Your server version and client version don't match. You'll want to go in and manually select the client build to match up with the server build. So, if you're using server 3.1.1 you need to run the 3.1.1 client. If it's 3.1.2, same thing.

They sure do. But is that really such a bad thing?
-
Not necessarily. It just depends if you have any of those unstackable items in the project table inventory. For example when making an overclocking upgrade, if you have 6 spare coolant cells in addition to the rest of the items needed in the inventory and shift click, you'll get 2 upgrades and one left in the crafting area. Like Buc said, it will only take from the immediate crafting area if there aren't any usable items for the whole recipe either in the crafting inventory or your own.

Exactly. Griefing isn't something someone does if given the opportunity. In more cases than not, they work very hard at making that opportunity happen and if it fails, finding other ways.

See the free stuff comment I have a hard time understanding. It's not really free stuff since you still have to go get all the resources. Sure, CT3 allows you to skip some crafting steps, like if you're wanting to make a solar panel, it'll calculate if you have the raw materials enough to assemble the circuits and generator in addition the glass and macerated coal. That's kind of neat. But there isn't anything free about it, other than saving you some time. As for the purpose of the modpack, that's a general statement. The purpose of the modpack is to enhance your minecraft experience. Your purpose, my purpose, and smurfkiller's purpose are probably all different and I think the modpack properly captures what we want out of the game. Yep! At least it was in Technic earlier on. I didn't get into Tekkit until recently and CT3 was already in.
-
Well, if CT3 worked as intended it's definitely not cheating. That's where I have to disagree because you're not getting materials for free. Most decent servers don't have EE installed and with good reason, but CT3 may be an option. I can understand the ease of shortcuts and skipping steps. The concept of CT3 is great and that's, again, where I have to disagree. It's the execution of the mod that I have a problem with and the outrage / pleas for it not being in the current build of Tekkit. The mod is garbage (not the concept) and the fact people are upset because they either have to work around it (your project table room example, which I've done myself), or just manually build stuff (also done this) is just ludicrous. I'll reiterate to proactively quell the flames, CT3 in concept is a great idea, but the mod itself sucks and either because it sucks real hard or because it's simply incompatible is why it isn't in the latest build.

[REQUEST] Nice looking HD texture pack that has built in tekkit support.
Beer replied to Ahs19526's topic in Scribble Parlour
If we went off everyones personal standards for things, nothing would get done. I think it's pretty clear what everyone is talking about here and your world is weird. I agree. 32x32 is that happy medium between HD and Default for people with crappy computers (like me). It's not that bad, but it's definitely not that great. -
How Much Lag Does BuildCraft Actually Cause?
Beer replied to xboxnolifes's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Well what I have come to understand about buildcraft and lag, it's not buildcraft itself that causes major lag, it's when it handles objects. It doesn't do it as well or efficiently as redpower. So you move things around in buildcraft pipes, items or liquids, and it just is a lot to process. The more pipes, the more objects, the more lag. You won't see the same result in an equal setup with redpower. -

Well, larger buildcraft machines do end up bogging things down. Equally as large redpower machines do not. Dormant machines shouldn't really do much, but I honestly don't know since I haven't seen a buildcraft setup not running. -
Oh I don't know if it'd suck that bad. Transformers aren't terribly hard to make and once you get the basic components of the solar panel in, it's not that bad at all. If anything, getting the amount of resources just to make the basic panels is the real pain. Once you've got them though, a project table makes the work a lot less tedious.

How Much Lag Does BuildCraft Actually Cause?
Beer replied to xboxnolifes's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
You hit the nail right on the head. You know you're on a smart Tekkit server when Buildcraft has been disabled. There really is no need for it anymore because Redpower can do it better and smarter. Kind of sad though, because like many people, I started with Buildcraft and I enjoy the mod. When ST retired from the project I knew its days were numbered even though 2 reputable guys took the project over. -
How Much Lag Does BuildCraft Actually Cause?

One thing to consider is that IC2 Miners with an OV scanner installed in them will dig down and scan for anything decent in a 9x9 area. The bonus to these is that you can have a network of these to encompass an area equal to that of any quarry, get all the good stuff, and not marr the landscape with massive holes. -
What he's trying to say is, consult the IC2 wiki to see what machines accept what voltage. If you try and hook up a machine to a higher voltage than it can handle, it'll blow up. For example: You can run an MFE to an MFSU no problem because you're going from 128 EU to 512 EU. MFSU's can handle 512 EU and below. If you hook up an MFE to an MFSU, your MFE will blow up because it can handle a maximum voltage of 128 EU a packet and the MFSU emits 512. There are ways many of your machines can handle higher voltage and that is to construct a Transformer Upgrade (not to be confused with transformers themselves) which will bump the amount of voltage that machine can handle up a voltage (LV to MV, or MV to HV).
-
It's been my experience that even if you somehow manage to successfully port your old world, it's just better to start new.
-
It's been 31 minutes. You're totally dropping the ball here.
-
Consult the IC2 wiki. Teir 2 Machines are machines that require Medium Voltage to operate, or anything that requires 128 EU per packet. There are a few of them, such as the induction furnace; however, most of them operate on low voltage power.

How Much Lag Does BuildCraft Actually Cause?
Beer replied to xboxnolifes's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
What people keep forgetting is that buildcraft requires power to operate its pipes wheras redpower functions mainly on a simple redstone signal. Yes, retrievers, sorters and other higher tier machines require blutricity, but -every- pipe in buildcraft requires 1 wooden pipe and an engine to power it, no matter how you shake it. It's just easier to overlook because you don't have to route the power, instead you just plop down a redstone engine and forget about it. But it -is- power. I think it's mainly the massive amount of produced items than it is the block breakers/deployers themselves. Bear in mind that these have more uses than simple cobble generation. Many people also use block breakers to help fuel nuclear plants by way of turning snow (from snow golems) into ice. Not to mention redpower created quarries and a plethora of other uses that come from deployers and block breakers. In fact there is a guy in IRC who's been asking how to work around deployers because the server admin banned them. It's making his tekkit life miserable having to find work arounds for so many things he wants to do. So like you said... consider. I love that you said this, so please take this more as an added criticism and not negative in any way. I wish more people were less "BAN THIS BAN THAT" and more "Consider the options". Great post. I don't say that often at all. -
How Much Lag Does BuildCraft Actually Cause?
Beer replied to xboxnolifes's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
You're not going to see a lot of lag with buildcraft initially. But once you start getting a lot of pipes moving things, quarries, liquid networks, then you'll notice a difference. That's only to say if everything goes as planned. It usually doesn't take long for a pipe to break or something to overflow and cause a massive spill, resulting in client crashing lag. That said, it's not necessarily bad to have but if people on your server are competent with building machines, they should be using redpower over buildcraft to eliminate item spills and overall lag. -
I typically steer people to mod specific wiki's or information pages. You'll get more there and will be less overwhelmed by everything. Take it a mod at a time. I started with buildcraft, moved to IC2, then redpower in that order. The skill of learning is from easy to difficult in that order. Once you hit the level of understanding that is redpower, you'll probably stop using buildcraft altogether and be able to utilize what IC2 has to offer in more efficient ways.
-
Well, then I guess nothing got fixed. With any luck, it'll be resolved in the next redpower update.

Yes to pretty much everything. You're playing with industrialcraft 2. There are 3 levels of voltage. Well, 5 technically, but 3 main ones. LV, MV, and HV. MFE's are medium storage units mainly for MV (Medium voltage) and will transmit 128 EU per packet. Batboxes are for LV (Low voltage) and will transmit 32 EU per packet. Bear in mind many of your machines can only handle 32 EU per packet and unless given a transformer upgrade, will explode when they get too much voltage. MFSU's are high end storage units and transmit 512 EU per packet, or high voltage (HV). I recommend learning more about IC2 before you move forward. the best place is to look at the IC2 wiki which can be found on the IC2 page.

DO NOT DO THIS. THIS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION AND LONG TERM CONFUSION. I AM USING CAPS LOCK SO YOU WILL READ THIS. CAPS LOCK CAPS LOCK CAPS LOOOOOOCK. Now that youv'e read that... Instead you want to Manually Select the 3.1.1 build. The reason for this dramatic post is because dev builds change. If you have 'Latest Dev Build' selected, you're going to have problems down the road when this build goes recommended (which is what you should play, except rare occasions like this one when a build is on the verge of going rec). What is going to happen after the 3.1.1 build goes recommended is a new development build of tekkit will eventually sprout up. Let's look at the chain of events when you have "Latest Dev Build" selected: Technic Launcher updates without prompting You can't log into any server You post on the Tekkit forum asking why. You are mocked and ridiculed. You feel shameful for having Latest Dev Build selected You quit playing Minecraft You look at yourself in the mirror and paint your face with pudding. You masturbate to reruns of the Red Green Show You continue on your downward spiral of shame. You find yourself in a bath house giving free handy's to anyone who's willing You're arrested by the police for solicitation You're sent to prison as an example to other people who have Latest Dev Build selected. Don't have Latest Dev Build selected.

Glad it's working! Just make sure next time you hook up a mass fabricator, you've at least got a bank of fully charged MFSU's and plenty of scrap to go along with it. Also I recommend using glass fibre cables if possible. They're pricey, but worth every diamond. Also, don't use redstone in the recipe... instead use silver as it will net you an additional 2 cable.

Well last time I heard, Eloraam fixed volcanos so they wouldn't generate flat anymore, but I don't think this particular issue has been resolved and to be frankly honest with you, short of forcing minecraft to generate the surrounding chunks when a volcano is formed (I'm not a java coder, I have no freakin' clue if that's possible) I don't see how this particular issue can be fixed.

Ok, so... it's working now?
