Unlike most human beings, I have a button. I'd prefer it never be pressed, though; bad things could happen.

Light switches (usually) don't have buttons. They're, well, switches. As in, levers, but smaller. Many more technical machines rely on switches/levers to control things rather than buttons, because buttons tend to be finicky in many ways. Combine that finickiness with, say, a jetliner or a nuclear reactor, and you could have problems.

Technically, yes. But the way I've always seen it is, the larger a switch/lever is, the more likely it is to be called a lever, whereas the smaller, the more likely to be called a switch. Not just by me; I've noticed most people think the same way.

Would you consider the wheel to be technological? At the time it would have been considered a machine and a traditional wheel has no buttons.

Obviously, we're more advanced than a wheel to get a silly button all on our own. :)
