  1. No, the kinetic generator is completely useless now. It generates so much heat, and the heat generation does not adjust with the slider. You can adjust it in the configuration. I'd just skip using it until some balance is applied to the new heat mechanic. Put a solar panel on your head, stay outside a lot. Energy management seems possible at that point. That being said, there are 2 units I have yet to try out, the cooling system, and the system that converts heat into energy. Maybe those will offset the outrageous heat generated by the kinetic generator. There are no effective ways to charge your armor in game as the charging benches where part of an IC2 add on. There is the energy infuser (if that is what its called). But at max it holds 45KMJ with a max throughput of 250 a tick. When it's pretty easy to get 10 million or more MJ in your armor you could be waiting upwards of 30 minutes to charge your armor. I highly doubt that this block will ever change, King Lemming has already said multiple times on this forum that he believes that the energy infuser is more than sufficient. Hopefully someone else will come along and fill this hole. I really would like to see something like the block in tekkit lite that would charge everything you had on you just by being near the block. You could even set this block up next to an ender chest, and take your armor off and dump it in the chest to be recharged if you were a long ways from home. It was awesome. Also you could build automatic min shard farming machines using this block to recharge a rail gun. But, this is something else that is not possible in the new tekkit.
  2. I'm pretty sure the number of mods isn't the only factor here. Tekkit lite has more mods, but yet loads WAY faster. I expect that things like Galiticraft add a lot of resources which chew up loading time.
  3. Is there a legitimate reason to use himachi other than to run a cracked version of minecraft?
  4. I can do the logic I want to with the PRC, but I cannot display cool info on the super control room monitor of monitoring. And I mean com'on, who doesn't want a super control room monitor of monitoring (SCRMM)?
  5. Seems like the bundled cable API doesn't work for RedNet cables. Is there another API need to look at? Or is this not implemented yet?
  6. Are we forgetting about Steve's Minecarts 2? This pretty much replaces railcraft. Also, modular power armor.
  7. The machines to make crafting tesseracts automated is trivial to set up as well.
  8. In both tekkit lite and now in tekkit this has been the behavior I have seen. I assumed it was by design, since the single use one is for single use.
  9. It might still be the night vision. I've noted some problems with night vision not turning off properly at times. It stays on for a minute or two, then maybe pops off. I do know that CanVox has confirmed that there is an issue with night vision in dimensions. Which I believe the moon is technically a dimension.
  10. I figured this would be the case. No worries. We can wait until the next Tekkit update.
  11. The crafting/item retrieval bug in the version of AE that is in Tekkit 1.0.6 is getting more annoying as our AE system gets ramped up. Anyone have any idea if it's safe to manually update to the latest AE server side? The fix is in rv10.m http://ae-mod.info/Change-Log/ Item #2 My concern here is that even if I update server side, I might cause more problems because clients will not be updated to the same version. I'm concerned this may cause worse problems. Has anyone tried this with any success or failure?
  12. I just wanted to throw out there that last night while working on our first full sized new Tekkit combustion engine power station I got the opportunity to use the new RedNet cables a bit more. WOW. Talk about an advancement over the RP2 cables. Firstly, they are far cheaper. Easier to make (especially with AE). The way the channels are dealt with is amazing. Good job guys, glad this is in the pack.
  13. Sounds to me like you and I are agreeing. The fun part of the build here is setting up the automation system. Which is sounds like you are on board with. I just want to make sure the point was made that you don't need to make things annoying to keep them balanced. Let me automate my engines. I will agree with you that solar panels were OP. Honestly I liked the reactors a lot better.
  14. Tekkit is a technical mod. Who's primary focus is on automation. Forcing players to babysit things because they explode, freeze up whatever is counter to the point of automation. It's also not fun. BC conductive pipes are the perfect example of this. If you have a distribution network for power, and one of the outs is to a pump, and the pump runs out of oil the conductive pipes would explode in seconds after the oil pump was done. Having my pipe explode 3 seconds after the pump is done, because suddenly there was a power surplus is not automated, and it wasn't fun at all. Now, in this particular case the redstone energy conduits totally solve this problem, but the point remains. Don't put in artificial caps, explosion points, and maintenance just because you don't want to hand out free power or whatever. Remember, we all play Tekkit because we HATE having to mine diamonds for hours and hours and hours on end, and we'd rather spend out time _building_ something cool and fun, rather than grinding boring and repetitive tasks.. When you add an annoying mechanic like exploding or freezing up it is not balancing. It's just annoying, and just a distraction from the fun. That being said, I have no issue with combustion engines, we have several fully automated engine stacks, which all we have to do is check for oil.
  15. Fly out there an get him!!! It's a rescue mission!! If you can get out there, use the dimension doors mod to make a 2 way doorway back and forth.
  16. I believe the phased pipes may be bugged in the current version. In the meantime use liquid tesseracts. They are far better anyways. Also, use liquiducts instead of waterproof pipe. You will like the results.
  17. Tools, jetpack, shock absorbers, flight control are first grabs. Next usually comes solar panels. Then... shields!!
  18. Oh, my bad, I see you are taking the output directly from the pump, not from a tank. It should flow out of the pump by itself. We usually just plop a liquid tesseract next to the pump, and an energy tesseract. And let em run!
  19. You need to set the liquiduct to output mode using the wrench. Then supply it with redstone power and it will output (and very fast). The Liquiducts are great once you get to know how they work.
  20. The loss for tesseracts and conduits are adjustable as well if the loss is too much. We turned the loss factors down on our server to encourage people to use the conduits/tesseracts as opposed to the pipes as they are much better on the server than the pipes.
  21. How is this even related to Tekkit, how does even belong on this forum?
  22. I think you're missing the difference between Tekkit, and Tekkit Lite. Tekkit, the new version, is for 1.5.1. It can be found here: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit Tekkit Lite, a slightly older mod, uses 1.4.7. But, using the launcher, none of this matters, as you do not use Minecraft out of the box for either. You just use the Technic Pack launcher. Tekkit Lite can be found here: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit-lite The launcher download is on this page: http://www.technicpack.net/
  23. Tekkit lite is only available for 1.4.7. You must use the Technic launcher and the server version provided in the download link.
  24. Computercraft is a good workaround for now. But a single block wireless option would be far better.
