  1. Ain't nobody read that shit. On a related note, I edited the page a bit and added a picture - the sludge texture from the MCR files, though all you can see is a black square (I tried).
  2. By default this is horribly inefficient. Energy Tesseracts lose 25% of their transfered power, so it would be much better to pump the lava to the overworld - either with an Ender Tank or a Liquid Tesseract - and produce the power there. However, you can change the energy 'cost' to use the tesseract in the '\cofh\ThermalExpansion.cfg' config file. Keep in mind that I haven't taken the time to learn all of the new Voltz mods that were added to BigDig, and I'm not going to baby you; figure shit out for yourself. Now having said that, basically you have two real avenues to take when tackling your energy needs: Geothermal or Biofuel. Pumping lava into magmatic engines will produce 4 MJ/t and lava can essentially be pumped forever from the Nether or can be produced from a Magma Crucible. Melting one block of Netherrack will net you a positive quantity of lava after cost of production has been accounted for, so this is a viable method of power if you don't want to screw up the look of the Nether lava lakes. Biofuel generators can produce MJ at a much higher rate than Magmatic (16/t), but at a lower amount overall. To get all the plants that you will need, you simply have to set up automated farms with MCR; the related wikis go more into detail than I could (or would want to).
  3. Yea, you bought a Mac. Haha, just kidding. This is a well documented bug that is currently being worked on, until then use the fullscreen option in the minecraft settings.
  4. Not much I can tell you, maybe somebody else will be able to help you more. You might try posting your logs on the MCF thread for Tinkers' Construct; otherwise, worst-case scenario you'll have to alter the config files and change the id for the smeltery - it should delete the smeltery blocks and let you log back into your world.
  5. The latest news article goes into a fair bit of detail about what happened and why.
  6. You do realize that Tekkit is currently 1.5.1. BigDig was updated so rapidly because of game breaking bugs brought about by poor testing; the maintainers of Tekkit probably don't want a repeat of that, so don't expect an update until the 1.5.2 version has been thoroughly tested. You can probably expect an update within the week. And I'm pretty sure ETA threads are against the rules.
  7. That's not oil, it's sludge. I believe sludge can only be picked up with a bucket. A good rule of thumb is that sludge is transparent while oil is completely opaque. Ninja'd again.

    Tekkit crashes

Disable your Antivirus and launch tekkit again. Also, update Java.
  9. If you're having issues with the launcher try disabling your antivirus. If that doesn't work, right-click the launcher and run as administrator.
  10. I've noticed other people having similar crash logs. Post the Forge log please, you can find it in the main BigDig folder title 'ForgeModLoader-client-0.log' or something along those lines. Both the server and the client logs would be great.
  11. Ok, thanks. I've been having trouble finding chocobos in my superflat world, so I wasn't really stressing over not being able to breed them, but it's good to know how to for future reference.
  12. I've noticed I can't craft loverly or golden gysahl, makes breeding chocobos a little more difficult. I'm not sure if it's just me or if nobody can; haven't seen any other posts about it though.
  13. Either split them up into multiple pastbins, or use google docs. Edit: Nevermind, forgot I opened this thread 45 minutes ago.
  14. How much memory have you given BigDig?
  15. If nobody else posts a link to blastcraft/defense+, you might try eMasher's Defense mod, it adds razor wire, barbed wire, chainlink fences, sandbags, and a deflector shield. I'm not sure how the shield holds up against an ICBM though, you'll have to test that out yourself. Plus gascraft is a cool mod.
  16. Don't use 5gb of memory, more isn't always better. Cut that down to 1.5GB-2GB and make sure your java is up-to-date. Goddamn, just realized this was a necro post.
  17. The version 0.6.0.444 (1.5.1) of MPS and 0.2.3.110 of MPS Addons are both compatible with 1.5.2; BigDig is currently running both of them. So much time is going to be wasted by me looking at the graphs these things make.
  18. If it won't let you increase the memory allotment any more than 1gb, you'll have to install 64-bit Java. If you can spare the memory, give it between 2-4gb and try to load up your save. Make sure to increase the perm-gen size too.
  19. If it makes you feel any better, you can always get your resources back with NEI; just not your time, that's gone forever.
  20. Try posting it into Google docs. And how much memory are you giving BigDig?
  21. Wireless redstone will probably be added back in as soon as Chicken_bones updates it. I could be wrong, but couldn't you just use a good old fashion redstone torch to get the same results. It'll set up a not switch, but that can be reversed by doing what I did in the background - a bit of redstone on the ground, with a block in front of it. Edit: Also - and I base this on almost no research - I believe the newest version of MCR will allow you to connect rednet cables directly to the back of blocks. So once Tekkit goes to 1.5.2, this shouldn't be an issue any more.
