  1. When I was 7 or 8 years old, my father-side family brought me to church for christmas. They were really religious, catholic to be precise. I love christmas, even now, I think it's a great moment for all the family to re-unite, but this one year, this part of my family really insisted so we would go to the mass. I remember I found the building really pretty, with the gold-ish art, and all the arts. I asked my aunt what this place was for. "It's a church, it's to honor our God. We're here to thank him for the beautiful year we just had." At this moment, this concept of God was a new thing to me. My parents are indifferent to religion, and never really touched the subject with me. Not to keep me ignorant, but probably because they just didn't care. However, I had read books, I was (And I am) a real bookworm. I knew about evolution, the Big Bang theory, the formation of the solar system, the conditions that made life possible on Earth. And I could also explain tides, M. O'Reilly. I asked her why I should thank this god guy. "Well, it's because of him that we have our world, and that we're all here." "How can a single guy make the whole world? It's impossible. The world was made by star dusts sticking together." "He's not just a "guy", God is very powerful. He lives in the sky, and it's him who created the world, not some stupid theory." At this moment, I was getting a bit mad, because I knew the theory explaining the formation of stars and planets was proven and could be observed in Nebulas. "There isn't air in space, god would die if he was there! And this isn't a stupid theory, it's proven!" Since I was talking a bit loud, and the mass was about to start, she dryly told me to shut up, and I think I fell asleep after about fifteen minutes of recitation of prayers. I think my parents carried me to the car and next thing, I was waking up at home and unpacking my gifts. The Morale of the story? For me, I don't talk about God with my religious family, because I want to keep good relations with them. For others though, it's that if I didn't had some of the knowledge I had at this time, I might have found this "guy in the sky" story perfectly logical, and maybe I would be a good little christian today. My cousins who were born in this part of my family go to church pretty often. That's the power that religion can have on innocent kids, if they aren't given anything else to believe, the religion seems to be the option by default.
  2. Anti-Joke chicken, you did it again!
  3. Sorry for the slow answer! I wanted to have some things finished before posting again. Those things being the columns for the two first levels! The first level's ones are made of smooth cobalt, and the seconds, of polished stone slabs. I really can't wait to see how it'll look once I'm through all the way to the top. Here's the first application of microblocks, the detail of the top and base of the columns. I might make it a bit more complex later on, I'll see. The next levels are smaller, so I'll see how much I can get done today.
  4. Ah, so you're using the dev build? Anyway, I just did the change because I wanted 256 blocks worlds.
  5. Oh, I missed the point of your post. Then, I guess if we're talking about banks, the numbers become far larger, huh. Well, it's the problem of the banks, I couldn't care less about them. As long as I get my interest, that is.
  6. Oh, I was wondering, what version of what are you using so you can macerate blaze rods? Because in mine, I can't It's not destroying my life, but I was wondering.
  7. I made a quick calculation : 0,04$ (The maximum loss per hour) * 8 hours (A LONG day of work) * 365 days = 116,80$ of loss per year. I guess that could be a good bit of cash for poorer people, but even then, I am pretty sure there are side-measures to compensate this.
  8. Thanks for the input guys! So far : Those are my experiments at making basalt bricks columns. I'm also wondering whether it's the bricks or the plain basalt that looks better for the columns... Anyway, I plan on changing the floor, to add more texture to it. I didn't think about the "ruined" aspect of the tower Adler, but it is a possibility. I'll see what it looks like to have some spots of mossy brick. Also, don't worry, I never planned on using those disgusting spawners, they're far too annoying to use. However, It's pretty disappointing that there aren't eggs for the modded mobs. Screw marble bricks, they're far too pure for a demonic tower. I'll try an alternation of stone bricks and basalt bricks for the general construction, and smooth basalt and smooth basalt in complement.
  9. Oh... If you try thinking ONE second, it indeed makes sense; sadly I didn't have the instinct to do this Anyway, my comment stands.
  10. This is not dubstep, but this is pretty much the only music thread active right now, so I'll just dump this here. I can't seem to stop listening to this. If you listen to the lyrics, the song gets ten times more amazing.
  11. Good eve/morning, Technicians! I am here with you today, to present you my first public, and certainly most ambitious project as of now, the Tower of Ys! This beautiful piece of demonic architecture originates in the series of RPG's "Ys". Those excellent games usually center on a hero who has to go up in the tower, each level being a complex dungeon, and fighting multiple bosses on the way, all of this to get to the summit, usually the nest of the final boss. Thus, I was playing Ys : Origins lately, and the thought of the Tower transposed into MC passed through my mind. And ever since it did, I could simply not forget about it. The first version of "The Tower of Ys" is finally up! After a good deal of sweat, and a bit of blood, I can finally present it to you : Version 1.3.1 : http://www.mediafire.com/?pkr6g3wucti41i7 Ancient versions : 1.0.0 : http://www.mediafire.com/?7cddnervbof11w7 1.1.0 : http://www.mediafire.com/?l56c8x0k958tlh4 1.2.0 : http://www.mediafire.com/?waywu9mbw9mw4a0 Don't forget to comment and tell if there is anything ambiguous, strange, anything really! Gallery : This last one is my desktop
  12. Hey, I love what you did on the third floor, with the logs and the wood! Maybe a should give a chance to wooden houses after all.
  13. I agree. Every time I try introducing my friends CoD playing friends to Starcraft, they go all for Terran. Because they like a defensive playstyle? Because they are interested by the center in opposition to the expensive Protoss and the cheap Zergs? Nope. Because GUNZ NI SHITS. Since I'm a Protoss player, I like high tech things with curves (I can't stand the Conglomerate because of that), that's why Vanu is the only choice for me.
  14. So I really am the only Vanu, uh. Oh well, too freakin bad, I'll be kicking asses alone in my Scythe!

That's the influence of a good admin on a thread, transform anything into a contest for the most annoying post.
  16. My brain physically choked while I was reading the second sentence I understand, I never really noticed it, but I have a fairly good connection, so I guess it could be a problem for other users. Thanks for answering.
  17. Could you put up a screenshot of the cobble generator?
  18. I've got one, but it's not out yet Castle Story is looking good, and I'm getting it as soon as possible. It's about little guys building their castle on floating islands, and the liberty aspect seems fairly well developed. We don't know much about it for now though.
  19. First off, the wind turbines won't work at this height, they need to be at at least 90 blocks high to produce I think. Next, the 4x ins iron cables lose a LOT of energy on distance, and solar panels produce only a little bit. It is very possible that all the EU they produce is lost in the wires. Try replacing those big wires with fiber glass if you still have some, or copper, and it should work.

    Im confused

For me, it's usually the other way around...
  21. I prefer Supah Hakahs...

  22. First of all, spelling "energy" as "NRG" isn't going to get you anywhere. Now, could you post screenshots of 1: the wire and the batbox, 2, the wires and the wind turbines, solar panels and 3, your quarry. Next, what is the lengths for energy source-batbox and batbox-quarry. Finally, what wire do you use?
  23. Hey, I was just wondering, and I guess this is kind of On-topic. I have seen multiple Xenforo sites who allowed to directly embed videos from hosting sites (Youtube etc..). I wanted to know if this feature was absent from Technic forums for a particular reason, or if it could be added in the future. I don't know if it would be a lot of work to add this, and of course, if you don't want to add it, I won't say anything about it. :D
