  1. I, for one, am pissed that mods are even available at all. They have really diluted the userbase for Minecraft "Classic." (I actually kept it short and sweet lol.)
  2. I am using the a modpack similar to what the Yogscast uses in their Moonquest series. It is recommended that you have (and allocate) 4gB of RAM to run this pack. Thanks to joshmoni for compiling the pack. It's super fun. Here is a link to the page: http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/yogcraft-147-yogscast-pack.156638 This is a small, whitelisted server paid for by me to have fun and explore the pack. It is generally up 24/7. The IP address is: 216.245.213.67:25565 Some rules to consider before you message me to get whitelisted: 1. I am not big on PvP. This server is mainly for building stuff and sharing ideas for builds. 2. It is small (only 6 slots) so there isn't always someone online, but I am usually online if I am not asleep or working. This could change depending on how many people are interested. 3. DO NOT PESTER ME TO SPAWN STUFF IN, OP YOU, CHANGE THE MODPACK, INSTALL PLUGINS, etc. I Won't do it. Pestering me about this stuff tells me you either aren't satisfied with the server I pay for, or you want a bunch of stuff without putting in any effort. Plus it is super annoying. This is about playing Minecraft and building stuff. If you want to show off or blow stuff up, go someplace else. 4. I am old....real old. As such, I am looking for relatively mature players. I don't care about swearing or anything like that. 18+ very much preferred. I will boot if you act like a jerk. I have been called a benevolent dictator, which suits me fine. 5. Build whatever you want, as long as it doesn't interfere with other peoples' good time. We play games for fun, after all. 6. Obviously, no stealing, griefing etc. 7. In order to apply, please message me on this site and tell me a bit about yourself. Your MC username, Skype name, age, and how you like to play. Convince me you want to play nice, and I will be happy to whitelist you. These rules may make me seem like a hardass, and they are meant to. Just don't be a jerk, because I can be a much bigger jerk when my patience is tried. A short description of the server: I have run this server for about a year and a half now. I have played pretty much all of the Technic Pack modpacks on it, and have seen quite few people come and go. I have been wanting to run this modpack for quite a while, but the RAM requirements (again, 4 gigs are needed by Java for this) means some slots have opened up. The modpack itself includes IC2, Thermal Expansion, Portal Guns, Galacticraft, Tinker's Construct, Thaumcraft, Archimedes' Ship Mod, and much more. (I only just started playing it, so even I am not sure what all is in there.) The rules thread recommended posting some pictures, but I only recently made the world, so I only have my humble abode to show you: and me: Please message me if you are interested. Thanks, Buttneck
  3. You can also use an oil fabricator.
  4. I have had issues with using galacticraft power generation. (Coal generator, solar, etc.) I can hook up the solar panel to an gc energy storage module and it will fill up, allowing me to charge a battery, which I can in turn put into the rest of the gc machines, but directly powering gc machines with gc generated power is glitchy at best. My solution has been to use magmatic dynamos from Thermal Expansion. The fuel source is lava (which should be obvious from the name lol.) I use the TE Magma crucible powered by 3 magmatic dynamos. The magma crucible's lava is pumped into a tank, which fuels both the dynamos powering the crucible AND the rest of the dynamos in the system. (Basically one dynamo for each machine, including all the galacticraft machines.) I use fluiducts to move the lava and itemducts to feed netherrack (or cobble) into the magma crucibles. It's a little inelegant, but it works.
  5. I have a small (6 slot) server that is currently running Tekkit Lite. I would be happy to whitelist any player that can refrain from being a douchebag. (Placing nukes, griefing other peoples stuff....you know who you are...) I live on the West Coast of the US. The server is hosted in Texas. It's pretty much up 24-7. I have had European and Aussie players playing on it with minimal lag. Message me (that's a pm..NOT a reply in this thread) if you are interested. Please include your Minecraft username so I can whitelist you. I am old, (44,) so you should be at least 18 or act like it lol. ...and yes, I like the Yogscast.
  6. That is amazing. Thank you. I figured I would need to use computercraft, but not having any experience with it, I am going to have to do some basic research. Thank you also for making me aware of the ME Dark Cable, which wasn't mentioned in any of the AE tutorials I saw. Now to get to work. I had better do this on a test server, as my breeder is pushing the limits of its melting threshold, and I really don't want my base to end up like the first pic. (My breeder runs at 69,000 degrees.)
  7. I recommend geothermal generators and piping in lava from the nether. Not "infinite" per se, but it requires very little maintenance. My current starting regime: Geothermal Generators, build an ME system (highly recommended to learn Applied Energistics), autocraft solar panels. I also use uu-matter to make the mats for things, so setting up a mass fabricator and recyclers for the cobble from your quarry is highly recommended. Obviously, this takes a while. If you don't know AE, I recommend Mindcrafter's excellent tutorial.
  8. I know this is sort of unsolicited, but having used both Buildcraft and redpower extensively in base setups, it is extremely worth it to learn the Applied Energistics mod for processing and storage of items. Don't get me wrong, I love watching everything go through pipes, but the space you save with AE, as well as the autocrafting and general ease of interfacing your machines with your storage is extremely worth it. And fun! Mindcrafters did a 4 part tutorial on it, which really broke it down and made it easy to learn something that seemed a bit overwhelming to me at first. It's particularly useful if you want to get into dangerous (and fun! ) stuff like Nuclear Reactors.
  9. I have a very satisfactory nuclear reactor setup that automatically cools and refuels itself via my ME system. I also have a real nice, fast breeder reactor that is (almost) fully automated. The breeder reactor sucks out the re-enriched uranium cells and replaces them with depleted isotope cells. It uses Both reactors use quad uranium cells. The quad uranium cells are easy to shoot back in to the power plant reactor, as there is only one actual type of item going in. Not so with the breeder. What I need is a way (preferably using my existing ME system) to detect what comes out of the breeder, (re-enriched uranium or depleted uranium,) and replace it with the appropriate item (depleted isotope cell or quad uranium cell.) I saw an old reactor video on youtube that used redpower, with a block called an item detector. Is this my only option? I would like to avoid using redpower, as the ensuing clutter can quickly get real ugly.
  10. I think it's pretty obvious he wants German speakers. Here's a better approximation than Google translate will give you. He basically is saying: I want to start a Tekkit Lite server with 4-8 people. We play together and have fun What you must bring: -be ready to talk in Skype or TS3 -No crappy attitude -Don't always set nukes off right away Message me!!!
  11. Oh...and the server rules are: Don't be a douchebag. Simple.
  12. I have a small "vanilla" Tekkit Server (no special plugins...just Tekkit 0.6.5) that currently has no one but me playing on it. It's really nothing special...except for the fact that it is mine You are welcome to give it a try. Message me your username and I will whitelist you and message you the ip. If you can follow instructions, you are worthy.
  13. I added both of you on Skype. In order to whitelist you I will need your minecraft usernames.
  14. I had my small server running Big Dig for a long time, but I have had some serious issues with it that I am tired of constantly trying to fix. Plus, I need something new and different. The server issues made it difficult to keep players. I have been messing around with Hexxit and it is a refreshing change, not to mention it runs much better on my server. I do miss the tech of the other modpacks a bit. Hexxit seems focused less on building and more on exploring (raiding?) existing structures/dungeons. Anyway, I would love to explore the mod with 1-3 other people, preferably mature (over 18 is almost a requirement here, although I do make exceptions...I am ancient and don't have a lot of patience for douchebaggery.) ...so if you are interested, pm me. Having a mic/headset and at least Skype would be nice as well. If I get people interested, I will generate a brand new world so we can start fresh with un-plundered towers.
  15. Yes, I was wondering the same thing. What happened to that little box? It isn't available for me, and it used to be.
  16. How do I power gun turrets in Big Dig. I have watched some Voltz tutorials and in those, the turrets are powered by a battery box and some cable. These aren't in Big Dig 1.3.9, and I have tried to use redtone energy conduits, BC conductive pipes, and even a magmatic engine. None of this seems to do a dickey bird. I am obviously missing something here.
  17. Big Dig 1.3.9 works on my server now. After a lot of back and forth with my server host's support, they offered to just do it for me, and i gladly accepted. The only issue now is how to get it back if I decide to switch modpacks again, so yeah, it would still be nice to know how to get the server to recognize that I want to play Big Dig. Specifically: What file do I need to modify to get the server to recognize the modpack that I currently wish to run if I have other modpack's .jar files uploaded to the server in addition to Big Dig? Currently, I am too scared to touch anything because we FINALLY got this thing running after a week and a half. (I won't bore you with my whining lol.) Also: which of the other files/folders in the Big Dig 1.3.9 download are essential to have on there? (i.e. coremods, mods etc.) Also also: Thanks in advance for any help you provide. Sometimes, it's tough going for me because I don't really have much of a computer background other than learning some BASIC on Apple 2es in high school. (years ago, obviously.)
  18. Could you be a little more specific? As in: How do I get the server to "read the new BigDig version?" I understand that I need to create a new world. That is a non issue. I just want the game to work.
  19. Hi there. Please bear with me, as I am fumbling around trying to update my server. My server host is Treepuncher/Kerplunc. I rent a dedicated Technic Pack server. The modpacks all have one-click installation, and I have been pretty happy with them so far. Unfortunately, the latest version of Big Dig they offer is 1.2.2, and having played both "Space Tekkit" and Voltz, I naturally want to update to the latest recommended build. (1.3.9) I am not the most computer literate person, but from what I understand, I need to delete and replace the old files on the server that correspond to the new files in the 1.3.9 server download. I get that, and I am able to transfer almost all the files except two: "launch" (windows batch file) and "launch.sh" I am using Filezilla, and whenever I try to transfer either of these files, I get the following: Command: STOR launch.bat Response: 550 Permission denied. Error: Critical file transfer error Status: Disconnected from server When I right click on either of these files and look at the properties, there is a message that says the file is from another computer and may be blocked etc., so I tried hitting "unblock" and "apply" and I still get the same error. Is this because my server host won't allow it? Is there something I need to do to the files to get them to transfer successfully? I know I should probably contact the server host, but I have issues with that as well lol. (login for support is separate from actual server login and the email password changing process does not work for me...) I am hoping someone here is knowledgable enough to help me. Why can't I download these files? Thanks in advance for any advice you have to offer.
  20. Come to think of it, there are those vast dungeon stronghold things in Big Dig with room after rectangular room and a lot of spawners. That could be it. I have since started a new world and the problem has corrected itself. CanVox, how do you disable "certain types" of dungeons?
  21. Unless Bees count as mobs that can't be the case, as I am not currently breeding anything else. Nor is anyone else on my server.
  22. Thanks for the reply. I'll search a little harder. There are some pretty big caves under my area, but if too many mobs had spawned already, you'd think I would hear them occasionally. (zombies moaning etc.) Is there an easy way to clear all the mobs out? Will resetting the server do this?
  23. Mobs just don't seem to be spawning on my server. I have monster spawning set to "true" in the default config files. Is there another setting I need to look at somewhere? I noticed when I press "L" on the keyboard, it brings up a list of "mob buttons" but these don't seem to have any effect. What is that screen for? It has three settings down below: Disabled, Square, and Guides, and a "Done" button.
