Tuxie Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I want to make a fission reactor, but at the newest version of tekkit we don't have IC2 nor RedPower anymore. So how do I take power from my turbine to buildcraft engines? Every tutorial I find tells me to get a battery from IC2 :/
phazeonphoenix Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I use redstone energy conduits. Just be sure to use a wrench and give 'em a whack so they draw power from the turbines (the end will turn orange). I've also seen Redstone Energy Cells hooked directly to the turbine and conduits drawing from it instead. I don't know do BC wooden conductive pipes work too? [edit *$@&#! grammar police]
Dewfire Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Hmm, we need to update the Wiki for Tekkit for Atomic Science. I just noticed there isn't anything in there!
weirleader Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Hmm, we need to update the Wiki for Tekkit for Atomic Science. I just noticed there isn't anything in there! Yep -- I haven't yet gotten around to learning Atomic Science, so haven't been able to put anything in! So if somebody does know it, please go for it!
Sulo Hayha Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Stuff I learned about Fusion Reactors and other stuff from this mod: 1. EM Glass does NOT conduct heat 2. EM Glass can be used to shield your base from atomic apocalypse if used as hermetic wall around whole reactor 3. Reactors spit plasma from all 4 SIDES, no plasma output on top and bottom 4. You can use EM Glass to create plasma tunnels 5. Plasma goes ~6 blocks away from reactor at best, when used in bigger tunnel it spreads in sphere 6. There has to be at least one free block in tunnel on same height as reactor for plasma to create 7. Plasma tunnels can be bigger than 1x1, they can also take irregular shapes 8. Large turbines will turn even with just 1/9 water blocks under it generating steam 9. Turbines HAS to sit directly on top of heated water block (or connected to such with steam funnel) to generate power As for reactor setups themselves, there is a lot of those on Voltz forums (and google ) but I've created one of my own. We have no way to calculate its real power without some blocks from Voltz but I've tested it manually. Completly cooled down and fueled reactor is fed power to generate plasma for 4 minutes from external power source, it generates power for those 4 minutes + couple more minutes without using power while water is cooling down and turbines are stopping. After such cycle it produced 4.187.124 MJ. It uses 2 fusion reactors, 21 large turbines and 26 small turbines (not all small turbines were connected at the moment). Screen:

Screen: try using Conduits not conductive pipes. try something like this http://imgur.com/a/S4gma#0 http://imgur.com/a/2jvQE#2 any of those things will greatly increase your power output, specially the last one. one block of boiling water produces more steam than what a single turbine can use.

I have a bunch of atomic science tutorials for tekkit main in youtube. Search youtube for "TheBilderbergGamer" and you will find my channel.

Well, I used buildcraft pipes becouse I like to see the energy moving around Also, with conduits I would need a lot of Cells to collect power with 100 MJ\t limit on cables, with pipes there is no such limit, I can feed whole plant output to one Cell. How did you make pipes transport steam? Or is there new Tekkit version I dont know about?
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted September 12, 2013 Discord Moderator Posted September 12, 2013 Redstone conduits have a HUGE limit (bigger than anything I've tried). Redstone energy cells have a 100 MJ/t limit on each side, but you can use any combination of in/out on different sides for a total of 600 MJ/t.
Dewfire Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Yea the conduits have a huge cap. I have my energy cell system set up in a way that I have 2k/MJ output to my system from Energy Cells. He captures the steam using Liqiducts, and then sends them to his Turbines. It's crazy how efficient it is.
CharlieChop Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Conduits transport well over 2000 MJ/t, and if you use BC pipes and the turbine generates more than 36 mj/t then youre wasting power.
Tuxie Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 I dont know what I'm doing wrong... My turbine just dont start. I have a fission reactor and I put a Fission Fuel rod on it, the reactor is inside a 3x3 box of water and I made the 3x3 turbine on top of it. I can see in the thermometer that the temperature is rising from 0 to 1800+-, but the turbine does not work, I connecter a redstone conduit between the turbine and a redstone energy cell... (all this in creative mode) What else am I missing?

Tuxie Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 Worked like a charm! Thank you guys!
