  1. pipes still need a pipe that say only has 1 input and 1 output adjustable via a wrench. I hate that say I have 2 machines next to the same piece of wooden pipe, both machines outputs get taken. Or trying to stick a teleport or gold pipe off the output side of a row of machines even though you've alternated stone/cobble to keep them apart the addons will still intermix. What sucks is trying to provide a hidden means of providing redstone power, EU power, input pipe, and output pipe to a machine without any of that being seen.
  2. why can't the nether ever be NICE for once? Place my portal on layer 57 facing N/S and end up on layer 117 in the nether up in the ceiling over the god damned lava ocean.
  3. i guess it may come down to space. I'm trying to use the 3 block wide space in my castle wall to house my storage chests. I got 4 blocks in height to work with and more than enough in length.

    WARNING!

omg, neowulf made me fall down laughing....
  5. i dont have anything built yet, so its fine. I was merely wondering from a startup cost if it might be cheaper to go with pipes first and then convert.
  6. how easy is it to convert a sorting warehouse setup from using BC pipes to redpower tubes? Or if I should even bother starting with pipes...I'm presently building the structure right now.
  7. i need to learn about redpower tubes and turtles still :(
  8. wow, 124 views and only 2 responses today so i'm trying to figure out how many generators my main base actually needs. i'm going with geothermal primarily for the machines and maybe use the output in the base to operate a refinery and then have combustion engines using the fuel to send BC power to quarries eventually. Its so hard to gauge consumption needs beforehand :)
  9. not necessarily. All depends on if the need for new chunk generation is needed strongly. I'm not expanding very much right now.
  10. I started a new map today and have been actually building a nice looking castle base from the start. I haven't even gone below layer 50 yet. It somehow seems the more time I put into my initial bases looks the longer I stay with a particular map.
  11. i've come to not like it myself since its an all or nothing thing. I've spent more time into the window frames design to just make them look better. My two favorite are both bay window derivatives. One uses glass blocks whilst the other uses panes and "wraps" the opening from the outside. Both use stair blocks and sometimes fence posts to accentuate the look or style as needed.
  12. this is true. that is one of the key flaws in efficiency with EU :)
  13. is using BC power for quarry's more efficient than trying to use EU? Your idea is worthy of trying as I have no use yet for fuel/oil implemented. I'll have to do some redstone mod reading though.
  14. the same wiki that told me rotary macerators could handle 128 eu/t too.
  15. aren't the cells used as fast as lava buckets though?
  16. turtle minions? caps are for the non-unix people :)
  17. rofl...i love the single core hatred... The game is coded for java which by itself is coded for single to multi core processors. It's still going to be a while for handheld devices etc to be up to the multi core par of desktop computers so there's still plenty of point to designing things to run decent on single core processors.
  18. why do you need lava cells at all? so far i've just been pumping lava straight into the geotherm. i've yet to touch the redpower mod really. Hell, I still have to dabble in the railcraft mod too :)
  19. I was curious to get some thoughts on people's differing methods for powering quarry's, especially once they start quarrying far from their bases. So far, my initially method for the first 1-3 quarries is usually just a copper cable strung out from the base to a batbox and then energy link between that and the quarry. My first go at tekkit I had used steam engines with coal and frankly that got very old very fast. Now I am quite hooked on geothermal, but i have yet to use it as a means of remote quarry power. It would be hard of course with my usual approach. teleport pipe to a tank or two and then pump it right into a geothermal and have a batbox on it and energy link etc...

    F10

it's right up there with F11
  21. well, i haven't bothered yet for attempt 4 since the current new portal it made in the overworld is precisely where it should be for the gate in the nether. i'm in the process of making a new expansion to my base to house a gate. i'll just have to see where this gate should generate once i'm done and see what caused all this mess in the first place.
  22. my problem is I don't want to move the portal in the nether. I can handle moving the one at my base though.
  23. ok, so I tried this method to move the portal. It generated a brand new portal in the overworld about 20 blocks north of the second screwup but on the surface ( layer 64) as opposed to layer 40. It's still 200 blocks away from my base's portal Maybe it just doesn't like my first portal.
  24. the original portal in the nether spawned in the side of a netherack cliff. i have amybe 7 or 8 blocks out from it to the lake. Was it the cliff that caused the problem or the nearness of the lake?
  25. i had thought plains myself, but am leaning more towards desert isles. I was also told rumor held it desert biomes had higher mineral spawn numbers.
