Brad387
Does the Lite version of Tekkit run better than the Classic version? Is it less intensive on the server? If so, what do I lose for this extra performance? Also, is it possible to install OptiFine into the Lite client?
Teraku
In terms of how well it runs, Tekkit Lite runs the same as Classic. And you can install OptiFine into Tekkit Lite.
Odai
to install optifine you need to put the files into the modpack.jar in the /bin folder

What is the point of it then, if I only lose mods from upgrading to it?
zarb
thats its not based on a very very very outdated version of minecraft?
theprolo
What is the point of it then, if I only lose mods from upgrading to it? You gain mods. I think the only mod in Tekkit which was removed was Optifine. Also, Tekkit Classic is still Minecraft 1.2.5.
Teraku
What is the point of it then, if I only lose mods from upgrading to it? The only thing you "lose" is EE2, which is replaced by EE3. You only gain mods such as Mystcraft and all the other mods from Tekkit Classic, but updated. All that, and Minecraft 1.4.7.
Maxis010
Lite actually does run smoother Dedicated server, World life in real time: approx 8 weeks Classic: Moderate lag spikes every 6 to 10 seconds, caused by Tekkit Lite: No lag, same set-up, even with other gameservers and a few teamspeaks running
disconsented
It is very circumstantial because Optifine isn't a one size fits all ordeal.

Teraku
we also lost railcraft and the power converters Power Converters was replaced by Transformers. It's basically the same principle. Engine Generators are simply replaced by Pneumatic Generators, which do the exact same thing as Engine Generators. And you now have to use Electric Engines instead of the super lossy Energy Link which took all the EU it could get but only used 24. And you can easily install Railcraft yourself. Just like Power Converters, but Power Converters requires you to edit the block ID's in the config to prevent "block ID already in use" errors.
