pieofdeath123 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 So I recently went to try Big Dig, but it wont get to the Menu all it does it load to the Mojang screen freeze and stay there until I close it with the task manager Quote
cantorsdust Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Big Dig can take a while to load because it's so, well, big. On my shitty laptop it can take over a minute. Check your technic/bigdig folder and post your Forge client logs. Quote

CanVox Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 It doesn't look like it's crashing, it looks like it's getting shut down in the middle of startup. How long are you waiting? Quote
jclu13 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 i have the same problem. it starts to load but then it gets stuck on the mojang screen and goes to not responding after like 5 minutes cant get anywhere past that. Quote
CanVox Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Okay, a few things: first update to 1.3.7, it's just out and it's nice. Second, make sure your java is 1.7_21, older versions tend to be a bit slow. Thirdly, hit the cogwheel in the upper right hand corner of the launcher, make sure your allocation is large enough and that the "permgen" checkbox is checked. Lastly, if that still doesn't work, bring me a forge log and what happened with #1-#3. Quote
jclu13 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I just downgraded to the lowest possible to see if it works and it did. it was 1.3.7 that wasn't working. im going to see how high I can get before it stops working. Quote
jclu13 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 im getting Failed to start game java.lang.NullPointerException at the mojang screen on every single build of big dig Quote

jclu13 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Disable your AV. whats AV?? I feel realy dumb right now but I honestly have no idea what that is. Quote
jclu13 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 after disabling my anti virus I got failed to download http:// mirror.technicpack.net/Technic/mods/z-bigdig-configs-v1.3.7.zip Quote
jclu13 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I know right. I did it like 5 times got the same thing. turned it back on then it downloaded everything and I got this again Failed to start game java.lang.NullPointerException. I think im just gonna give up with this for a while cause I have the same problem with the new tekkit also. Quote
sickmate Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I'm sorry if this is 'bumping' but I've had this problem where it gets past the Mojang screen, then sits on a grey screen for a long period of time. Do I just continue waiting, or is there some way I can fix it? I'm using a HP-pavilion dv6 laptop, 2.3Ghz with 4GB ram. Could it be my specs are too low? Quote
catwood Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I found a way to see if it is working or not. In your launcher's options open up the console. If when it freezes then check to see if the console is flooding with script. If it is, then it should be loading. If not, then it has froze. Quote
igotbored112 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 big dig is a massive mod pack,it takes me 10-12 minutes to open, try leaving it for like 20 min and i'm sure it'll load Quote

DoriumMaldovar Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 You can see it all happening if you look at the console. Step 1) Click the gear on the technic launcher Step 2) Click "Show Console" Step 3) Launch Big Dig Step 4) Watch the console -----soooooo mannnnnyyyy thinnnnnggggs----- Fun fact: It's actually loading the textures and animation data that takes the longest from what I've seen. teepee131 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I was actually having the same problem (or possibly a similar one) on my HP Pavilion dv6, (yayy we have the same laptop :3) and I solved my problem by re-installing with 1.3.13, the latest, very different from the reccomended. It still froze with the "Not Responding," on the Mojang screen, but after about a minute it finally got through and is working fine so far. Hope this helped the OP or anyone else Quote
The Uber Cannon Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Well, for me it just takes within a minute of loading. This problem probably depends on your computer's capabilities and how much data is used. Quote
