Agreed, some sort of wireless redstone is needed to replace the one from Tekkit Lite.

Wanting to buy a tekkit lite server
Timendainum replied to TheDannMiester's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
We're running our server on Aim2Game. 2GB for $20, no user restrictions. Has worked well so far. -
I'll throw in my 2 cents on this one. Without IC2 and RP2 (more Ic2) my friends and our server has decided to opt for sticking with Tekkit Lite rather than start a new Tekkit. For one, it would require regenerating our map. I've not see any upgrades paths anyhow. Too much history to just start over. Secondly, there is no end game content (except space?). The best power generation is either combustion or lava fed engines or generators. No UU matter. No tier 2/tier 3 machines. Thermal Expansion, MFR, all those are great mods. But they are all tier 1 tech with somewhat limited upgrade possibilities. This would feel like a major downgrade to us. While I can understand the decisions made. Tekki Lite presented you with more options that you'd ever need, and the new Tekkit seems simplistic and limited compared to Tekki Lite. Which is ironic considering the naming of each mod pack.

Yep, here is his disclaimer. How lame. TBH, this guy sounds like that jerk that made the Forestry mod.
-
A philosophy I do not understand. You'd think modders would want people to use their mods. Therefore by default give permission to include in mod packs.
-
Because the wall wire looks better, and is more compact. For example you can walk through a block that has wall wire, but not when it's floating jacketed wire. Plus the redpower logic units look way better than the single logic processor from MFR.
-
There was a discussion in the Tekkit Lite forum concerning this. It doesn't sound like the pack producers are interested in including older mods like IC2 or RedPower2. If you want these you add them in yourself, or use Tekkit Lite. Which sounds like they will remain in for the time being.
-
Doesn't the wire from MFR work more like Redstone energy conduits, and less like redpower wire, in the sense of how it's laid on the ground?
-
The most important aspect that needs to be remembered here is upgrade path. We all have servers, some that have been around for a while. The whole reason I use mod packs (and the entire reason I'm here) is to manage updates. The mod pack needs to do all the heavy lifting for me. If this ceases to be the case because the builders of the mod pack make decisions to 'keep it fresh' then I'll be forced to stop using the mod pack. If the new Tekkit has built in Bukkit support, then some pain could be endured doing an upgrade. If not, I think we will skip it. Adding space is not good reason to ruin our entire server by removing 2 of the largest mods in the pack.

No reactors, no redstone wire from RedPower2? Too bad, Galticraft looked interesting. Edit: I guess minefactory reloaded has an redwire alternative. But there are other parts of redpower that will be difficult to live without, like the microblocks.

One think Tekkit Lite is really missing is more mobs. I believe the old Technic pack (single player) had a bunch of additional mobs. Any chance we will see anything like this in the future. Alternatively, are there any mods out there that add new mods, but also integrate well into Tekkit Lite?

Some Infos about the new Tekkit Lite version?
Timendainum replied to Imbakochtopf's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
I believe there have been other threads which indicate that things are not stable, therefore the omission of some mods should not be taken as the final list. Also, this is Tekkit, not Tekkit Lite which you have linked to. I am hopeful there will be an upgrade path from Tekkit Lite as it seems like most of the mods are the same. Or possibly will Tekkit Lite be reintegrated into the "Tekkit" brand. Time will tell I'm sure. -
Put a bat box very close to the solar panels.

Removing dug 64x64 quarries in my server. Best way?

Do your quarrying in Myst ages. -
Getting Logistics Pipes to work with Barrels and Routers.
Timendainum replied to Gio²'s topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
You don't really need to sort items with logistics pipes. They kinda sort themselves. The way I set mine up before I switched to Applied Energistics (which is awesome by the way) we had a big sorting buffer with an item sink set to default mode. Then a quick sort module that would feed everything into the Deep Storage units with item sinks in them. We had some polymorphic item sink chests. But, honestly. Applied Energistics makes all of this much easier. -
There is a block that will filter water (any any other liquid). It took me forever to find it, and off the top of my head I can't remember what it was. But, it was something like Liquid Controller. Or something. It's simple to use. You put a bucket of the liquid you want to filter in color inventory slots. Works like a charm. We use it in our oil input to filter out water into a void pipe.

You should be able to put a dimensional anchor or chicken chunk loader near the mob spawner and keep those guys pouring out.
-
Well that is disappointing. Sounds like we should wait a while longer and see if this issue can be sorted out. Thanks all for your input.
-
What sort of issues are you having with dimensional doors? We love the mod. If it's minor annoyances we could deal with it.

I love Tekkit Lite. I have a small server with friends, and we love the mod pack. (Thanks Team!) But, we really do miss the Bukkit plugins. Especially Dynmap. There are a few threads on the forum regarding using DynMap, but I still haven't been able to find a tutorial that really boils it down to what I need to do. We do use MystCraft, and Dimension Doors (and everything else), and I don't want to get rid of these. Considering this, are my hopes of being able to implement this crushed? If not, can anyone point me to a tutorial that will get us up and running? Thanks!

I'm not sure this is awesome yet...
Timendainum replied to SemiPr0's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
We are looking at AE. It looks very cool, but we already have a large logistics pipes network. Have you tried working with these together? There is a block,ME Interface I believe is supposed to handle this. I'm working on setting up a lab but any pointers would be great. -

Timendainum replied to SemiPr0's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
To point 1, I like EE. I understand it's a prerelease, but I think dropping it completely would be a detriment. Totally agree on point 2, and furthermore not having access to Bukkit mods is terrible. I'm not a modder, and I'm sure there are lots of complex reasons why it is difficult to include, but things like essentials, are well.. essential. Also Dynmap. Holy crap living with out that has been terrible. Disagree with point 3. I love the overlapping mods. I love the way we can approach things in a different fashion based on what we're trying to do, and what resources we currently have available. With point 4, I'd add that we'd love to seem more variation added as well. How about adding some mods that include new mobs? Everyone plays mods on MC because Mojang is so painfully slow at doing anything. Please include some of the things Mojang should have been doing all along. Why there isn't 100+ different mobs in MC now is staggering. Tekkit classics was a pain. We ran a server for a long time, and once we started to get things going it choked. Plus the upgrade paths were painful and often resulted in world destruction. For a mod pack, the most important to bring to the table is consistency, upgrade-ability and a long term run. Our group of player started using Tekkit because we were sick and tired of restarting worlds because our custom mod pack was too difficult to maintain. Keep up the good work guys. I can't wait to see what future growth comes out of Tekkit Lite -
Is there anything tricky I need to be concerned about if I upgrade my server to 0.6.2? I've got some customized config files, nothing serious. Will just replacing the existing mod files, minus the config files work? Were any key config file changed that I need to preserve? Thanks! Timendainum
