me to make an analogy for you: A car owner drives to a workshop and asks anyone available if they can fix his car, a volunteer nods "I'll give it a shot", then another car owner, Nathan8824, rams the other car out of the workshop and yells "I have the same problem, fix mine first!". The moment the launcher is launched a log is created. Start the launcher by right-clicking and choose "run as admin", if the launcher still shows offline then click the cog button on the top right corner of the window and get the log created that day; post it between quote tags or paste on pastebin and give us a link. It's best if we can get proper logs to read and see if everyone has the same problem or if some users error can be solved.

Also please remember that you have AVG installed, when you receive any further problems it will stem from that horrible antivirus I recommend you uninstall it and get Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast!
