I'm sorry I don't have better news... but I run both of these plugins without issue... What version of each of them are you using?

Teach people about loops, how to avoid them, and the impact they have on the server. Your "LAG" issues are far more likely to come from CPU or I/O bottlenecking, than a lack of RAM, there are plenty of servers that have 16-32GB of RAM 50 players and <5TPS. Make sure you have a good staff team who know about this stuff (if they dont, teach them) and get them to look out for things like large collector arrays, duped items (having 200+ HV solar arrays is a pretty good sign someone is duping or using creative mode to get items. (In reality 10 HV Solar is all most players will be bothered to actually make, and is all you actually need to provide enough power for whatever crazy scheme you have planned) (If you can't achieve what you want with over 102,000EU a second... chances are your probably doing it wrong ;-) ) Teach users about painting cables, wires and tubes to avoid looping EU, RedPower, Items etc... while still maintaining a compact setup. To put what I am saying in perspective: I actively enforced this by regularly logging into my servers and checking for this sort of thing, teaching users about how to create their dream setups without lagging out the server by doing exactly what I just said. I went to my Girlfriends for Christmas, and checked back in today. Here is the comparison for one of them: I left on the 10th of December. - Server TPS: 19-20, Online players: 18-20 I checked in today (26th December) - Server TPS: 6-10, Online players: 11-16

I will go as far as to agree op'ing fake players is lazy... but in the case of factions, it only allows quarries and things like that to be used in the wilderness... OP'd or not unless you specifically configure factions to allow the quarry to work in claimed land, it will only work in the Wilderness.

New Tekkit Server Needs[Builders][Mods][Admins]

Hi slayer1189, Okay, but it sounds to me like you were looking for someone (for example... me lol) who already has all that experience. (Sometimes I really wish this forum auto-posted signatures... Because if you had seen my signature, all this would have become immediately apparent.) -
Okay, Again lol... I could use some help with this... I am getting a lot of "[Multicraft] Failed to calculate resource usage" even when I have set the min and max memory for each server.
-
If your looking to use things like quarries inside of claimed land, there's no way as far as I know to do it. because you can't differentiate between a quarry placed by a member of that faction, or a totally different faction. Oping the fake player will allow the mod to use things in the Wilderness. (aka land not claimed for any other purpose.)

New Tekkit Server Needs[Builders][Mods][Admins]

Just before I "apply" is this a job, or a game? Are you planning to pay me for essentially running your server for you? Nice specs by the way... but your HDD lets you down a little... for something that small you'd be better off with an SSD. -
Actually it was ;-) made me double check file permissions. So thanks, that's 1 issue sorted.... Only trouble is... now my error is: [Multicraft] Failed to calculate resource usage Lol... guess Multicraft really doesn't like me... UPDATE: Solved... seems MultiCraft requires a minimum RAM allocation. I am slightly lost with this though: 19.12 10:08:11 [server] WARNING Perhaps a server is already running on that port? 19.12 10:08:11 [server] WARNING The exception was: java.net.BindException: Cannot assign requested address 19.12 10:08:11 [server] WARNING **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT! 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Starting Minecraft server on 192.198.80.179:25566 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Loading properties 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO NetherOres: loaded Macerator Recipes 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Initializing alchemy values for Equivalent Exchange.. 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO CONFLICT @ -48 item slot already occupied by dan200.computer.shared.ItemPeripheral@49336bd while adding net.minecraft.server.ItemBlock@5ceeb4a3 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO ComputerCraft: RedPowerLib and methods located. 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO ComputerCraft: Searching for RedPowerLib... 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO CONFLICT @ -49 item slot already occupied by dan200.computer.shared.ItemComputer@616ef019 while adding net.minecraft.server.ItemBlock@3a552b48 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO ComputerCraft: diskItemID 4000 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO ComputerCraft: diskDriveBlockID 208 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO ComputerCraft: computerBlockID 207 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Loading ComputerCraft: To change block IDs, modify config/mod_ComputerCraft.cfg 19.12 10:08:11 [server] WARNING Configuration for mod_ComputerCraft.enableAPI_http found value 0 outside acceptable range 4.9E-324,1.7976931348623157E308 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Properties file read succesfully! 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO MinecraftForge v3.3.8.152 Initialized 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO MinecraftForge v3.3.8.152 Initialized 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Forge Mod Loader has loaded 35 mods 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Directory weaponmod contained no mods 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Loading mods from /mods 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Forge Mod Loader version 2.2.91.1 for Minecraft 1.2.5 loading 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Completed early MinecraftForge initialization 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Attempting early MinecraftForge initialization 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO Starting minecraft server version 1.2.5 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO 27 achievements 19.12 10:08:11 [server] INFO 182 recipes 19.12 10:08:10 [Multicraft] Loaded config for "Mod: Craftbukkit" 19.12 10:08:10 [Multicraft] Starting server! 19.12 10:08:10 [Multicraft] Loading server properties Why is it finally checking to see if the port is available half way through the mod load? Not really sure this is a minecraft or tekkit issue... Seems more likely to me that you have some insecure settings with Multicraft and FTP etc.. I'd work on securing your usernames and passwords for FTP/Multicraft, then worry about fixing your server. As far as fixing the server goes... If you haven't been taking regular backups you may have little choice but to start it fresh. Sorry! Assuming your World files are still intact, you could possibly just drop in some clean mods and see how you go from there.

Just setting up my new server with Multicraft... Only trouble is no matter what I do for the configuration file I always get: 19.12 08:15:45 [Multicraft] Server stopped 19.12 08:15:45 [Multicraft] Failed to adapt server configuration 19.12 08:15:45 [Multicraft] Loaded config for "Mod: Craftbukkit" 19.12 08:15:45 [Multicraft] Starting server! 19.12 08:15:45 [Multicraft] Loading server properties 19.12 08:15:45 [Multicraft] Received start command 19.12 07:59:03 [Multicraft] Loading server properties 19.12 07:59:03 [Multicraft] Loading server properties Does anyone have any experience with using Tekkit and/or Feed the Beast with Multicraft and could possibly provide me with a working configuration?

Most of us here are server owners, and have hosted servers. Very few of us have a good enough internet connection to homehost, so you aren't alone. Some people like myself might be willing to host your server for you provided you meet a few minor conditions. Feel free to PM me if your interested... but paying for your own hosting service is usually your best option.

Check players machine builds, look for things like power/redstone loops, large timers, failing forcefields, huge arrays of collectors.

I see... you could try using LWC with Factions Integration enabled. -
Will upgrading RAM improve server performance?
Djinnii replied to Brad387's topic in Server Op Swap Shop
You can trim down your OS to say Win7 basic or CentOS or Ubuntu. Make sure you only run things you actually need. Short of that you would need either a new computer to use, or a new computer to host. your laptop would be perfectly capable of hosting a minecraft server, if its dedicated to doing just that. -

Hi, I think we figured as much about the internet connection. It's still 50times better than I can get here Sorry, but your CPU will be your bottleneck here. the only thing I can really suggest is that you buy yourself a new machine to use everyday and just run the laptop as a server. (as long as it's properly ventilated, there shouldn't be any problems.) You could also try putting a lighter OS on it, if you don't need to use it for everyday stuff, CentOS or something similar. -

Djinnii replied to Brad387's topic in Server Op Swap Shop
If you are playing on the same machine you are hosting the server from with those specs you will see some performance degradation. That looks to me like a fairly old piece of kit, you might be better served sticking it in a closet somewhere to host your files and server stuff off and getting yourself a proper everyday machine. You *MIGHT* see a performance increase by upping the RAM, but I think it more likely that you are running into a bottleneck with your CPU and HDD. Wish I could get those speeds I could run all my servers from home.... I have run a pretty lag free server on only 512mb of allocated RAM to Tekkit Try using Spigot MCPC: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/36903976/Spigot/craftbukkit-1.2.5-R4.1-MCPC-SNAPSHOT.jar (Simply replace your own current jar file with one) -
Mysli, That's not what im saying at all... I would like make use of this. I just want to be sure it still works as advertised given how many changes minecraft has gone through since it was last updated.

Mysli0210, I appricate your efforts, but are we sure this is still valid and working? After it it was last edited by Therawroy Aug 23, 2011.

You did setup the votifier properly with the voting site right? give it the correct public.key and port to connect to?

I see.... I just put the program in "startup" rather than try and run another program from it. I'd also tend to test it using "reboot" to save having to unload the chunk etc... p.s. in your post I do believe your missing a );

Slowly getting my server in shape, one big challenge.
Djinnii replied to nateedubs's topic in Server Op Swap Shop
If I remember correctly the Deveopler did make a post somewhere saying to use 0.96 as the newer 1.x wasn't quite ready or something like that. -
Your doing something wrong. Sorry. But you shouldn't need to use chunk loaders with computercraft.
-
if the program is named startup it will load that program everytime the chunk is loaded. I had a similar setup with my own rules/banneditems not too long ago.
