Unpleasant News For The Future Of Tekkit
NightKev replied to jakj's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
What? The source code for CraftBukkit/etc is right here on GitHub and is licensed under the LGPLv3. -
The Aether mod is a standalone mod though (like Bitchin' Thread Weaving), so that would kind of defeat the entire purpose.
-
That doesn't sound very fun to me.
-
Probably the Archangel's Smite from EE2, otherwise the Mining Laser from IC2 if EE is disabled.
-
It's not really a metaphor... Just replace "features" with "code that destroys users' data/etc".

The GreenWolf Report: Report 7: Minecraft Update 1.4.2
NightKev replied to GreenWolf13's topic in Cafe Lame
So are you saying all your "reports" are useless, then? They can all be distilled into "I like/dislike X" in the same fashion you describe, so what's the difference then? -
The GreenWolf Report: Report 7: Minecraft Update 1.4.2

That's not what I meant. All you did was post a (condensed) changelog, and nothing else. No comments or opinions on anything, etc. -
The GreenWolf Report: Report 7: Minecraft Update 1.4.2

I don't think posting a condensed changelog counts as a "report". (Also, oh man alliteration!) -
Is "not Minecraft" a valid choice?
-
Unless you can find a statement from Alblaka where he says he's rescinding his support of the Technic pack, I doubt it'll be a problem. Edit: Almost forgot, there's also this: http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=7994 So, still, doubt it'll be an issue.

Considering MultiMC doesn't even alter Minecraft at all, you've obviously done something wrong. Also, the "don't always force update" vanilla launcher has existed since Beta 1.3, have people REALLY still been using the old one?

Why can't I connect to my server through FTP?
NightKev replied to Hotelmariofan's topic in Cafe Lame
Uh, a Tekkit server isn't an FTP server, are you actually running one on that PC? By the sounds of it (trying to use port 25565? that's the Minecraft server port), you don't. FTP isn't magic, you have to actually run an FTP server in order to connect to it with an FTP client. -
My system (Windows 7 x64 Pro) is filled with a billion symlinks all over the place and I haven't had any problems. Maybe on XP it was a problem but they seem to have gotten their shit together for Win7. Also, Radeon HD 5830 here.

Now all they need to do is add in Redpower wiring/logic. :)
-
Of course it would be, since they have all this experience to draw on now. As shown by Dinnerbone's attempt to fix the mess that is the Minecraft codebase, they NEED to massively overhaul the code and release a "Minecraft 1.0 2.0" instead of wasting time adding a bunch of mostly useless features (and a couple of good ones).
-
Here's all Dinnerbone's twitter posts about it, in order (I think):

The GreenWolf Report: Report 6: Interview with Jakj
NightKev replied to GreenWolf13's topic in Cafe Lame
They'd probably die if they posted on-topic in a thread. -
Still, as jakj said, having 15Mb/s of bandwidth but a 20GB cap? That's insane, and I doubt such a plan exists anywhere.
-
I think this might be the wrong forum to post this in (you probably want General Tekkit SMP). Regardless, why wouldn't they be given creative to make it? How are you supposed to build something without materials? Edit: Ah, I suppose I should ask, how will payment be rendered? Paypal?
-
He already said he's not the one hosting the server, it's him playing on the server that is the problem... Anyway, as Torezu said, your only solution is to play less, basically.
-
I have never seen a forum this dedicated to derailing topics before. It is truly an achievement.

7zip is (legitimately) free, and open source. It supports more formats. This makes it better than winrar. So wait, what? Which file is doing what exactly?
-
Try running the batch file that starts the server with admin privileges.

Open the command prompt (Start -> "cmd.exe" or Windows Key + R -> "cmd.exe"), and tell us the output of "java -version". Next, assuming it works normally and you get something like "java version 1.7.0_05"/etc, navigate to "C:\Users\<username>\Desktop\Tekkit_Server_3.1.2" and tell us what happens when you run "java -jar Tekkit.jar".
