  1. They'll probably make a magic-heavy modpack (maybe they already have), and completely miss the point of Hexxit, that being an adventure focus and a huge difficulty spike aimed at a small tight-knit group of people playing together, maybe even using a form of voice communication (like Teamspeak, Skype, Raidcall, Mumble etc).
  2. What if it's a nazi gone rogue? Or you being a private nazi investigator (I guess?) on the trail of something sinister? I mean, according to the developers, the nazis themselves don't know how they basically won WW2 overnight and how they have all this crazy technology. At least the regular nazis don't know. What if you were a low-rank nazi trying to find the truth? I'd goddamn play that.
  3. I am sad that they abandoned Mechwarrior Living Legends. That was a fantastic total conversion mod.
  4. So it's just like Gratuitous Space Battles. Meh.
  5. You mean coding the game from scratch within the CC? I doubt it would be possible, except for simplest possible mechanics. Maybe 2D. I just can't imagine programming a 3D rendering engine, and then an additional game engine etc from scratch using CC.
  6. Not a problem for me. 60 Mbps up/down for home broadband. Yay for Norwegian fiber net!
  7. Both the pulverizer and the induction smelter have a low chance of producing secondary output, ranging between 5-10%. In the case of the pulverizer, you only get the secondary that is relevant to the input (such as lead byproduct for silver). This is fine and all, but in the case of the induction smelter, you actually get the secondary that can be used on ANY other ore. Instead of pulverizing gold ore and getting 10% copper, you can induction smelt gold ore, get 10% rich slag, and then use that rich slag on other gold ore to get 10% more gold instead of copper. tl;dr it's more flexible. The only exception is pulverizing ferrous ore, since I don't think there are any other ways to get shiny dust/ingots.
  8. I've looked through the last 2 pages, and it seems like this thread stopped being about good games that nobody played and just became about games people like. Of the last 20-30 posts, maybe 3-4 games are obscure. I've personally played a lot of Colobot in the good old days.
  9. Oh come on, the bot emulates a female asian. What hips?
  10. That walk isn't nearly as swagger as it could be.
  11. I've recently bought a game called Unepic, after watching a certain video. It definitely is entertaining.
  12. Gregtech would be using Holy Planks of Sengir - and it fits, too, I mean, they are planks, right? And they are blessed with the Power of Movement.
  13. Oh man, you got us good! You master of ruses.
  14. What's your intention, anyway? What's the reason for you to ban evade? To convince people that FTB is better? Your actions certainly aren't helping your cause.
  15. Would you stop goddamn multiposting? You can put multiple quotes in the same post. And stop harping about permissions, nobody gives a shit around here, if you didn't notice. As for modpack quality, it's not meant to be about having a few HIGHLY EXCLUSIVE MOD AUTHOR CIRCLEJERK modpacks. The point of the Technic Platform is to allow people to freely make and distribute their mods, no matter if it's a small group of people on their tiny passworded server, or a big conglomerate of people all united as one. The elitism of the whole FTB philosophy reeks hard of rotten fish, and no sugarcoating can fix that.
  16. The unifier has a big advantage in that it can be automated. That's a pretty big deal, I think.
  17. Are there even any adventure maps that have a mod dependency nowadays? Usually, people make do with vanilla, which is disappointing, but understandable (as it makes the simple act of playing an adventure map more complex by requiring an installation of a modpack or at least one-two mods with a fixed config).
  18. There will always be people who complain. I can sort of understand the sentiment of the "one mod solves it all" issue (just look at how DW20 regressed from solving all kinds of problems with a clever combination of different mods and mechanics to TURTLES EVERYWHERE), but this mod is not the point of attack, really. Its greatest contribution to the game is the ability to move any blocks of your choosing in any fashion you want (except rotating them, but that's a limitation we have to live with). RIM in particular excels at how flexible the system is - but in the end, it only adds ONE function, even if the function is very flexible. I, personally, adore the template carriages (not least because I was the "idea guy" that came up with them :3c), because tunnel boring machines are a passion of mine, and templates make it that much easier to make them without the annoying limiations of standard frame carriages. Then there's the fact that now your carriages can be camouflaged perfectly as ANY mod block with vanilla rendering mechanics, which opens a whole slew of possibilities of secret doors, hidden passages, flexible geometry rooms (seriously, I am thinking of making a factory that can rearrange itself dynamically to perform different tasks). I probably shouldn't praise something or someone so directly, but it's just that RIM has greatly exceeded my wildest dreams and expectations when it comes to the simple act of moving around blocks in Minecraft. As for the "easy/cheaty" aspect of the mod, just announce a competition or contest of sorts, for people to come up with the different recipes for alternate difficulty modes for your mod, and then implement the most reasonable ones. Your mod is not cheap in terms of wood, that's true, but that's only a problem in vanilla, without powermods like MFR, which provide logs by the stackful. And since it's almost guaranteed that people will only use RIM in conjuction with 10 other mods, it'd be nice to be able to balance this mod in regards to different configurations. Perhaps go the route of MPS or MFR, and add different recipes based on installed mods, such as: TE IC2 MFR BC Let people come up with recipe proposals, and then dance from there.
  19. Your mod does have plenty of things that no other frame mod has, and that I doubt will be added by Elo, even if he/she updates. Omnidirectional drives, drives that move with the structure, different kinds of structures - I seriously doubt these will be added to RP2 any time soon, if ever. Provided the mod gets enough publicity, it will become irreplaceable in the grand scheme of things.
  20. I can almost guarantee that Wylker is going to do a spotlight of RIM. Might even be a good idea to contact him and point this thread out. Then again, the fact that this thread is already at 22 pages after, what, 3 weeks, is pretty good for a relatively small community (many of which never even visit this subforum to begin with). Someone's bound to notice it.
  21. You were JUST complaining about being bottlenecked by materials.
  22. jakj, just like many other people on this forum, dislikes the official minecraft forums greatly. I doubt he's willing to put his mod out there.
  23. 20x5x4? Are you insane? 5x5x5 is way more than you will EVER need.
