  1. Why do people keep asking these questions? The technic devs rarely if ever share any info about future versions of the mod pack. We will not know anything about it until they release a dev version for their own testing. Until one shows up it is impossible to answer any questions about the future of the pack.
  2. They are still working on adding support for a lot of the things that bukkit had into forage so I would say work on the latest version of it. As I strongly doubt that their will be a tekkit/technic for 1.3 since it appears that a lot of the major mods are skipping it or are already on 1.4.
  3. Bukkit is a specialized minecraft server platform that allows the use of server side plugins to both control and protect the server. It basically expands the capabilities of the very limited default minecraft server by adding much needed features. Examples would be the worldguard plugin that allows you to lock down areas preventing other players from editing them. Craftbukkit is a special version of bukkit designed to support the use of mods in addition to the plugins. However due to issues inherit in bukkit mods need to be specially ported to work in this environment which is why most SMP mods have a special version for use with bukkit. Foragebukkit is a special version of forage designed to work with bukkit as the two normally conflict with one another since they edit and use the same files. Minecraft Forge is akin to mods as java is akin to minecraft, it is the magic that allows the mods to work. Basically it is designed to over come the limitations inherit in normal minecraft as well as allowing multiple mods to interact with one another. Examples would be the ore dictionary that allows mods to share the same ores aka copper, tin, and silver which other wise would require each mod to generate its own ores. FML is a part of forage that allows minecaft to load the mods directly from the mods folder instead of having to manually combine mods in the minecraft jar file your self.
  4. If I'm not mistaken I think the core of the lighting issues is that they are still using a very old version of openGL. Which is the true cause of a lot of the issues and limitations with the game along with its core engine. As it does not support advanced lighting which they are trying to hack into the game with out replacing the graphics engine. From what I've seen it appears Eloraam (redpower's dev) is trying to hack in a new updated graphics engine into the game or at least playing with one. Which will allow for true colored lights and better graphics all around.
  5. I know that EE3 will not be released for 1.3 and instead is going right to 1.4 as indicated by its dev. Also Thaumcraft 3 just hit a major snag requiring a large bit of code to be rewritten due to unintended world lag due to the aura system. - link So a very low chance of seeing them released before 1.4 from what i can tell and most likely the change from 1.3 to 1.4 will be like past updates and be mostly painless. So I doubt that we will see all the mods for 1.3 or at least enough to update tenhnic with out missing major mods.
  6. Do you have any protection plugins installed on the server which would prevent a player from destroying blocks? As those tend to mess with a lot of mods that need to break blocks. Which is why it is often not recommended to use them. As for wrong section and a bug report, you would be best served in the Tekkit forum and more info is needed to tell if it is a bug or server admin error.
  7. A better fix would be to ban a few of the UU mater recipes with one of the many bukkit plugins out there for banning crafting recipes. This way you could greatly limit or even remove the ability to build self sufficient machines such as the HV solar factory. For example ban the recipes for the items that you need to mine like tin, copper, and iron or if you don't value deserts ban the glass recipe. Another option would be to remove the coal recipe and replace it with one that makes charcoal via a custom recipe plugin. As well as making other adjustments as needed for your server since unlike power flowers UU matter is a lot easier to balance to your needs.
  8. I take it your using a energy link to power the quarry? Last time I checked if you apply a red stone signal to it the energy link powers off. As for the quarry still moving that is due to the quarry having a internal buffer of power. So if your redstone torches are any where near the energy link move them away or as Jorcer suggested replace them with levers.
  9. Its a known issue and if you look at the gravi suit thread the EE dev even posted in it about it I think. Its not going to get fixed until EE3 which will be a full re-write of the mod.
  10. The pack will contain mods that the devs like and work well together, same as ever. They do not take requests or demands in any way other than suggestions. Which they will only act upon if they themselves like the mod so it does not matter how often someone suggests a mod, if they do not like it they will not add it. Currently we have no info on if and when they will update or what will be in the updates. Also I would think it would be historically correct to say that they never responded to any questions like yours and probably will never do so. As they rarely if ever provide any info about future versions beyond the rare big ticket item like forestry.

    Their is a problem with a mystcraft train car or other wise mobile room as link books store the x,y,z cords of where they were created. In other words they will always send you to the exact same location no matter what. So you may be able to leave your train/airship via the mystcraft books from anywhere but returning would not be possible unless your train/airship was in the exact spot where you made the books. Just thought I would save you from a hilarious fall to your death by trying to return airship from a mystcraft age.

  14. I If you watch direwolf20s channel on youtube you will know that slowpoke in fact hosts the teamspeak that they all use on it. Which includes just about every mod author who's mod is in technic/tekkit as well as a few others plus he plays on the SMP server they all play on. He is also always in the same IRC rooms as most of them so when he says he has connections it is true. Now for the info on each of their standings towards technic especially the less vocal ones we only have his word and what we can find ourselves.
  15. Yes it will, same for giving it enchanted armor and the fun thing is that map makers can use mcedit filters to make custom mob spawners. That spawn mobs with custom gear setups and they can even configure if the mobs can drop the gear or not when killed.
  16. Simple Killer, keep the pack as it is now for technic 7 and tekkit 3 for minecraft 1.2.5 and apply the new consent requirement for the next versions. That way we can play the current version for the time being until the mess is sorted out. To me that would be a fair compromise as we lived with minecraft 1.1 for such a long time. Another compromise would be to remove the mods in a way that makes it as easy as possible to add them back in manually. Even provide config files and or detailed instructions on how to rebuild technic yourself. Basically what Direwolf does for his build it your self mod pack that he puts together for each new season. One way or another technic needs to change in the manner slowpoke mentioned or at least find a acceptable compromise with the mod devs.
  17. Last I heard about this is ally need to do is put the forestry zip file in the mods folder and rename it to start with a z to force it to load last. You do not even need to worry about block ids as all the ones it needs should be free still.
  18. By dong princess he means flower_child and the better than wolves mod that at a time was in technic until the whole catastrophe that caused him to make his mod incompatible with all other mods. Partly due to the technic devs including his mod with out consent and his dislike of forge as well as not want his mod to be included with any other. Naturally their is a lot of old drama/hate floating around the issue and these forums as well as the recent forestry one.

Also their is the valid argument that copyrighting and enforcing the need for permission is good for preventing people from stealing your mod and hard work as their own. But preventing your users from enjoying your mod in a easy to use format Is a little hard to justify. As I mentioned in my last post technic was not released in a nice controlled manner like your mod pack and many others. So getting permissions as well as appeasing any requirements that the mod authors may have was out of the question. As for updating, the technic devs tend to do a really good job with keeping all the mods up to date in the pack. With the only real issues being caused by the transition periods between one minecraft version to another. When only some of the mods are updated and we have to wait for the rest to update, which is something you will need to deal with your pack. The other issues are mainly with the rare chance that updating a mod may cause issues with another mod or a users world. Which in those cases they normally test them in dev builds that are publicly available with in the technic launcher. Lastly in my experience they tend to avoid releasing a update for the sake of updating just one mod unless it is to fix a major issue. Now for users going to the modders for help that is something that we try to avoid around here as we know how frustrating it can be. Grant it our forums can be a bit hostile at times but as long you post in a intelligent manor and with in our rules their is nothing to fear. Which may be a turn off to some but it is just our way to keep things nice and tightly. If you look around a bit we offer quite a lot of support for the many mods in the pack and have a lot of really talented members that are ready and willing to lend a hand.
  20. As killerx09 pointed out, when technic was created it was a small pack intended for private use by the technic devs and a few friends. That all changed when the yogcast made it public and it was too late to get permissions. When that happened the reaction form the modding community was less than pleasant so getting permissions and any respect than was a no go. Edit: Personally I can only guess but I have a feeling that the reaction and lack of respect they got when this happened destroyed any respect they had for most of the modders. In effect burning the bridges before they had a chance to be built. Which too me would be good enough reason to ignore the modders and focus on the users instead. Since history will show that the technic pack was and still is a really good and amazing thing for the minecraft modding community. Not only for the reasons you pointed out but also for bringing a very large amount of people into the community that otherwise would probably not be here. Personally I can only wonder what would of happened if its entry into public eye was done in a more controlled manner.

    It will work fine as all mods will need to be SMP for 1.3. Now will they all make sense in SMP and correctly take other players into account is unknown.
  22. You would be amazed at all the amazing things that you can do with Vanilla Minecraft. I watch a lot of lets plays of it on youtube when bored and you can learn a lot. For example with the enchanting system you can make tools and armor that is as good or better than a lot of the mod items. For tools it is always good to have a good pickaxe with fortune on it as it will double and triple the diamonds, redstone, coal, and any other resource from any block that doesn't drop a block directly. Another good tool enchant is silk touch as it allows you to pick up blocks that would not normally drop a block. Like harvesting diamond ore blocks to save for later as well as even harvesting glass blocks with out breaking them. For armor a fully enchanted suit of diamond armor can have up to 96% damage reduction which is better than a nanosuit as well as even gem armor from EE. Grant it the gem armor has a array of other effects to increase your survivability and is cooler. As for force fields and anti greifer tricks, their simply is no way to defeat them as they will always find a way. All you can do is ensure that your not a target or that their are plenty of easier targets. Making a complex force field system only draws attention to you as you most have something worth protecting. Which will also drives them to find ways to break it open as when you tell someone that they cannot do it, it only makes them want to do it more. Best thing to do is play on a white listed server or a small server with family and friends.
  23. The end normally only has one floating island made of end stone making the stuff a very limited resource. Looks like someone on your server already killed the dragon and harvested all of it. Which means the end is nothing more than a place to farm enderman for your server. If your the server owner you can always delete the end folder and it will regen the place complete with the dragon.
  24. Single carts as in while your riding the single cart or is it empty? It could be a bug, but if that was case others would be having it. Grant it not a lot of people use rail craft from what I've seen due to the other options in the pack.
  25. Let me try to understand that, it blows up with you in the cart and you cannot check to see with out since it is too fast for you. Is that correct? If it blows up with you in it then it cannot possibly be be a chunk loading issue which leaves a issue with the track. But you checked it fully so that cannot be it so it has to be either a bug or something else like lag. I think you also said it was completely random where it blows up or is it any where specific like a certain section of track. A possibility could be that the world guard protection is not as perfect as you think and mobs may still be spawning but are getting removed right away. I know this happens with spawners on peaceful where the mobs will spawn for a second and disappear. So a idea could be to put half slabs over the track so that your head will be in them while riding the track. Don't worry as due to a minecraft bug you will not suffocate and it should have no effect on the track. For good measure line your tunnels with half slabs as well especially in slime chunks. In other words I'm suggesting the instillation of normal anti mob measures instead of using world guard.
