Probably a good idea to only allocate 30G of RAM to the minecraft server. Java isn't very good at staying within it's allocated limits. You also need to allow some RAM for the OS and other applications, not to mention do you really need that much RAM for MC anyway? Have a look around your world, keep an eye out for large solar arrays and poorly designed factories leaking items. Make sure you paint cables, tubes and wires so that EU, Items and redstone signals go where you want them to and round and round in loops eating up processing time while not actually doing anything. Check your world for large amounts of flowing water/lava this again creates more load on the server making it process the flow of the fluid each tick. Check for Wireless Redstone usage, I've found that players can easily lagg out a server using this. Double check for things like world anchors (pretty easy since it says how many world anchors are loaded at startup) - anchor carts, dimensional anchors and teleport tethers(these should be banned anyway since they do squat) I'd be inclined to remove some plugins too, for example, you don't need ChatManager, Essentials does it, so assuming your already using Essentials for something else, there's no need to have both. What control panel do you use if any? If MCMyAdmin or MultiCraft, or other similar CP chances are you can schedule events like announcements and restarts through that instead of needing a plugin to do it. What does Welcome Rulezz do? Would the Essentials Welcome message do the same job? Who has access to SuperPickaxe? If the same as WorldEdit, you only need WorldEdit. What does SimpleCommandSigns do? Does Essentials do it too? Can you not achieve the same thing as OpenInv through Essentials Invsee? Do you really need serverlog saver? doesn't minecraft do this by default? If you wanted you could write a script (Or I think MCMyAdmin even allows for it) to "rotate" your server.log so that a new log file is used each time the server is started to prevent the log file getting too large and creating issues of its own. Do you really need "Laggmeter"? I'm fairly sure essentials has a /lag command to allow you to check the number of entities and the TPS of the server etc... You really dont want "NoLagg" try using CB++ build 75 or Spigot instead. They're much better. What actual CPU are you using? (Theres a big difference between an i5-2400 and an E5630 running at those clock speeds)

No offense Jeff.. but sounds like your wasting ALOT of money.

Modify world config and nodes with items banned?
Djinnii replied to Graziservers's topic in Server Op Swap Shop
Only thing I can think of is TekkitRestricts feature to discharge EE items in the safezone. I could imagine that banning the item would become very annoying very fast... "Player walks into safezone, Player looses Red Katar, Gem Armour, TNT, etc... Player RageQuits" -
find plugin on bukkitdev, download plugin version compatible with MC 1.2.5 - R4 drop plugin.jar into your minecraft/plugins directory start server.
-
PEX works perfectly fine with Tekkit, Chances are its your ChatManager plugin clashing with EssentialsChat.

Mind PM'ing me your server details so I can test it?

Wondering if anyone can help me with this error: 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] java.lang.Exception 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.Chunk.a(Chunk.java:676) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.Chunk.a(Chunk.java:650) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkRegionLoader.a(ChunkRegionLoader.java:296) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkRegionLoader.a(ChunkRegionLoader.java:64) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkRegionLoader.a(ChunkRegionLoader.java:53) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkProviderServer.loadChunk(ChunkProviderServer.java:141) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkProviderServer.getChunkAt(ChunkProviderServer.java:84) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.a(MinecraftServer.java:349) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.init(MinecraftServer.java:198) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:428) 2012-12-09 12:08:57 [sEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:492) All I can work out is that there was an error loading a chunk or possibly a chunk loader... as to which one how why... is beyond me.

You need to change your Tekkit client version from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 as for the client, the Recommended build is still 3.1.2
-
which bukkit version does tekkit 1.3.2 run?
Djinnii replied to JRFisher's topic in Server Op Swap Shop
Tekkit 1.3 currently runs on MineCraft 1.2.5 and corresponding versions of Bukkit/Craftbukkit. Namely Craftbukkit 1.2.5-R4 -
Is that the actual server.log? Looks to me like its one provided by your hosting provider as a readout of the console.

Lol, I could have put money on that answer. Unfortunately I have had to rule out Gorilla due to its unfavorable geographic location. Which is a shame, because I do really like what they have to offer. I don't suppose you know if they have any plans to move a bit closer to the East Coast or Europe? So far looking like OVH is a good bet. Although I've yet to hear back from their pre-sales team.

Factions with tekkit items (Looking for developer)
Djinnii replied to jack isherwood's topic in Server Op Swap Shop
Umm... that's half the point of Factions. If you don't like it, use Towny or WorldGuard. Players start with 10 power, player joins a faction, 1 faction kills another factions members to make that faction loose power, the other faction no longer has enough power to maintain control of their claimed land. The other factions may now claim it. This is how faction wars work. It's one of the primary purposes of the plugin. -
Sorry Ralsha, I've not had much luck with this. So I won't be much help lol.
-
TekkitCustomizer must always have a "banned" item in every "block", else it will revert to default. (bad plugin coding but there you go) You should also refrain from giving the permission tekkitcustomizer.* to any rank.
-
I've not had much luck with serverside cfg files. I can edit them all I want and they still do whatever the default is.

Oh I know about the IPv4 issue, But isn't that why IPv6 was created? I thought half the point of IPv6 is that there would be enough address spacing to individually address every man, woman, cat, dog, child, and kitchen appliance. Which is why I'm saying, why should we have to pay for an IPv6 address when there is already more than enough address spacing to at top level give blocks of them to every single individual on the planet. And Grazi, thanks, but I already looked at limestone networks, since its where most other minecraft hosting providers seem to get their equipment. But they are too expensive for me.
-
Well slightly refreshing to know I've already looked at 3 of those 7. And you know... from the looks of it OVH dont actually sell servers in England... France and the US from the ones I'm looking at. I do kinda like the Gorilla servers IPMI idea though. Really starting to wish I'd paid more attention in class to what the /26, /27, /28 IP address spacing means. (On the other note... is there any particular reason we should have to pay for an IPv6 address? it's not like there's ever going to be a shortage of them...)
-
That OVH looks bloody nice! + 30day trial! Shame they charge so much for KVMoIP
-
what are the 5 more?
-
You got a copy of the server log you can paste (use pastie or pastebin or something)
-
I think as everyone here has pointed out, The IP address' of any individuals has little to do with it, it doesn't help anyone in any way, nor does it actually make any difference to any of the people who were using the IP address at the time the offense took place to get them banned from the OP's server (or anyone elses who posted names and/or IP's) The fact of the matter is, even if you were to lookup those IP's now there's a very slim chance that they still correspond to the same individuals. So it doesn't make much difference, anyone using them would only be banning innocent people from their server. Although the whole idea of "Protecting peoples privacy" though not posting IP's is pointless.

You still ahve the same problem. The reason that MC and other MMO's aren't fully multi-threaded is that quite often a number of events and operations have to happen in sequence, there's no way you can force an application to run multi-threaded if it wasnt designed for it without creating errors. Usually fatal ones.

Funnily enough I use TekkitRestrict to restrict RP Timers to 1.1s. lol.

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my current 3 VPS server profile to a (current) single dedicated machine. After looking around for the best part of two weeks, I've noticed that the prices, specs and customer service/support are all over the place. I've literally found hundreds of results, with the same hard specification ranging in price bands from £50 to £180 per month! I would like to know your opinions on hosting providers you have ad experience with. I'm not looking for vague "I've heard good things about "x" company. P.S: I am a very happy CreeperHost customer, the only reason I am looking elsewhere is that they currently cannot provide me with the hardware specification I am looking for. I am looking for something similar to: E3-1270 Quad Core @ 3.50GHz 16GB RAM 60 - 120GB SSD (- Primary drive for Minecraft) 250 - 500GB HDD (- Backups and webservices and other non-intensive applications like teamspeak/mumble etc...) 100mbps/1gbps port On it I would be looking to run 8 to 10 minecraft (bukkit, tekkit, FTB) servers, a web server, an email server and 1 or 2 voice servers. I don't really care where in the world the server is located or what currency I have to pay in as long as I have a decent connection/latency. For reference I live in the South of England. Ideally I would also be looking for some inclusion of a half decent game panel, like Multicraft or McMyAdmin or even a custom one, as long as it's available to all installations.

It all depends what you plan to use it for, how many players/slots you want and what you want to be able to do. I would highly recommend a VPS service like the one CreeperHostoffers, otherwise you will find yourself missing a good deal of the control you have gotten used to. I personally use CreeperHost and have done so for about 4 months now, to the extent I now actually have three VPS's from them to host both my Tekkit servers and Feed the Beast server. They have amazing staff and actually take the time to communicate with the customer. At the moment they are currently looking at running an IRC server specifically to streamline real-time communication. The control panel can install a MySQL server on your VPS for a small one off fee, or you can freely install it yourself. They put no limitations on what you can or cannot have on your VPS. I currently have 1 of my VPS's running Tekkit, my website and my MySQL server. Some pro's: Great Staff, Great Service, No Lagg, Good choice of server locations, Great Control Panel, Good range of options to control your server, (You can connect via FTP, SFTP, SCP, SSH and HTTPS), Useful applications to download so you can see and use your server console on your home PC like you can normally when hosting it at home. Useful API you can use to dynamically update your website, or even create your own Control Panel. Great Backup/Restore service from the control panel, It even allows you to perform Remote Backups to one of their secured off-site servers in case of "catastrophic failure" They are constantly upgrading their control panel and hardware to get better performance. They actually listen to their customers. (I have asked for 3 "new" features, all of which were added to their system within 12hours of the suggestion at no cost.) Some con's: Each VPS is initially limited to 30GB local storage (although you can usually negotiate for more) Mod Edit: Links removed.
