  1. Excuse me (READ: Oops!). I meant to write 'type,' but I was thinking of the keyboarding class (That was its name) in High School, so it was a legitimate mistake as opposed to a failure in grammar. That is a good example of grammar failures though, so I'll leave it be.
  2. Well, the recommended build of Tekkit is 1.2.5, so it should be up-to-date. If you transfer the Technic version to Tekkit you may have to tweak/redo some things however, as the updated mods may not work the same way. I'd love to take part in any of that however, and help as much as I can, so I wouldn't worry about it too much just yet.
  3. Duncan makes 'those little mistakes' that annoy the living hell out of me though sometimes. You can see where he does cuts and fixes things, which I don't mind (I actually prefer it, it shows a degree of professionalism), so why can't he make cuts and fix his mistakes and misconceptions and explain where he was wrong? Direwolf's okay, and good to learn bits and pieces, but his playlists can be so incomprehensible or outdated that I could figure those things out myself more accurately myself in less time.
  4. Unfortunately that's where your guess is as good as mine. I'm admittedly relatively new to these forums and the pack and have had to mostly figure things out myself (And only what I have been interested in, which unfortunately doesn't cover much SMP or map-transferring). If I had known, I would have said so earlier. I'll try to find out what I can and get back to you, however.
  5. I fail to see why it matters in the wide world. In a hypothetical situation, if I don't believe in a God, Goddess, gods, or any higher power of any sort, but I see a known church member in my town or prominent local religious figure doing something nice, the why doesn't matter to me. So what if they want to cozy up to a higher power I don't believe in? Who cares WHY they do it? As long as they're doing it, and continue to do it, I'm going to just mark it up as a nice person doing nice things. Why a person does something kind is their business, in my opinion. I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially if I'm not working at the local soup kitchen myself. Edit: Also, the same could be said for a non-religious person. If that person wants to look good in their community, doing kind things 'out of compassion' would be the way to go. Just saying, doing right things for the wrong reasons isn't just a flaw some religious people have. It, like all flaws, is a humanistic one.
  6. Not often towers are compared to women. Anyways, when you finish the tower and feel comfortable with it (Including balancing), I'll be here for ideas and (If you can manage to put it on an SMP server) even help with the landscape and grander adventure, as that will the 'the daunting task' of the adventure, should you choose to go forward with it in that direction.
  7. I'm almost certain it has something to do with Internet Explorer. Install Firefox or something and try to use that to download the Launcher. It happens from time to time with me.
  8. I wanted to say that earlier, but I simply could not find the words. I'd assume he has a different keyboard than we do, if he has to hold shift. Or it was a simple mistake in his thought process; doesn't matter though. 2 vs. two, not much of a timesaver if people would actually take the time to learn to keyboard.
  9. - Hal Sparks, on his comedy album Charmageddon.
  10. Another retarded MC Forums* attitude that we have thankfully nothing to do with. That way to don't have to deal with even more children calling one another noobs and lying about how long they've been registered on the forums. *Or any other horrific comparable online forum
  11. Looking forward to it. Hopefully we can also help you to balance things just how you want them by essentially playtesting it for you, too!
  12. More or less. We can hope Kellering or warnings help them to mature or learn the rules, but really, if they react positively to a warning and learn from it, they already have a degree of maturity and most likely have had a bad experience on another forum like the MC Forums or another vile den of "GIMME GIMME GIMME! Now fuck off youz n00bz!" Or they've never been to those, and to those idividuals I'd suggest one thing: Don't go there.
  13. Meanwhile, on the original site... ...What? Not only that, but has anyone read the dropdowns? "Video nasties," "Satan's Internet..." Again, what? I might have to buy one of those handbooks to decipher all this...
  14. Personally I think they're both just too different for that. Hack/Mine is a dungeon-crawling, monster-slaying rpg with a chip on its shoulder. For that reason, I don't fuck with it, it doesn't fuck with me. I play it as intended, it doesn't rip the other parts of my modpack apart (Such as Technic or Yogbox).
  15. First things first: Just use Google Translate if you're bad at English, so you can more easily understand me, and I can understand you. Second: Check the Useful Guides/Links page. Again, just use Google Translate and translate the English into your native language so you can understand it better. Third: Click on the server setup links depending on which machine you're running. If you still have problems, read more of the Useful Guides/Links page, like bugfixes and whatnot. If that fails, read other threads and see if anyone has your problem too and how they fixed it.
  16. Go to the Java website I'd imagine. If that fails, do a quick Google (Or Bing, or whatever else) search for your answer. If you have a 32-bit system though, you can just go to the main page of the Technic Pack site and download the 32-bit Java.
  17. Oh sweet, Kochi is a growing center of the IT industry?! Time to buy buy buy flats!! ...Now where the hell is Kochi?
  18. There will always be defensive counters to any form of combat, it doesn't matter if we use bullets, rail guns, lasers, or nuclear warheads. There will always be a way to either neutralize or even deflect attacks. The defending ship could launch two smaller missles (Used for defensive purposes or close-range [<5 km] combat), one to detonate the enemy missle, one more high-explosive missle to detonate slightly closer to the defending ship so the force would push back, slow, or even stop any debris or shrapnel to the point where conventional shielding would hold up.
  19. Except for the fact that for gunpowder to ignite, one would need oxygen for the reaction to occur. If we're waaaay out of the Earth's atmosphere, rail guns, lasers, and other 'alternative' weapons would be much more practical. Not to mention that railguns are already far more powerful (And expensive) than almost any conventional firearm. Edit: Although I could see supplying oxygen from inside the ship or something similar, it wouldn't be something I would want to use for fighting, but rather for use for myself.
  20. I wonder about the implications of lasers. I'm curious if shielding systems (Conventional or new) would be invented. Simply put, would shields meant to resist lasers and reflect light be made? Military-grade mirrors. That's a scary thought. Anyways, I also wonder if there would be any solar-panelesque shields that somehow harness the light produced and resist it, although that mostly stays in fantasy as I have neither the desire nor ability to think of anything practical at all - basically the arms race between shielding and weaponry would have to be extremely intense, and shielding would have to outrun weaponry by miles. Something that generally doesn't happen.
  21. Solution: Boarding craft. Get on a smaller ship, get closer, use plasma cutters to open the ship's hull (I'm talking really big. Like starship big, if we're going sci-fi), get inside, try to disable the shields or wreak enough havoc so that the shields can't be directed or otherwise used effectively. Alternatively, just get close with a small vessel and just fire from an unprotected or less-protected angle. Edit: Funny how this went from our children and how people are being raised to discussion of how sci-fi space battles could be done in reality.
  22. Not a meme. Please dear lady Jay?, or even lord Kakermix, not a meme! Have mercy on my tortured soul, what have I done to be subjected to so many memes in a single night? ...What? I'm still looking for a reason the Technic Pack team is obligated to do anything for any of us. Especially considering it's a free pack that you must have willingly downloaded. The team doesn't make us pay for it, they don't profit from it. We don't deserve it, we're not entitled to it. If I stop liking the pack, I'll use a version I like, or I won't use the pack until I start liking it again. Really, if you don't like something that's free, just don't take it. You're not obligated to do so just as much as they aren't obligated to give it out.
  23. Not to mention the fact that the only effective weapons at the moment would be rail guns (Unwieldy superelectromagnetic tubes which shoot out metal rods at insanely high speeds), and even if people were to get out of their ships to fight or escape implosion, one hit not only can fatally wound you, but it'd simply ruin your protection against the vacuum of space, simultaniously boiling your blood and crystalizing your cells. Explosive death followed by frozen chunks of human meat floating around... Eww.
  24. The best we can really do right now is teach our own descendants what we believe is right and hope it is. Then we hope they pass that on to their descendants. We can try to spread our ideals to our peers or convince them to spread the ideals they hold if we agree with them, but you can't force anyone to do anything and it borderlines on control-freak-it's-my-child-not-yours-don't-come-visit-againness. I have more to say on this subject, but I simply cannot find the words right now after several minutes of trying.
  25. Oh, wow. I didn't even notice that! I've noticed it happens to apply to lots of situations on these forums actually. Especially when speaking to people who just don't understand the rules.
