The moderators here don't typically get involved with server issues, but it seems like the OP needs to put some limits on his son's (or friends of his son's) abilities if they can't control themselves. It's not fun to play on a survival server that certain people are permitted to use for their personal playground, at the expense of the players or just for their own amusement. This type of server often gives rise to forum drama we don't particularly like seeing, so I'll close the thread if needed. That said, please make clear in your server title what version of Hexxit you are running. It would also be helpful to post some pictures, say of spawn or other user creations, if you want to attract high quality players. This thread does not advertise your server well, between the negative comments that seem to have commonality and the sparseness of information/visuals.

When new players join, they can't mine or open chests.
Torezu replied to aizenstarcraft's topic in Hexxit Discussion
I'm guessing you have the spawn protection radius set fairly large. Most of the time, no one except OPs can mess with the terrain or do anything around spawn. Has anyone tried moving out a ways and mining, etc.? Also, see your server thread and provide an answer, please. -
And...miniboxer kills the thread. :golgo:

few basic questions everyone wants to know
Torezu replied to zenmender's topic in Attack of the B-Team
Redstone in Motion would be spectacular to add to this. But I guess we can't have everything... :) -
I'm curious as to what parts those are. Recent medical advances have supplied the uses for things that were thought to have no use - the appendix, for example, has been theorized to have a use as a small storage point for "good" gut bacteria in the event of some kind of intestinal disease emptying those out of the intestines. Also, based on the world changes that Christians say took place during The Fall, some things may not serve the same purpose they were created for. I don't think our minds can really grasp the magnitude of universe to refute or affirm your statement. But why does a Creator necessarily have to be the creation of something greater? The universe (let alone complex life) as we see it exhibits an order and consistency that's difficult to explain without adding intelligence to the mix. It's on the same line as, but at a much higher level than, postulating that the Infinite Monkey Theorem holds true. The probability of non-life developing into life is literally so low that it would never happen before the proton decay of the universe completed.

Then the official position of the Catholic Church seems to run counter to their own historical record. See below. I'm willing to accept that much of the first few chapters of Genesis were written descriptively, just as much/most of Revelation was, because the person to whom the information was given for the writing didn't exactly understand all that he was seeing. It's hard not to read it literally, or at least in terms of time periods (given the evening/morning descriptive words) from my own perspective, but I'm not an authority on the translation. If you want to study the origin of life on the earth, you must assume either some form of creation or some form of evolution, since the available evidence could be made to fit either and neither is disprovable. From that framework you can explain how things developed from the beginning (whenever that was) until now. To date (and in much of recent scientific research), evolution has been assumed more than creation (Intelligent Design, whatever you want to call it), so more of the evidence has been pressed through that mold. You're thinking too small. I don't pretend to know how the dimensions above our 3 (or 4) work, but time is a creation just as much as space, and didn't exist "before" it was created. "The Dawn of Time" or "The Beginning of Time" are somewhat paradoxical phrases, but they apply here. Time and space are inseparable at the most basic level. The universe (multi-verse, whatever) is a physical place. We have evidence of its origin by watching its expansion, though there is debate as to its age and life span.

[HELP] How do I transfer lava into power?
Torezu replied to EvolutionaryX's topic in Tekkit Discussion
That's true. Combustion/iron engines can run on lava, though. -
This is a very pithy statement. I'm a creationist. My question to you is, why is it a problem how literally I do or don't take the story? Even among scientists that hold to evolution as a tenet of modern science, there are serious disagreements on how it proceeded. If all "new" evidence assumes evolution took place, of course it's going to fit any theory you'd like it to. Natural selection does not translate into inter-"kind" transformation. Abiogenesis does not occur, period, without supernatural intervention. There are, of course, theories on how life supposedly overcame the enormous statistical hurdle of transforming from inorganic matter to organic matter to organized proto-cell to organized single- and multi-cellular entities (with millions of different molecules in a single cell), but none of them have anything more than a basic framework. You have two choices if you want to believe in evolution (ignoring the very early stages in the transition from inorganic matter above): gradual or punctuated. Gradual has serious problems with a lack of fossil record evidence, and punctuated has serious problems with the complexity of a sudden transition from one form to another, especially in terms of optical structures, reproduction, and motive method.

[HELP] How do I transfer lava into power?

There's also a Heat Generator from Mekanism. Oh, and I moved the thread. -
I can think of several reasons to get an optical drive. 1) Incredibly cheap (think $25 or less) DVD viewing/burning. 2) Many games/programs are still not conveniently available online (or enormous to download), or sometimes you just want hard copy backups of software. The online unavailability thing is getting much less common, though. 3) Backup/system restore discs. Again, getting less critical, but still nice to have in case something goes terribly wrong and you can't get internet access. This isn't as important if you have another computer/device to pull driver files and other stuff with.

Members who are using Mac- Unable to connect
Torezu replied to Megadapree's topic in Platform Pagoda
Mac users playing modded Minecraft are not nearly as common as those with PCs. The only issue I've heard of that's really Mac-dependent (aside from antivirus crap) is when the Library folder is somehow hidden or otherwise made inaccessible. Check that, otherwise be patient. -
Thread closed. This is not a good server post. OP, try again if you're still around.

Inactive host and server thread title doesn't meet guidelines, thread closed. OP, please repost thread if the server is still open.
-
Questions: 1) What version of Hexxit are you running? 2) Did you read the posting guidelines before you came up with your thread title? 3) Why would you follow all the posting guidelines for the inside of the thread and not the title? That's just asking to get your thread deleted.

Everyone who posts on here asking for build rights? It's a terrible server post. Please consider the amount of time OP probably put into the server post with reference to the probable correlation with the amount of time he'll probably spend maintaining, updating, and policing the server. OP: Do it again. Try harder this time.
