Sp0nge Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 For those that know Linux etc, dont search for any provider that is "Minecraft specialist". Any host will do that provides Java and access using Putty etc. Mem isnt the issue eighter, whats more important is the CPU speed, internettline and disks. RAM is tbh overrated. We have 12gig of ram, we can need days without a restart to use all of that ... Connection, CPU (6-8x core shit isnt what u are looking for tbh) and enough diskspace, search for that, and you should be good to go :) Quote
Scullyking Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Thought I would post my specs. RAM: 1GB PLUGINS: ESSENTIALS (Thats it!) PROCESSOR: 2GHZ SLOTS: 30 We get next to no lag, apart from the occasional block lag. However, we haven't been doing many lag intensive things. Just a couple of quarries. Quote
LittleMikey Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I've decided to wait a couple of days before I buy the server, because I'm currently in Hospital at the moment, and I've only just realized that the Hospital's wifi must block a port or something because I can't connect to Minecraft servers. So no point of me buying it now... It's sad because I wanted the server so I had something to do while I was in here XD. Oh well. Quote

Budz42 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Instead of buying a server, I'd just take the cheapest route and set up my own. The server hosting software is free and free is my favorite price. Quote
