    Howdy :)

Yes, but I'm greedy about power. If I upgrade a panel into an array, I don't make a smaller farm. Instead, I make more panels and more arrays until I have an equally-large farm, but simply far more powerful. I'd imagine many people would prefer to make large farms to arrays anyways, which is why I could see a server banning them, unless it was a small whitelisted one.
  2. Personally I think that if you want to play Call of Duty, go play that game and not mix it into Minecraft. But that's just me. Anyways, I don't really think it fits the theme of Technic/Tekkit. A lot of it either aims at the magical or technological side of advancement. Guns... Well, SDK's Gun Mod was removed for a reason I'd imagine. Otherwise, I just don't know about guns. They aren't an upgrade to anything really (IC2/EE2/TC2 all provide equal or superior alternatives), and they don't move things forward at all. If you want to manually install it to your Pack, feel free to, but I want nothing to do with this personally.
  3. If you have Java for windows, you probably have windows. Just tell me: When you look in the bottom-left of your screen, is there a little button with a wndowpane-looking symbol with red, green, blue, and yellow on it?
  4. How I managed to miss this and not poke fun at him myself is beyond me.

Lots of solar panels = Lots of EU being computed to go from lots of different places. It can lag my computer if my solar farm gets too big, so I'd imagine it can hurt the tick rate of a server too.
  6. I remember when I was 15 or so, my best friend and I each brought a basketball, a notebook, a little metal chest, and writing utensils down to the local park. We hosted what essentially was a knockout tournament, but with a twist. There was a $1.00 entrance fee, but for every person you knock out, you earn half of their entry fee and we kept the other half. People could always re-enter until the finals, but it cost another dollar to get in. We also had like a $10.00 grand prize and like $5.00 second place prize for the finals. By the end of the day, due to our creativity and organizational skills, we each walked away with twenty bucks, the winner walked away with twenty bucks, some people broke even, and a couple lost everything. But it was fun and earned us some cash.
  7. If you agree with a post, just say so, and explain why you agree with it. Upvoting, downvoting, all the semantic bullshit is just an excuse to allow anonymous trolling. If a +1 is all you have to add to a conversation, don't do anything. Sit and think of something you can add to the conversation while simultaneously agreeing with whichever post you like. And if you can't think of anything, just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. Too often I find myself tempted to write, "Oh wow, this made me laugh so hard," or "I can't say enough how I agree with this." Far, far too often for my own good.
  8. It's most likely just a problem with minecraft.net itself. Hopefully it'll work itself out; try again later and see if it works. It's working for me at the moment though, so if you can't get on right this moment like I just did then it's obviously not minecraft.net itself.
  9. Looks like I'll be learning to program soon! I hate mucking about with redstone and I avoid it as much as possible. Which is odd, because I'm absolutely in love with EU Cables and Buildcraft Pipes.
  10. I've never particularly enjoyed redstone or its applications. I prefer simplicity in that aspect. If I can just use a torch, button, pressure plate, or lever as opposed to anything else, that item will be my first choice. From then on it's simplicity first, always. Just my personal preference, though.
  11. It was Freshman Keyboarding, but I doubt it's just a regional thing, as it was eventually renamed "Computer Class."
  12. I sometimes do the same as the OP. Maybe not close the tab, just simply not post what I was going to. Sometimes, I just can't find the right wording for something. Or I simply change my mind.
  13. I doubt it'd matter if he were on the board of the whole company; the Technic Pack is popular, but definitely not that popular. I think of this way: The Technic Pack is somewhat well-known in the Minecraft community. The Minecraft community is a fraction of mainstream gamers, and while most people have heard of and/or played Minecraft, most haven't heard of the Technic Pack. Mainsteam Gaming > Minecraft > Mods > Technic Pack A fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the whole doesn't necessarily equal popularity in the whole. It can be, but it is rare. One could even go farther to put All Games > Computer Games > Indie Games > Minecraft > Mods > Mod Packs > Technic Pack
  14. Well, good luck to you but I just don't see the point in owning or paying for a strategy guide for a game on the computer you need an internet connection to begin playing, with (Literally) hundreds of free guides out there. As for that part, I wish you a lot of luck. So much in fact I'm going to steal a little for myself. Thanks. Some of the original modders (Thaumcraft 2 I'm looking at you) refuse to tell anything about their mods or anything like that, because it would ruin the 'mystery' of figuring the mod out.
  15. It's a sandbox game. You have to make your own goals. What do you want to accomplish with Tekkit? And please, do not say Anyways, I'd start by mining and becoming familiar with the new ores you'll be seeing. Search "direwolf20" and/or "Yogscastlalna" on Youtube for some tutorials, or stop by our Let's Play Pavillion for some tutorials on how to use these mods to accomplish your goals. But again, it is a sandbox game, and you have to create and accomplish your own goals. Do what you want, and use the mods to help you get there!
  16. You probably have a bad internet connection, the host has a bad internet connection, or something along those lines. It shouldn't have anything at all to do with Tekkit or the Technic Pack, so I would search online for solutions.
  17. Doing a Minecraft Let's Play will make you famous on YouTube because you're so creative and different from everyone else.
  18. Well, there's YouTube. direwolf20 has fairly informative guides, Yogscastlalna has somewhat informative guides put in layman's terms. We have a whole Let's Play Pavillion with Tutorial Videos (Although their quality I am unsure of, because I have not watched a single one! ). It would get them publicity, yes, but it wouldn't necessarily increase their reputation. There are lots of Kellers and children out there who hate the Technic Team already because they came here, all self-entitled, demanding help, recognition, to have their hands held, whatever, who would go absolutely insane if the Technic Team sold anything.
  19. If you knew they didn't take donations and they weren't interested in money, why did you post this at all? I'm fairly sure SpaceToad did something like this idea before, and they're busily mocking it elsewhere in the forums. Edit: I understand you want to make money for the Technic Team and the Modders, to show your appreciation, but there are plenty of free guides out there already and selling one would probably do little for their reputation. Also I don't mean to sound hostile, I'm just weighing in on this. Second Edit: NightKev corrected my mistake, I mixed up SpaceToad and CovertJaguar.
  20. The Technic Team probably could make money if they wanted to. But they don't, they pay for it all out of their own pockets and they don't take donations. So I'd imagine that they aren't interested in making money or a strategy guide. I understand you have good intentions and all, but next time, just read around. Make sure you aren't saying something that may make you look stupid or check to make sure your information is correct. Oh, and yes, they have a donations page, but donations go to the modders, not the team themselves.
  21. First, you calm down. Seriously, it'll be okay. Second, you realize that you're running the server so you have access to the console anyways so you don't need to be OP, because you can just put the commands into the server's console yourself. (From here on out optional) Third, you type in, "op (Your name here)" into the console. Fourth, you rejoice! You are now an OP! Fifth, you get hungry, go out for pizza, and give Adlersch a slice just 'cause.
  22. Not really, although you could check the Get Lost Grotto for adventure maps, and Xylord is creating (What may potentially become) an adventure map about the Tower of Ys, although it is very much WIP right now.
  23. Technic isn't ready for 1.2.5 in a stable form yet. Give it time. I really, really, really don't suggest using the dev build for normal play, especially right now, because it can have major holes and bugs in it, and right now from what I hear over and over and over again, it does. Just try to enjoy 1.1 Technic, or 1.2.5 Tekkit (It works for singleplayer too if you just wanna fiddle with some of the IC2 and EE and such in the 1.2.5 worlds) until it's ready. Or use the dev build at your own risk, understanding that it can have problems and it's not finished yet.
  24. So the other day I was walking out of the store after buying some groceries and what-have-you. Upon exiting the store, I was met by a beggar soliciting passers-by for spare change. He was dressed in what I could best describe as old-timey train overalls. You know, the blue-striped kind that people that worked on trains would wear ages ago, complete with black 'coal' marks, patches, wear-and-tear, a little red bandana, hat, the whole shebang. Now, I live in a small town so someone doing this is really uncommon. Like, really, really uncommon. Like, this is the first time in my life that I've had someone beg for money outside the store in my town. Heck, I knew this guy once. But his whole getup and act (He and his little beagle were supposed bums who got off a freight train at the our station which has been out of use for half a century by accident) was just so creative and absolutely perfect that I couldn't resist giving him a few bucks before heading to the car. So here is the question I pose to you: What have been the most creative solutions to money problems that you've personally seen in your lifetime? EDIT: Please no being dickbags to people who think something is a creative solution to a problem, even if you don't. Really, this is just a friendly discussion thread - if you don't think something is creative, just please don't say anything.
  25. You don't need any particular version, it installs its own minecraft along with all the mods. Just run the launcher and it'll take care of everything for you. Like, you can install the Technic Pack, it installs in a different area than your Minecraft. So you can have your normal Minecraft and the Technic Pack at the same time, with different versions. They don't affect each other.
