Hey all, just wanted to get a general idea of what music the Technic community listens to. No real format for replies other than including your preferred genre/genres would help ;)

For me it's Metal every step of the way, Metallica, Slayer, Lamb of God, Job for a Cowboy you name it, although it not only limited to metal. If you guys actually give a crap about the other stuff let me know :D

I like Techno, especially songs with bass. Not the really fast stuff though or stuff like what Infected Mushroom makes.

Daft Punk, Benny Benassi, and Deadmau5 are my favorites.

I also like listening to bands with female singers, listening to Fireflight right now. Sounds better in my car though, my headphones aren't all that fancy.

For me its more the song than the genre though its metal/rock I like mostly (A7X, Metallica,Three days Grace,Stuck in your radio and Linkin park are the main bands on my ipod though i have one or two songs from others)

Daft Punk, Justice, Of Montreal, Ratatat are some of my favourites. I also really like the video game music composed by a guy named Tomas Dvorak. Otherwise I like old 20s stuff and a lot of 80s.

I like Metal. Thrash/Death/Black/Doom and even some folk and power. I've been fortunate to work as a metal DJ at our college's radio station, otherwise I wouldn't have been exposed to half these people (and probably would have still thought Metallica had talent).

Vader, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Rotting Christ, Belphegor, Graveworm, Gorguts, Municipal Waste, Overkill, Swallow the Sun, Sun O))), Aether Realm, Amon Amarth, Entombed, Ancient, Behemoth, Watain, Austrian Death Machine, Psychostick, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Tyr, Korpiklaani (hit or miss), Draconian, Insomnium, Nightwish, Nile, Children of Bodom, Kataclysm, Goatwhore, Death, Carcass, Dream Theater (OK they're prog rock, but still damn good), Devin Townsend Project, Tryptikon, and probably more I can't think off the top of my head.

I'm a name-dropping whore.

Rock, Chiptune, Jazz, retro game tunes etc.

Among my favorite bands are The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.

I absolutely love Oscar Peterson's jazzy work.

I listen to (and make) lots of chiptunes. I don't know why they appeal so much to me, but they just do. The NES and especially the C64 can crank out some crazy-ass shit.

Seriously, look up Fearofdark, Rushjet1 and Tadpole, among countless other chiptune artists. These guys put a lot of work into their stuff.

Oh, and I couldn't have forgotten this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIkQNti8_EU

One more thing: Dubstep is terrible.

Being a musician, i've learned to appreciate a lot of different styles of music, but i think my favorites are Djent, Ska, 80s speed metal, and awful 90s rock.

Keith Merrow

Asylum Street Spankers

Diablo Swing Orchestra

White stripes you can find on your own.

I've got to say, Jay, that there is something to be said for awful 90s rock, is it just White Stripes you meant by that?

Not just the white stripes, but they are my favorite awful 90s band.

One more thing: Dubstep is terrible.

I actually enjoy some dubstep. Skrillex just sounds like a washing machine to me though.

Also, i think enough people may enjoy these.

Does miscellaneous video game and movie soundtracks count as a genre?

In the same way that "showtunes" counts. While it is technically a group of music, it isn't necessarily musical quality that links them together.

Rock, pretty much the only thing I listen to. (Skrillex being the exception :P, I liked Bangarang and Scary monsters and Nice sprites)

Thousand Foot Krutch, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, Skillet, Sum 41, Angels and Airwaves, Rise Against

Defiantly rap or as weird people call it hip-hop. My favorites are Mac Miller, Chris Webby, and Kid Cudi. I really don't listen to much other music but some times I find a song from a different genre that I enjoy.

Just gonna leave this here. You may not want to play it out loud at work, unless you're cool with making your coworkers really uncomfortable.

Chiptune is definitely my favorite genre, make alot of chiptunes on my DMG with LSDJ. Aah the memories..

Sabrepulse - Treasure Dancer

IDK what genre this is..

Psytrance is fucking amazing when there's a good bit of LSD in my system.

GMS - Tudo Mundo

Classic Rock is where its at when I'm not in the mood for any of the above.

Jimi Hendrix - Villanova Junction Blues
