  1. Sounds like somebody stupid was using ModifyWorld and screwed it up, and blames the program for their problems, and is now spreading that misinformation.
  2. Well, yes, the new garbage collector is designed for high-utilization server software, if you read the rest of that page. It just so happens that Minecraft is written so wretchedly that it behaves in some ways like high-utilization server software, even in client usage.

    Torch shot

It's more like Notch dropping an apple. Except not lame.
  4. Remember to use the ID for an oil source block, not a flowing block.
  5. Introduced in Java 7u4: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/vm/G1.html Specifically: I have a feeling that, despite their 6GiB threshold, this will still be useful for those people who get lag spikes when allocating larger amounts (like 2-4 GiB) to Minecraft. Might be good to try out.
  6. Oh, that's amazing. I had imagined you would tint the whitish bits, not the transparent bits, and that looks a hundred times better. Good job.
  7. Watch the Yogscast video of the xbox version. You can actually see the lag as light slowly propagates when they put down a torch.
  8. It does not.
  9. Fatal error: speculate(): maximum recursion depth reached
  10. Don't bullshit about "trust" with a whitelist. The only real purpose for one is population control. That, or because you like making people jump through hoops for fun.
  11. Because a stripped-down half-old half-new console hack running at 30 fps is an indication of PC support and performance.
  12. People don't read stickies. They are a placebo for the rest of us to imagine as a lessening of the impact of the waves of stupid.
  13. What is up with you making a worthless thread about a development cycle you don't understand? Go back to the recommended build and shut up.
  14. I recommend creating coloured sand blocks that you can tgen smelt to glass. Being able to build with colored sand would also be nice.

    I need help!

In order to be "completely" safe, you need to make sure to never check the box on the launcher that saves your password, because it is ridiculously easy to steal and use with no trouble at all. (That's after you change your password to a better one with lots of letters and numbers.)
  16. A mother and father were at wit's end over their two sons, the pessimist and the optimist. One Christmas, they decided to try and bring them both to reality. For the pessimist, they bought him everything he ever wanted: Toys, pets, clothes, books, and gifts galore. The pessmist was surrounded by a pile of all the things in life he'd ever wanted, and yet he sat, dejected and forlorn. "Why?", asked the mother and father. The pessimist replied, "Why should I bother to enjoy any of this? I must be dreaming, and will wake up to all of it gone, so I won't waste my time." The mother and father threw their hands up in frustration, and walked off. For the optimist, they bought a small wooden shed, and filled it from one side to the other with nothing but a giant pile of manure, at least eight feet high. The mother and father came to the shed to find the optimist energetically digging at the pile of manure, a giant grin on his face, eyes sparkling with delight. "Why?", asked the mother and father. The optimist replied, "With a pile of manure this huge, there just has to be a pony in here somewhere!"
  17. Haven't you read 1984? That book is rather accurate, the only difference being that we're doing it to ourselves instead of having an oppressive government do it to us. Don't believe me? Compare doublethink language structures to Internet grammar alterations and spelling elisions.

Global Mods on this forum are very trusted to make responsible comments and decisions. Unless specifically overridden by someone with a red name, you should take their word as gospel.

They already did answer you; You just didn't grasp the message.
  20. There are two concepts at work when someone talks about balance in singleplayer, and you people keep eliding them. You need to learn to separate them and tackle them independently. 1) Over- or underpowered items, blocks, methods, exploits, whatevers, that derail the game for you. (Solution: Either willpower, or writing a quickie mod to remove crafting recipes.) 2) Items, blocks, methods, whatevers that for a person need only adjustment of durations, quantities, frequencies, potencies, and the like. (Solution: Reconfigure mod if possible; Rewrite mod if not.) There is a big difference between saying "I don't want to spawn items with NEI because it feels like cheating" and "I don't like how easy it is to transmute, and think it should come with some EMC loss".

Please, do continue. I am deriving quite a bit of entertainment with this thread and Google Translate.
  23. Create some sort of highscore, and create some way to destroy an item to gain highscore, as junk disposal. Let this be done directly from the inventory.

I still can't speak for them, but in my opinion, someone who wants to be the technician of a piece of software designed to aid in the use of language for discussion needs to have a better grasp of the language.

I can't speak for them, but in my opinion, the forum we have is near-ideal, so there wouldn't be any reason to alter it.
