  1. @Scotty D: Yes, this is also why I refused to run FTB. For well over 8 months, they ran the same versions and implementations as tekkit classic. Even as tekkit classic updated theirs, FTB remained broken. Tekkit lite was released, FTB was still 1.2.5. They were more interested in schmoozing convention goers than churning out code. I understand vacation, but 8 to 10 months of inactivity? I'd fire my staff for shenanigans like that. But I digress. You cant make everyone happy, and frankly, I'm happy to see IC2 gone from a long-term standpoint (The water bucket duping exploit - free iron for everyone). This gives me greater challenges to overcome.
  2. Ah, nice to see someone's found a way around that. Question, would this be server side or client side?
  3. Ah, which particular part is the bug though? The speed, or the fact that its difficult to remove from griefed areas?
  4. Okay then, I offer a compromise to the solar issue. They need to be affordable enough to be built by folks who've been playing for X period of time, and not capable of becoming end-game/game breaker. They need to have some sort of requirement to remain in continuous operation. The maintenance can be automated. Multiple steps in the making of component tiers meaning its tedious to manufacture. Utilize multiple machines in the fabrication process. Utilize advanced alloys Heat Cells: Fuel Nether brick and Nether quartz dust - seeing as they come from the nether, they're going to be able to either hold a lot of heat and/or resist it. Neither of these two are necessarily easy, or difficult. Heat cells are like water cells, except solids. Over a period of time the heat cells build up heat (durability loss). To replenish their durability, placing them in the TE liquid transposer. How am I doing so far? Solar Heater: Component Machine block, a redstone reception/transmission coil, a bit of electrum, possibly nether brick, and a focus aperture. Focus Aperture: Component Machine block, but replace gold with diamond and Iron with Silver. Thermal Generator: Component Machine block, lead, silver and/or copper, with a piece of invar to simulate a shaft for the motor. Like it so far? Solar Generator: Final product Componets: Solar Heater Focus Aperture Thermal Generator Invar ingots down the each of the sides for the hull 2x Vanilla Daylight Sensor at each top corner Pros: Sustainable, clean energy 1MJ to 8MJ output Cons: Can break if all heat cells are not replaced (Unit shuts down until all heat is completely removed) Has to be fed water for internal steam generation Peak output from 10:00 to 14:00 hours Variable output based upon sunlight Rain prevents operation How does this sound?
  5. Folks moving through the nether have noted how much more... problematic it is to move about the nether. New mobs are living in the nether, but these are not the problem. Lava keeps spawning these psudo-source blocks that cannot be removed with a bucket and its faster flowing than water. Random, but very frequent lava source blocks spread about, making things even more difficult to navigate. This a Tekkit change in one of the mods or a core minecraft change?
  6. Perhaps something along the lines of a solar farm, requiring some type of controller. Something like what Factorization had was rather complex to make, but sadly, it was the only power it made. It took a hefty bit of material to make power.
  7. Good idea! But sadly I'm using redstone conduit.
  8. Just a suggestion here and it takes a bit to get it fully cranked up and self sustaining, but may I suggest trying something? Materials: 4x Steam engines (to start) 1 - Aqueous Accumulator 1 - Dimensional Anchor A few saplings A stack or two of coal MFR Planter MFR Harvester Appropriate BC pipes TE Powered furnace The system is automated once you get enough power to sustain everything. The aqueous accumulators are good enough that with liquiduct can supply 8 to 10 combustion engines with water. Another person who plays on my server uses combustion engines exclusively. He's producing 120MJ/t compared to my 40MJ/t, but only because he's had enough lead time.
  9. I understand the need to push people to do things and make things (and higher tiered things). But somehow, I feel there just needs to be some sort of powered solar option. Ya'know, something expensive enough to really push folks to mine and get material, but not a complete let down once you connect it.
  10. The actual owner and I play on my own servers in survival. I'm trying to get a recording of me building a plant as an example.
  11. The only thing I'm missing out of all this lack of IC2 is simply that I provide power for all server denizens. The core infrastructure is a series of diversified sources of power ranging from Factorization's solar, and IC2's solar, to backup nuclear plants, producing an epic combined power output of 1 million EU/t's. These are then transferred to customers who pay utility fees and in turn, receive an energy tesseract with a 100MJ transfer cap. They may convert it to whatever format they see fit so long as they pay their bills. The loss of the mods that compose of what I used to make this sort of power system are being felt very hard. I've had to get incredibly creative with power generation (and careful how I do it!). Currently there's few takers on the new Tekkit server, so I'm only producing a meager surplus of 40MJ/t for the 10 people that participate on the server. The next problems that comes from my system is the lag associated with the use of the Harvester machine, and when nobody's on all the engines break (or explode!) from storing up unused energy. Needless to say, something like this cannot have people living near it because of the lag and the huge amounts of land required to build this system due to the massive amounts of tick updates associated with running the MFR farming machines. Creating sustainable, and infinite energy is perfectly possible even in survival. If I can make a billiards table in Tekkit Lite SMP, you can make power. Just gotta have the time to do it.
  12. Um..... he got banned for item duping. Was it specified that it was against the server rules? Typically item duping is forbidden just about anywhere. Shouldnt have done it in the first place. But I agree with you that fingering the entire faction was a bit harsh.
  13. Seems someone took offense to my bug post about the iron duping. Its been removed from the forum.
  14. For some bizarre reason, cant edit. Yeah, just keep filling buckets with water. keep auto-feeding. infinite iron
  15. Yup! But it produces a second bucket. So, it is my recommendation it be removed. As far as the power armor, I rescind my recommendation for banning it. Its just simply OP, nothing more.
  16. Reasons to use a reactor: Nuclear is great when you're trying to get resources using a mass fabricator 2 hour run time vs 10 useful minutes of a stack of coal Uranium is plentiful Making solar cells is an absolute PITA Locations where the sun is not available [End/Nether] and geothermal is not an option due to chunk loading. I go for reactors as quickly as possible because they're dastardly safe lower than 320 EU/t and the material costs are lower than HV's. Eventually once you get the UU-matter churning, you can then mass produce resources needed for HV arrays.
  17. Rescinded. Mod author was contacted and this is normal behavior. Disregard
  18. Really? http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/iron-duping-exploit.38566/ This is repeatable on multiple installs, both SSP and SMP
  19. Induction furnace and sorry to say, the new power armors they just added. Induction furnace allows effortless duping of iron. The new power armor allows people to move faster than the server can keep track (And in ways that should be impossible)
  20. I can provide screenshot of the user's armor doing the offending.
  21. Title: Turbo movement, normally impossible. Version: 0.5.7 OS: Windows 2003 R2 64bit Java Version: 1.7 Description of Problem: Users are able to move at breakneck speeds using the newly added power armor mod and holding any kind of weapon. With specific mods installed, users are able to move through air and water as if using creative fly mode (but faster) and travel across land as if zero friction. It doesnt always get stopped by the server's "Flight allowed" checking. Error Messages: Error Log:
  22. Thanks for this information on the server crashing. Because of some recent updates, does it still occur? Out of curiosity, why are are you removing the crystal chests? I've run into an issue where if a player breaks the chest, half the items dissapear and that's only happened twice to the players on my server. As far as the blaze rod infinite fuel, that is interesting to note. I will make sure that nobody's running around doing that.
  23. Remove the Dimensional Anchors .JAR file from the C:Users<user>AppDataRoaming.techniclaunchertekkitlitemods folder It is unknown why it is occurring but removing the .JAR does not damage quarry's
  24. In 10 minutes of double clicking launch.bat, RAM usage has gone to 5.6GB of 8GB free, and swap has gone from 120MB to 1.9GB usage.
  25. I'm beginning to think its a memory leak somewhere in 0.5.3
