It is very possible that you have discovered a new issue my friend. I have never heard of any issues relating to the username before but spaces in them are pretty uncommon. Just a shot in the dark but could it be something to do with migrated accounts?

Just so you know, the Tachnic launcher has no effect on your other minecraft (the default one) so having sounds in that is a mute (pardon the pun) point. EDIT: Unless you mean the vanilla option in the launcher, that would be a different story

Sigh, don't bump please. You likely have a 64 bit computer (if you read the COMMON PROBLEMS AND SOLUTION sticky like you should have you would know how to find this.) If this is the case, uninstall your Java and download the 64 bit version.

As Torezu has stated in other threads, that is only a temporary patch job. It will not work well and not using the latest version of Java will preclude you from other things as well.

Uninstall Java 6 and get Java 7 (the newest version) if that doesn't work come back.

Actually I believe (correct me someone if I am wrong) that you can have two types of Java (some people use more than one for various reasons) as long as you have the technical skills to tell the Launcher and other programs to pick and use only one. Again this is only something that I think I have heard so take with a grain of salt. Also, very nice post Perhaps you could talk to one of the admins (red names and the devs of the pack) to see if this is indeed as easy as adding quotes. If so they may (repeat) may, patch/fix this.

You shouldn't have two javas, uninstall Java 6 and see if that helps.

To clarify, is it a download issue or does it give you a white/black screen? Some more info would be helpful.

If the world was originally a Technic world you will be having larger issues that simply not having ores. The block ID's are different between the two pack IIRC. There are also likely many other issues. I would just start a new world.

Okay so walk me through this... Is the launcher downloaded? If yes, are you trying to downgrade to a version for Minecraft 1.1? If yes, are you selecting it from the drop down list? If yes, is this when the Download Failed message appears?

Yah that is what happens my advice is to make a new map. With all of the new features it will be a very different experience anyway

Generally when you try to do this it just causes CTD or white-screens so I would say that you are lucky to only have biome issues. I have not heard of this happening though and I don't know of any fixes sorry.

That is usually what causes the Download Failed issue. Try reading the COMMON PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS sticky in the bug section. I don't know if there is anything for macs there but its worth a shot. If that fails post a bug report (be detailed) and we can try to help.
