Hello, mac users! We recently pushed a new version of the launcher that auto-installs a newer version of LWJGL. This is a great thing, because it means mac users can finally run java 7! Wow! Unfortunately, it turns out mac users of a particular intel integrated graphics card are seeing upside-down graphics for this version of LWJGL. The LWJGL guys found this out recently and have an experimental build up with a fix, so this will be dealt with soon, however! Here is a workaround: if you mess with your fullscreen graphics settings in the video options menu, there's usually an option that will get your game right-side-up so you can play. Try it out!

Yes, it will. :\ I'm going to get some stuff together about how you can save some of your items at least. IC2 and RP2 will be coming out of the pack for good, also.
-
I'm not sure- it will probably come back in just because it's Big Dig, but this long delay is making me think twice, especially since it's a mod that gets deactivated a lot by server owners.
-
Yeah, IC2 and RP2 are just dead now for our packs across the board. To be honest, Mystcraft and Computer Craft have been our big blockers so far. But because people are gonna have to start new maps due to RP2/IC2 anyway, I decided to go ahead without Mystcraft. CC released a couple days ago.

I'll probably be fielding questions and support requests about the new 1.5.2 version of Big Dig, which will be released that morning.
-
If you have really general questions, they can go in here for now, but ideally, the wiki itself is the place to discuss the wiki.
-
We'll post it more prominently when it's more complete. :)

Can you pastebin the latest file in the .technic/logs folder for me?

WELL TODAY'S NOT MONDAY.

You aren't listening, and it's very frustrating to read this thread- both Teraku and the error message have told you what to do. The error message has told you that the scala-library.jar inside the lib folder isn't the one it wants. So delete it.
-
Hello here's something that's not bullshits: You get this error when your virus scanner prevents scala-library.jar from being written to your hard drive during startup. You can fix it by temporarily disabling your virus scan the first time you start up tekkit.

Some of you may be aware that this weekend is Memorial Day in America and some of you may have plans. For the rest of you, though, how's a little Big Dig sound?

tekkit crashes after mojang with crash report pls help
CanVox replied to wei0223's topic in Tekkit Discussion
There is a lot wrong here- your computer is capable of handling java 7, the latest version of which is 1.7.0_21. However, even if you decide to stay with java 6, the latest version is 1.6.0_45, which is way past your current version. It looks like you don't have the config files that come with tekkit. I'm not sure how you managed to screw this up, but you should be able to fix it by either A) Click the cogwheel under the tekkit icon in your launcher, click the "reset pack" button then "save" then launch Tekkit. If that doesn't work, delete your .technic\tekkitmain folder and start over agani. -
Sometimes the launcher gets jammed up after downloading everything. I've found that deleting the cache folder in .technic/tekkitmain works ok.

Idunno about advertising packs in here, but I definitely encourage everyone who misses Voltz to check out the Technic Platform: there's quite a few packs that you may find fills the hole left behind by Voltz.
-
There's a mod in development called Big Reactors that's right up your alley, I think, but it's a month or two from being ready to put in a pack.

I hear ya'll nerds are in here using the internet. Sometimes daily! Fuckin nerds.

Well, it was Covert Jaguar who said that, rather than Slowpoke. And you never know what kind of baggage individuals bring into stuff like that, so it could just be that that's CJ's motivation rather than anyone involved with FtB. I also agree with Neowulf that these sorts of what-if games are pointless. I certainly don't think anyone involved with FtB would be doing a lot of stuff with modpacks without any prompting (remember, Direwolf, Slowpoke, etc. used to be rather anti-modpack in general, on the basis that anyone who couldn't install mods manually was too dumb to minecraft). But if not for us, there would be others, I think. It's pointless to play It's A Wonderful Life, and try to guess what would be happening in a community without Technic, because Technic has changed the community a lot with its presence. Things and people would be very different. Who knows, maybe Covert Jaguar would have put together some sort of pack with Railcraft and all the mods he added compatibiity to back in the day (which even back then, was a lot), and things would take off from there, with CJ being the one dragging the community kicking and screaming into the future. You never really know.

I want to write more about this when I can have time to put what I'm thinking about into words. What it comes down to is that I think everyone's aware that Voltz has for a long time been sort of the unwanted stepchild of the Technic family- it's been consistently buggy in a way that we wouldn't put up with for Tekkit, and has been this weird beta-testing ground for UE in a way that I think looks and runs kind of bad at times. There've been a lot of reasons for this, but our goal right now is to take the headliner mods that we think have value from this pack (Mekanism, ICBM, MFFS, Atomic Science), give their authors the chance to turn them into mods that belong in a top-notch pack, and set aside Voltz for now. There's still room for what Voltz was trying to be, a highly cohesive pack with PVP elements, no automining or autocrafting, and a low mod count. It requires a level of quality that I don't think some of the mods in Voltz were capable of delivering, though, so we're setting it aside for now.

Well and we wouldn't mind seeing some tough competition come out of the platform itself. If FtB want to put their packs on the platform, advertise their packs hard, keep their own website, and use our launcher to push their stuff, that's great. If they become the highest-rated packs on the platform and we're advertising FtB on our front page, that's excellent. If they want to fork our launcher so there's like, a feed the beast launcher that loads their packs by default instead of ours but you can add platform packs to it, that's awesome too. That's the whole point of putting the tools in the hands of the people, more people can do what we're doing and get new great stuff out there. If FtB's attitude is, "our stuff is better than yours", we don't mind that. The only atittude I won't put up with is the old "oh modpacks are for idiots, screw modpacks make everything yourself by hand". So there's not really any animosity here, more packs is more better, and every pack that's competing with us just vindicates our position all along that getting prepacked mods into the hands of the masses lets everyone enjoy minecraft more. Nothing lasts forever, maybe one day another pack will bury us. The impact we've had on the way minecraft is played will outlive Technic, though, and that's the best part, and that's what the Platform is about.

Can anyone get the following working (or fixed?)
CanVox replied to dwfmagik's topic in Tekkit Discussion
You can't install the newest AP because it's 1.52. We made the "tekkit" edition of those fixes for 1.51 by doing some git jiggery pokery. It wasn't hard, per se, but it does require some knowledge of git and how to build additional pipes. We're waiting on mystcraft and computercraft to update to 1.52 and then a new version of tekkit will be out with everything. In the meantime, god, yes, use tesseracts. In fact, always use them. I'm not really clear on why you believe they're uniquely bad for SMP. -
You probably have nightvision on, probably from a powersuit. Nightvision... doesn't like dimensions.
-
You can deactivate respawning on the moon in the config file, but then beds don't work (and in fact, explode like in the nether). It's kind of a shitty situation that these are the only two options for minecraft dimensions. As for the idea that OF COURSE you need a fuel loader, I find that a bit silly. The fuel was already in the rocket ship, how'd it get out? Where'd the canister come from? I hope future versions have the fuel remain in the rocket ship after touchdown.
