Does A Private Modpack Still Require Mod Developer Permissions?

Hello, I'm making a private modpack for me and my friends to use and I'm wondering if I make a private modpack, and include mods without getting permission, if I could still use it without being sued or troubled by the mod developers.

I definitely wouldn't worry about getting sued.  

 

Most modders I've ever seen are fine with private packs.  The whole point in making mods is to play them, after all, and if you can't throw a few together for you and your friends then it's not a mod worth including to begin with.
