  1. Does it blow up with you in the cart or not or are you sending empty carts around it.
  2. That dose bring up the question, are the carts blowing up before your eyes as in while your riding the train or when your sending riderless carts around.
  3. That would work or somewhere in the train at least as dealing with this type of issue is what they are for.
  4. We have rail craft 5.3.3 which is outdated by a bit and looking around in the config as well as the version history their nothing about your issue. Are the carts and track being chunk loaded by a anchor cart or other chunk loaders, since they could be running into issues with unloaded chunks causing it to forget they are linked. If we had rail craft 5.4.0 or above I would say to use reinforced track which is not only blast proof but 25% faster than normal rail.
  5. They tried to post their side of the story on the MCForums and their posts were deleted many of times during the whole forestry catastrophe. In fact most of the posts presenting our end of the story especially the sane ones were deleted and censored while most of the anti technic ones were left a lone mostly. Basically the moderators are mostly technic haters and are crazy about copy rights over their from what I've seen. Which is why a lot of them are under the impression that the forestry author requested his mod to be removed and the technic devs refused. When the truth is that he never contacted them or even allowed the technic devs to talk to him despite their many tries to get a yes or no from him. I bring up forestry due to the fact that it is at the core of the most recent anti technic hate due to the attention it brought to the subject.
  6. If you want to go the disable compact solar approach also disable solar panels all together as pointed at by Teraku. It will save your server from a lot of pain and suffering. Grant it this will force people to make massive wind or water farms including the lag inducing auto water mill machines.
  7. It is not really a cheapshot towards us and instead is their attempt to deal with all the anti mod pack hate floating around. A lot of people see mod pack and instantly think they are not legit until proven other wise.
  8. The only mod that we were really using with out permission was forestry as of late and any that we were missing we now have. As for forestry it was a simple issue of the mod author ignoring the technic devs attempts to get permission and that he never told them to remove it. You do have to remember that technic was never intended to be public when it got leaked onto the internet and into the line light by the yogcast spot light. Which is why they never got permissions in the first place as it was only for their private use. Once the lime light was shown on them they probably realized how great their creation was and since it was already public they just rolled with it. Also another thing to consider is just how mind numbingly expensive it is to run this site and forum. Let alone how much all the bandwidth to support hosting the launcher and the pack must cost them every month. Which they pay out of their pocket with out requesting or accepting any type of donations themselves and instead they go out of their way to drive people to donate to the modders. If they were thieves like your so determined to label them as don't you think they would be trying to do things the other way around and attempt to make money from the pack.

  10. First never ever ask for a ETA of anything technic related as it is not only against the rules but also impossible to tell. As we are purely reliant on the modders to release their mods for the new version of minecraft and the devs behind technic have zero say in when that happens. Which due to the changes that were released in this version of minecraft it will be a while before we see any type of update to technic or tekkit. However I can assure you that we will be getting a update in the future once all the mods are updated and are stable enough to be assembled into a new mod pack. Also in the case of tekkit it is not enough that the mods be updated but they also need to ported over to bukkit since tekkit is bukkit based.

  12. That is true, just because it is natural is no real excuse and the mod community will greatly benefit from all the mods being open source.
  13. Personally I'm tired of seeing people spit out this stupid stereotype that has very little to do with the issue. As it is not that they want to protect their ad pennies but instead has to do with protecting something they pured their heart and soul into for countless hours. As making mods is not easy and is only natural for people to be very protective about something that takes up the majority of their free time. Grant it some are more protective than others but it is only human nature to protect something you care about. In other words more times than not the modders just want to maintain control over their project and prevent people from abusing it.
  14. Another key issue is that in the past technic did not have permissions and was distributed with out them. Which pissed off a lot of people who no matter what you tell them it would be impossible to change their minds. As opinions are very easy to make but extremely hard to change once made. Which is why first impressions are so important and unfortunately for technic that time has come and gone for most people. Personally the only thing that would be able to counter the anti-technic hate is if the modders themselves endorsed technic. However I'm not just talking about one or two but the majority of them that have granted permission to use their mods. As they are the ones that the people will listen to instead of a group of people that are thieves as far as they are concerned. Unfortunately this will probably never happen as the modders do not want to get involved with this type of issue and already have enough on their plate dealing with their mods.

So hopefully they do not pull another 1.2.0 to .5 again and the modders have time to get all their mods out for a single version of minecraft. Now to make matters worse they just released a snap shot for minecraft 1.4 that adds a few awesome things. For example zombie villagers that you can cure and spawn naturally or have a random chance to spawn when ever a zombie kills a normal villager. Also mattering on your difficulty level zombies, skeletons, and pigman will spawn with different weapons and armor to make them harder to kill. Along with the new enemy enhancements they are also adding 2 new blocks the command block and the beacon block. The command block will be a uncraftable block that map makers and server admins can program with server commands that can be activated with a red stone signal. So for example it can disable the weather or change the game mode of who ever interacts with it or a wide array of other functions. Like oping a player or even kicking/baning them if they are dumb enough to mess with it. Now as for the beacon block it will be craft able and will allow players to build power pyramids that will provide area of effect buffs. To use it you need to build a pyramid out of 9 to 164 iron, emerald, gold, or diamond blocks and than select a buff and sacrifice something to the minecraft gods. As for the effects you can pick one between speed, haste, resistance, jump boost, and strength as well as choosing a secondary power to either buff the primary or to provide regeneration. Now for the area of effect it varies mattering on how big you build the pyramid and can go from a 16 block radius all the way up to 40 blocks at max size. As a bonus it will ignore your Y axis so you can build them in the sky to supply the buff to the whole chunk, but the block needs a unobstructed view of the sky to work. Also for added effect the beacon block will emit a column of light when active that can be used for navigation. No word yet about the mod api or anything else but they still have a lot of time before 1.4 is expected.

  18. I do a admit that a few of the suggestions can be used to grief but forcefields in tekkit are just too powerful and griefy in their own rite. As the mod that they are using is not really designed with SMP in mind. So admins have no way to get past someone's force field with out the use of worldedit or mcedit. Here is a griefy way to get around it, if the field is not complete meaning their is still dirt/stone in its way blast those blocks with a fully charged destruction catalyst. This should blow a hole though their base before the field can recover and seal the hole. Or a even better way is to use a logoutevator (term coined by Zisteau on the minecrack server). Dig under his house and make sure their is no open areas between you and the field. Now dig a two block tall by one block wide indention in the wall and place a trap door in the top block of the indention. Now open the trap door and stand in the space while closing the trap door so it is cutting you character in half. Now relog and when you log back in you will find yourself in the next available air space directly above where you logged out that is big enough for you to fit in. Which will be right in his house or basement allowing you to disable his force field from the inside. This is a very long standing bug/safety feature in minecraft and is due to the fact that it will not spawn you into a solid block. So that when you log back in while inside a block it will move you up to the next available location and if there are none above you it will try below. This trick can be used to get all the way from bedrock to the build limit as long as you have a column of blocks to put the logoutevator under and space at the top to spawn into.
  19. Or you can setup a few wireless jammers around their house to mess with any wireless redstone they may be using. Which makes things very interesting if they use a wireless remote to turn off the field. Especially if they happen to be away from their home so it may give you some leverage to get them to change the field.

  21. That is correct, only way to kill someone in quantum is to slowly whittle down their suits charge with a lot of damage over time. While preventing them from recharging it and it can take quite a while to make a noticeable dent in it. Here is a idea create a long tunnel lined with reinforced stone leading around your base and make it look like your entrance. Now line that tunnel with Tesla coils hidden in the walls in order to kill any intruders. I wonder how long the tunnel needs to be to kill some one in quantum or to whittle down their charge low enough that another trap can kill them. For effect you can even add a minecart track to no where in the tunnel to make it look more realistic for a roller coaster of death theme.
  22. If only we had mystcraft in tekkit for the portals. All you would need to do is find some mystcraft crystals than build a sideways portal at the bottom of a pit trap. As for where the portal will link to, just create a void age. For a truly bottomless pit of doom that even a quantum suit will offer little protection from. Personally the only way to beat quantum with a trap is to send them to the void as that 100 damage reduction and very large charge is just too powerful. As for the tread hijack, simple a quantum suit with a ring of arcana and other EE power items on your hotbar.

  24. It doesn't work on the server I play on as well, it looks like the NEI plugin for iron chests is not working. Thankfully if you google around you can find the recipes.
  25. You need to add the correct bukkit port of forestry on the server and client version that goes with the bukkit port for each client. Not to mention they all need to be configured correctly to work well together.
