WorldEdit also, I'm pretty sure.

I'd wager a lot of money that they will, at some point in the future. The manipulation code is already there, and it's not that much more difficult to rotate an entity than it is to translate one. The only issue is if Eloraam wants frames to be able to do that.

Does Tekkit Have Permission from Every Modder to Use Their Mod?
jakj replied to Khaptaw's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
And for the terminally stupid, even though a "mod" is installed in the mods folder (usually) instead of actually in the .jar, that is still modifying the game, because guess what! All Modloader does is load it into the .jar in memory at runtime instead of physically ahead of time. The only non-modification modding is externals like MCEdit. Good gods, I'm getting tired of having to explain this. -
A lurker by definition is a nonentity.

Two new companies? What? I haven't looked.

Anybody put any thought into the fact that they're charging $20 USD for a laggy unmoddable beta 1.6 build? Wanna tell me what that says for how much they care about their players? Mojang has sure come a long way from the random Swede with a vision begging for support in alpha. I respected him, back then. Indies should make money like studios, sure, but not by acting as sleazy as them.

No, just use ender chests if your clever programming idea is just a different implementation of deferral. I'm all for different ways of doing things, but you won't find anyone willing to spend the time programming that with ender chests already done.

Some games are far superior on controller v. keyboard/mouse, primarily racing/flying games. The ideal control method would actually be mouse primary-hand, analog stick off-hand, for those games not requiring significant hotkeys. Otherwise, yes.
-
It's not? Aww. A lot of it can be done with frames, though, and with a little expansion, I bet frames could do all of that, since frames already act as entities.

Does Tekkit Have Permission from Every Modder to Use Their Mod?
jakj replied to Khaptaw's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Oh god, not this shit again. Come on, people. Minecraft ToS prohibits modding. Most modders' copyright claims are bullshit due to derivation, lack of fair use, and ToS violation. 97.486% of all Minecraft modding is not actually legal. LET IT DIE STOP TALKING ABOUT IT OH GOD WHY -
The source code of the launcher makes it 100% impossible to install to a folder that isn't named ".techniclauncher" somewhere on your hard drive, probably hidden by default so a normal search wouldn't find it. So, no matter if you don't want me to say it, I'm going to say it: Either it's not installed, or you need to learn how to search your hard drive.

Not possible without rewriting a third of Minecraft itself. Maybe in 1.3, because SMP can do this while SSP cannot.

The best leaf-decay algorithm would use refcounting, but that's way beyond Notch's skill level, so the next step down would be a very simple loop: For a leaf block at i,j,k, iterate over all blocks in the area i-4,j-4,k-4 and i+4,j+4,k+4, adding up the total number of log blocks and leaf blocks. Any time a log block is found, abort the loop, mark the leaf block clean, and exit the loop. Now, choose a random number, and based on that random number and the number of leaf blocks remaining, decide whether or not to decay the leaf. Boom. Done.

1) Client, not server. 2) Hundreds, not thousands. 3) I have the 3.4 GHz version of that processor. :D

The xbox 1) doesn't use java, and 2) has checksums coming out of its ass, so good fucking luck trying to mod that thing. Not to mention it's an old old oooold build, so you'd have to rewrite every damn mod for the old version in a new language and somehow get it to run past Microsoft's security. I mean, hell. You can't even mod Skyrim on console, and that game has OFFICIAL mod support, with a fucking Workshop. Dude. Give it up and go eat a ham sandwich before we all herniate.

My Mod Pack (Let me ask for permission from modders then try to sell it!)
jakj replied to punker180's topic in The Whale Box
Ah, this old chestnut. Kind of like the snarky-nasty-stuckup line about modpacks on the Thaumcraft thread. -
I haven't completely given up, really. I've just taken a rather long break from it, and I'm just not releasing anything I'm doing. (No, I'm not doing anything amazing, so don't think you're missing out. It's just tiny tweaks.) I am considering doing something when 1.3 comes out, though. I am slowly working my way around the psychological cul-de-sac toward a heading of "I like what I like, and it doesn't matter if nobody else does; It's still cool to me", which is a much more pleasant road to drive.

Does not compute.
-
Haha, good one. Two points! Oh, wait...you were serious. Crap. No. Also, fuck no.
-
Why do you think there are so few texture packs with even minor mod support? For the reasons you just stated. The majority of efforts are abandoned.
-
Please, if you haven't even figured out that much by now, do us all (and yourself) a favor and don't bother. You don't have a mind that's expansive or observant enough to make artistic decisions.

This thread just hilights even more how awful and draconic the situation with Diablo III is. Since I got it for free, decided to play a little tonight...singleplayer...so when I get through the queue to log into singleplayer, it's as laggy as a 5 tps Minecraft server...and disconnects me...and then I start rubberbanding every 3-5 seconds... The only DRM -that- bad is Minecraft's, and even Minecraft's DRM locks you out of multiplayer only. I want to go back to the world of Erus's list, where companies couldn't just fuck over their customers and still do fine. :-(
-
The usefulness of threads like this is severely limited by how much of the Technic Pack is added post-worldgen. Sharing seeds will get you the geography of a world and most of its buried ores, but pretty much nothing else.

Diablo III? You mean that new DRM'd game published by Ubisoft Blizzard?
