  1. Mods are a valuable tool for Mojang as they help to foster a community and keep people interested in their game long after playing with virtual blocks gets old. So they allow them to exist and even help to foster them as in the end they make them more money as people will buy the game for the mods.
  2. Their will be still be a technic and a Tekkit I think, with technic still being focused on single player and tekkit on SMP. I have a feeling technic will focus on single player and small scale SMP. While Tekkit will remain focused on large scale SMP. In other words you would not want to make a 30+ user technic server unless your crazy, but a small 5 to 6 users server would be fine.
  3. Both would not be good as their is a very large amount of over lap between the two.
  4. Auto tree farms are easy with redpower frames/logic and their are countless other ways to make auto farms in tekkit. They just require a little bit of extra work and are not as simple as placing a single block to do it all for you.
  5. Yes nano only provides 10% more damage reduction than diamond armor so you will still take 10% of the normal damage. Also note that a fully enchanted suit of diamond armor is now better than nano in all areas other then durability with its 96% damage reduction and other effects. Nano used to provide 100% damage reduction equal to quantum, making you invincible as long as the armors charge holds out. This was far to over powered for how easy it is to make (2 and a half stacks of coal and 4 diamonds last time i checked) and charge so the IC2 dev made it weaker. So taking half a heart from a stone sword is fully expected. Armor damage reduction: Quantum suit - 100% Enchanted diamond armor - 89.6% to 96% Nano - 90% Redmatter/Gem armor - 90% Diamond armor - 80% Darkmatter armor - 80% Iron, bronze, leather, and gold are all below 80%
  6. They removed the mods for them as they are very laggy and cause issues. As for the machines disappearing, technic 7.2 requires that you make a new world as it is not compatible with old worlds. In other words if you load a old world in the latest version it will destroy your world.
  7. They nerfed the protection for nano as it used to be equal to quantum just with out the special abilities. So you can now die in it and no longer have cheap god mode.
  8. Its a trap, most likely a poorly done phishing attack or troll.
  9. Problem is the second you bring lawyers into the picture the whole minecraft mod community will crumble to dust. As all mods are technically illegal according to the minecraft terms of service.
  10. Mystcraft will be horrible in tekkit on any large server as it will kill your server if not tightly controlled. It is a awesome mod but it can be easily abused in SMP and is doesn't handle server hard drive space well. As each world you make takes up room until the server operator deletes it. As a small scale SSP mod or on small servers where you can trust everyone it makes sense but in large scale SMP it makes little sense.
  11. He is the co-dev for build craft a long with Krapht from logistic pipes.
  12. If only they worked in mystcraft lighting ages, you could have unlimited energy. Grant it with EE you can make it storm on demand but not sure if those storms count.

    lava moving?

if you want to pump it into a reservoir you want to use a redpower pump and pipes. BC pumps/tubes can only pump into tanks or machines and not into the world. The redpower pump system will pump source blocks from one location and fill another with them.
  14. We only have Immibis's Forcefields which is Thunder Dark's original MFFS mod that was picked up by another modder to maintain after he abandoned it. We do not have his new MFFS that he redesigned to make simpler and to better work with SMP. Also the change log that mentions that we have both is incorrect according to the dev working on tekkit. The good thing is that the version that Immibis is maintaining has a lot of features in it that Thunder Dark dropped from the mod when he redesigned it. Including the nuclear reactor controls and shields as well as a few other items.
  15. What the code did was make the bee system nearly impossible by greatly reducing the chances of breeding and altering the results of breeding. In addition it added a new bee line that all breeding was limited to which attacks the player and acts as powerful TNT. So your bees would try to kill you and explode making the whole bee system useless. I think he also did a few things in other areas of the mod to mess with technic users by slowly adding bugs/issues to the mod designed to only occur with the technic launcher. Which last time I checked he was doing so for awhile before he did the killer bee update but the changes were very subtle until that update. At no point did he tell the technic devs to remove his mod from the pack or even allow them to contact him about it.
  16. Its a long term bug with the minecraft world gen code that places sand and gravel. That causes floating sand/gravel that defy logic until they receive a block update. I think it is due to the fact that when it is placed by world gen or mcedit it treats it like dirt/stone until a block update occurs and it realizes that it should fall. As for what you mentioned the default tekkit server no longer comes with any plugins installed. As it only has the mods and nothing more to allow you to customize it how ever you want.
  17. Read this - http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/3-1-1-not-a-recommende-build.16120/ And this - http://www.technicpack.net/964/ It you look at the news post they clearly mention that 3.1.1 is the recommended build for servers and they are waiting one week to make the client recommended. This is being done to give servers more time to upgrade and to make sure it has no issues before everyone has to upgrade to it. They did the exact same thing for the release of tekkit 3 and it appears mostly normal for future releases.
  18. Don't forget to also remove energy condensers as well and possibly relays to block the many EMC generators that use them. This way their should be no way to automate your EMC generation to force you to do it the hard way and maintain equivalence. Grant it relays are not really bad as you can only charge K stars in them so you may be able to keep them as EE recyclers.
  19. Press it when he is not looking..... Great build, I'm currently planing a auto reactor plus breeder setup but I'm still in the very early phases.
  20. Delete the file on the server that contains that players EE info. Just be careful of what you delete as it can wipe out their EE bags as well. As for where it is located and the file name I am unsure as I am at work now with no access to my server.
  21. To make sure everyone upgrades their server and that every new server will be using the latest build. The facts are that you will need to upgrade the server any way and instead of forcing you to do it right away they are giving you a week to prepare. This way you have time for any needed testing and to inform your users of the upgrade.
  22. The server was a recommended build but the client was not as it was delayed a week to make sure their were no issues and to give servers time to upgrade. The only thing that being a recommended build means is that version will be the default that the launcher will use. What part of this are you finding so hard to understand as it is extremely clear.
  23. Here let me quote the news article that I linked too. They made it very clear that the client version was not a official recommended build yet and baring any issue it would be one in about a week. No where did it say you had to update your servers only that a new release version was available. This is exactly what they did for the release of tekkit 3 as they released the server about a week before the client became a official recommended build. So if you feel screwed it is all your fault for not reading the announcement and being blinded by all the new shines in the update. In fact the only ones that should feel screwed are the ones that choose now to setup their server or add a new one. As they have no choice but to download the latest release version (3.1.1) even thou its client is still not a recommended build.
  24. Which force field mod were you trying this with? I noticed that tekkit now has two force field mods. One by the original author of MFFS who recently remade his mod with SMP in mind and another by a different author who resurrected the original MFFS and renamed it to Immibis's Forcefields. The one that uses items that you craft and add to the projectors UI is the the true MFFS remake by the original author. Now the other one that uses blocks as upgrades and has more than one projector as well as the nuclear reactor shields would be Immibis's Forcefields. Which is a renamed and updated version of the original MFFS that was abandoned by its original author in favor of his redesign. I'm just wondering if it matters which force field mod you were using. Kinda odd that we have 2 mods for the same purpose that are mostly identical other than how they do things and a few features. It is like having both EE1 and 2 at the same time but I understand it as its dev removed a lot of features when he remade it.
  25. They did communicate and stated the reason very clearly as to why it is not a recommended build yet. The reason is simple, they wanted to make it a optional upgrade for about a week to make certain it is stable in the wild. Before forcing players and servers to upgrade to it in case their is a issue that they could not find. As hundreds to thousands of players can do a far better job at finding issues then the 5 devs behind tekkit can ever truly hope to find on their own. In addition they also get the benefit of giving servers more time to upgrade/inform their users about the upgrade. Which if done right can avoid a large amount of issues with players suddenly finding that they cannot connect to the server or other servers. The devs did the same thing with the tekkit 3 launch and most of the past versions. Here is the news post where they explained the reason: http://www.technicpack.net/964/
